jeepers13. some ships have both haven suites and just suites. cabins are nearly identical, you get the perks of a haven, minus the specially designated haven area. some ncl ships only have "suites" although the cabin descriptions are also identical. as are the perks. if you are offered an opportunity to bid for an upgrade, you can place your bid, on any type of cabin they show you and that your budget can afford. just remember whatever $ amount you bid, is multiplied x2 i was going to bid from a 2 bedroom suite to the 3 bedroom garden suite, but my wife was very happy in our 2 bedroom cabin. since we travel with a very close friend, the 2 bedroom fits our needs perfectly.

jeepers13. imho. it's absolutely worth it. ive posted before that just the ability of the concierge to get you off the ship before the 1000's of your closest friends is worth the price of admission!. quillwercruisers btw, most (if if not all ncl ships have "club balcony mini suites" they are just renamed and slightly refurbished cabins that were previously called mid-ship mini suites.

hey, julig22. while you may need to go to cruise next desk to book, i think you need to check with the guest services people to see if it's even possible, and if there are even cabins available.

having sailed on many ncl ships, both in the haven and suites when there is no haven, i am not aware of any special suite menus per se. the specialty menus for haven and suites are breakfast and lunch in modernos and cagneys , respectively also if you notify your butler ahead of time, he can bring dinner to your cabin from any restaurant on the ship and serve it in your cabin. so if you want steak and lobster and its available, you can in fact dine on it in your cabin. caveat! i dont believe its free though. you will get 3 free bottles of liquor (you choice)

you still get the 24 hr on call butler service, concierge if you need him/her breakfast in moderno, lunch in cagneys. you get all the perks you would get in the haven, less the designated pool are bar and restaurant. some ships have both haven and suites. the rooms are essentially the same, the services are the same, but you cant get into the "haven bar or restaurant" but the price is 1000's of dollars cheaper. priority boarding and disembarkation

knowing ncl, they will not discount your cabin regardless of your desire to stay for the next sailing. you also have to consider the availability of cabins. if you try this, it's better to go to guest services on the 1st day of your actual cruise, and see if this is even possible. you may be cheap, but the cliche "pennywise/dollar foolish" definitely applies here. we do b2b a great number of times, and ALWAYS book the cabin prior to sailing. I make sure we get the same cabin for both legs of the cruise, this way it avoids the hassle/ pain in the a** of packing up and changing cabins. on the 2nd leg of the cruise, again go to guest services, about 11:00 a.m. or so, and get them to redo your room keys.

no! and i wouldnt even think/consider dragging my luggage onboard with me. thank god for the porters. slip them a $10, and then dont worry about it. since i've put all my essentials into my carry on, there is nothing in any other suitcase that i need so desperately that i cant wait. At 7:00, on a cruise ship, the fun is just starting, drinks are flowing, musics playing, dinners are being served, i can wait, and it appears to me, that dragging around a suitcase until the cabin is ready, is way more of an inconvenience

i live in jeans and t--shirts for the entire cruise, i jus tbring along a collared shirt to be safe if i plan on eating at le bistro. and contrary to a prior post, most people do not dress up for dinner. the ones that do, imho look extremely out of place. i'm with chief mate jrk ( as i usually agree with him) on this one

rocketman.. the towels i take from almost every hotel ive stayed at for the past 20 years, so i have quite a collection. other than the pool towels, i dont need any from ncl, and who wants a robe a and/or slippers someone else has previously worn? if all else fails, slip the cabin steward a couple of $20's to look the other way (lmao).. by the way hopefully all the readers of this post will understand all my comments are said strictly in jest. i dont need salt/peper shakers, robes, slippers, towels, etc.

just stick them in your pocket or purse, who will notice? lol

it's just the hierarchy of the cabins. haven guests are charged $25 per person per day balcony cabins are $20 pp per day, and i believe inside and oceanviews are even less. the extra $5.00 goes where all the money goes. it's just because youre in the haven. doesnt matter if there is no designated haven bar or restaurant. if youre in a cabin designated as haven you get charged the difference. as you claim youre new to ncl/ haven, be advised of the following. the butler "DOES NOT! participate the the daily service charge money, so it's customary (imho) to tip him separately, especially if you see he is going the extra mile for you. we usually give me $100 + at the end of the cruise. depending on if, when and how often you utilize the services of the concierge, a tip at the of the cruise, is again customary , even though they share in the DSC money, we tip the cabin steward $20 at the beginning, $20 in the middle and $20+ at the end. while older ships dont have a "designated haven" you are eating at moderno for breakfast and cagney's for lunch, so on the 1st day of the cruise i usually trip the maitre"d a $20 or so. during the cruise, he becomes very solicitous of our needs. we also tip whichever waiter/waitress is serving us, regardless of the meal, or venue. in the end, your $25 daily goes into a giant pool to be distributed among the crew. any other decision as to additional tips to other personnel, is totally at your discretion

mocruisefan: taking the entire pizza was not the point op was trying to make. it's the issue of having a bizarre, unfounded sense of entitlement that people can be rude and just cut in line. the line was made for people to patiently wait for whatever it is they are getting, be it a buffet, grocery checkout line, bank line etc. there is no excuse or justification they are more important than any one else standing i line. for all i care, take the entire da** pizza, just dont try and cut in front of me., i can only hope that you are not one of those people that push little old ladies out of the way to get the last sale item (LOL)

jim the lizzard! yeah, you're 100% right. the people who cut i n line are full of s***. the question then is do you really want to get into a a hassle with them over it and possible ruin your vacation. they're no different than pool chair hogs, theater chair hogs, or any other people cruising that have a sense of entitlement. they are affectionally and collectively known as "KARENS" ! besides, ive had the buffet pizza many times, and although it's ok, certainly not getting into a fight over.

isantom. sorry, but in this case it's not nickel and diming, it's just another souvenier you can buy if you wish. how is it any different than buying a t-shirt, hat or any of the other so called "treasures" you can purchase on board? if you dont want it, dont buy it. nickel and diming is usually some extra b/s charge for something people think should be included in the total fare
