It's a door at the end of the corridor that gives access to the upper floor of the Explorers Lounge. Only those who have cabins on Deck 8 use the corridor, hence it being known as the secret entrance!

We will be doing this in April 2024 and as most flights back to the UK, direct or with one stop, leave around 23:00 to 24.00 we are looking at the possibility of leaving the ship the previous evening. I know we could arrange a private tour that day, still looking at that option, and of course we have no idea what Viking will do with their departing guests who leave at around 8:00am and have a night flight. Two questions - has anyone left the ship the night before and what is the taxi situation at the cruise terminal?

Staying with dogs but on planes. Just come off an Air Singapore flight Phuket to Singapore. We saw two dogs at Phuket airport and they were on our flight. No indication as to their role as no vests but I overheard the husband saying that his wife couldn't fly unless she was cuddling her dog. The other one sat quietly on the floor. Personally I don't think in that case she should fly. I shall be taking this up with the airline. Very tempted to say I was allergic to dogs but they might have kicked me off the flight! It does seem that Viking are on the case and I shall contact them to add my support to those who have already done so.

Perhaps the broken tiles are a trip hazard and so H&S requires it to be rectified quickly?

I have debated with myself whether to respond to this but have decided to do so as it fits with some recent thoughts. Do people book these cruises without prior research or due diligence? Yes, there have been recent reviews about food, always subjective, but many other concerns could have been identified prior to booking. Before my first Viking cruise I understood, for example, how an included bus tour was described and also the cost, size and included benefits of each cabin type. I fail to see how anyone should be surprised at this information to the extent they have to cancel their booking. Poor research - oh well someone else is at fault.

From what I recall if you want something that is above the limit you pay the full price.

There was a post from someone onboard saying they have now been told a 48 hour delay.

Nothing added so what you see is what you pay.

But what about those who provide a service you don't directly see? Examples are those who cook your food, laundry your bed linen and towels, keep the public areas clean and so on.

Interesting, what was the source of the information?

I am assuming the press group are having a 'free' holiday or at least heavily discounted?

The latter couple sound like one we came across on a far east cruise pre-covid. Drank a copious amount of Grey Goose prior to dinner and virtually fell of his stool, his wife having to support him walking to the restaurant. Racist comments and he made nasty sexist comments about our Prime Minister (UK). Wasn't having that from someone from another country so I am afraid I very politely told him what I thought. I don't think he'd ever been called out on it before and I felt so much better afterwards!

Until the champagne price goes up!

Whilst never acceptable I am sure there are times when even the best customer services person in the world despairs at a question they are asked! So hard not to show a flicker of facial emotion.

I think Capt_BJ meant that if you are in a cabin category where the mini bar does not include alcohol the SS package doesn't change this.

You can order anything from room service as long as it is stocked. Enjoy!

You can feel good discretely which to me is what tipping is all about. I despair when I see someone making sure everyone close by sees their 'generous' gesture.

You don't say which ship and what specifically about the condition are you looking for?

Mosquitoes that bite your flesh, cause itchiness and are very annoying.
