we always tip extra in specialty restaurants, and even in the mdr's . these folks dont make a great deal of $$$, so an extra $10 goes a long way in human relations. and yes, before all you naysayers pile on, i'm well aware that the DSC is designed to cover these services in lieu of any additional tip. bottom line, and this has been discussed may times before. if you want to tip extra, feel free to do so. if not, "DON'T"

you'd be much better off staying the extra night in london at a hotel near heathrow, than chance missing your flight. even if the ship docs at 5:30, generally speaking nothing happens until after 7 am. this aug we're spending an extra day in stockholm flying to london the next day, then non stop onto los angeles. youre doing yourself a disservice trying to cut it so close

we've booked the 2 bedroom many times, and i assure you we also love it. when my friend joins, the 3 of us have an opportunity to enjoy a suite with all it's perks, she has her own room, plus the suite advantages, and the price is apportioned accordingly. right now we are patiently waiting for july 25th. we're flying into london a day early, getting a shuttle on the 26th to southampton, and onto the dawn for the b2b london copenhagen-copenhagen stockholm. and of course the 2 bedroom suite,

well, in comparison, if youve driven a mercedes all your life and had to buy a lincoln instead, i imagine you'd be disappointed. we've been on over 20ncl cruises since 2010 and never been disappointed, some were better than others, but they were all enjoyable. it depends on what you really want from a cruise. i can be happy eating my meals in the buffet, the mdrs, or the specialty restaurants. 1st night out i make a beeline to cagneys. in the past, however, we always made it a point for moderno and teppanyaki. ive checked the cabin sizes for rccl and ncl, and for similar prices and categories, it seems to me that the ncl cabins are larger. ive also checked itineraries, and the choice of departure ports, days of a cruise, price, ncl wins hands down. while rccl vessels may be more opulent , i wouldnt even consider booking with them if ihad the choice/ if by chance you book a haven suite, you may never want to book a different type cabin on any line again. personally (as ive stated before many times) i dont need the bells and whistles, im happy to sit on my balcony with an icecold beer, listening to the sea, although the butler/concierge doesnt hurt you will not be at all disappointed by sailing with ncl

amy, one other great thing about our b2b, club balcony for entire 20 days is slightly under $11,000 right now, the prima and viva have priced us out of that market. if our usual traveling companion decides to join us, we'll probably upgrade to the 2 bedroom suite. right now its just me and mrs complawyer, so we're good on the club. i always say (regardless of anyone else's opinion) ncl gives you the best bang for your buck, both in price and choice of intinerery

or, of course the buffet will be available, and if youre in a suite you'll be taken directly to cagney's for lunch ,or the haven dining room if youre in a haven suite

grimix, i stand corrected. while we've been on almost every ncl ship,except POA and the newer ones, i guess ncl finally woke up and added a 2nd bedroom to it's newer vessels. we havent been on the escape, encore, prima, joy, breakaway. but when i have booked on any of the others the dos only shows 1 bedroom and a smaller additional toilet. so, accept my apology for the misinformation, and have a great time.

ok, which ship are you referring to? ive been on most ncl ships, and every schematic ive seen on dos cabins there was only one bedroom

last year on the bliss, we saw jersey boys. we walked out, sound was bad, and frankie valli he aint!. 2 nights later we saw "6" amazing show. that being said, i usually dont care about the entertainment. we've had drinks in the lounge and the singers were awful. with enough liquor in me they still sounded bad. i cruise for the joy of cruising, and the ports of call. it isnt unusual that for an entire cruise, i may not even bother with any of the shows. thats just me, and the entertainment or lack thereof, doesnt bother me in the slightest. i really hope you dont book a cruise, based on the shows

again, we're in the 2 bedroom on the back to back dawn, july 27 thru aug 6th,aug 6th thru aug 13th. got an offer to upgrade, but only available is the garden villa. lowest minimum bid is 1400, or 2800 for the 2 of us, if i have to bid onthe 2nd leg of thecruise, its another 2800, and no guarantee of success on either. also, i dont want to be in a position where we're successful on one and have to change cabins on the other. im happy as a pig in (whatever makes pigs happy) with the 2 bedroom. we're in the same cabin for all 19 days.

i have often thought about booking the dos cabin. when we cruise, it's usually myself, my wife and a very close friend, so i book the 2 bedroom so she has her own bedroom and bathroom. this way she also gets all the perks attached to a suite. while the dos is certainly bigger and much more opulent, plus it has an extra bath room, where are you all planning to sleep? master bedroom and pull out couch. the info indicates this cabin is designed for 4 people. while i hope you all enjoy this cruise and the cabin, only having 1 bedroom has always been the deciding factor in not booking this cabin

we're booked on the dawn from southampton to copenhagen, continuing on the stockholm. does anyone know if we have to complete cruise docs or the 2nd part of the cruise. we've dne b2b before and i dont rememeber doing that

you dont mention the ports of call on the bahama's cruise. if your main objective is to get them out of thee house, and a 10 day cruise would fit hat bill, if there are not a lot of ports, other than swimming in the pool, or signing them up for the kids club, youre just changing the house environment to the ship environment and there aint a whole lot of stuff for kids your age to do i would choose a cruise with different ports so the 3 of you can get off the ship, see and do other things. maybe get a beach day, shopping the next, and or shore excursions.

with the package, i tend to overdrink, more that i normally would. while i certainly dont recommend the following, (1) at breakfast i usually order a glass of champagne or a mimosa. (2) prior to lunch, a glass of chivas. i usually have a couple of bottles of heineken stashed in the cabin fridge. (3) mid day, or back from an excursion, either a mojito or margarita. we usually go to topsiders bar to order drinks. in the alternative, thank god for sugarcane (4) at dinner, another chivas, and (5) a glass of port after the meal. my wife has developed an affinity for reisling there is no way i would normally drink that much in a month, much less daily if youre eating at cagneys for dinner, and you ask your waiter nicely (a $5.00 tip doesnt hurt) he will bring you some of the sliced pineapple from moderno's/ (something to die for if you havent tried it before)

it all depends on what category cabin you want, and where you want to go. i found a 14 day cruise from iceland to southampton on the star this oct, and a penthouse suite is 7500. i dont think that's outrageous for a 2 week cruise, obviously, the price goes down for a lessor category cabin/ we're booked on a b2b 10 day each segment next oct from venice to athens, athens to tel aviv. total costs for club balcony is about $11,000 . i dont think that's excessive for 2 people for 20 days, when you factor in the food, beverage package, and (IMHO) the itinerary is amazing!

no problem, as soon as you are comfortably on board, go to either guest services, usually on the 1st day, there is someone taking reservations for all, or call the restaurant and cancel. sometimes there are also people out side the pool, or in the buffet who perform the same function

keep checking airline fares. they go up and go down. we're on the b2b awn on july 27th, and got a nonstop direct flight from los angeles to london heatrow, business class at 1300 per person . thinking about iceland in sept, round trip l.a. to reykjavik london to los angeles is $ 2100 per couple, delta comfort. i never tell anyone how to spend their money, but ncl travels to some of the most beautiful cities in the world, and i think youre doing yourself a disservice by not checking it out.

if the cruise is more than 120 days out, book what you want. you can then look up your cruise, under explore and plan, and it will give you (if available) the shore excursions and prices .if to costly, or not to your liking, (again if more than120 days out), simply cancel the booking. while normally at european ports we usually hire a can, i would be cautious about about booking a private tour, especially if there are women in your group. Mid east is know known for its openness to women.
