  1. We usually get Captain Speaking
  2. We came off a Viking river cruise in April and took advantage of post sailing offer to book an Ocean sailing with them for next May. Being new to Viking (just 2 river cruises) I was under the impression that here in the UK we can only book via Viking direct and so no TA additional benefits. Is my understanding correct? Many thanks. Regards
  3. This will be our first Regent cruise and must admit to being very surprised (and a little disappointed) with the amount of switching and ditching going on. That said, really looking forward to our cruise. Regards
  4. Based on both. We have also cruised on all 4 ships.
  5. As a lover of the Azamara experience it’s very sad to see this thread unfold the way it has. With just 4 ships and a relatively small customer base to migrate, I can’t imagine a worse outcome for this project. For those with cruises departing shortly with no flight info, incorrect outstanding financial issues etc, you have my sincere sympathy and I hope it all works it (which it will). Phone wait times of the reported 3+ hours to resolve these urgent issues is wholly unacceptable and just adds to the frustration, anxiety and discontent. No apology from the President was unwise. The only thing I can be confident about right now, is the warm and friendly welcome that will be awaiting you on boarding your ship. The staff from top to bottom are the most engaging we have ever experienced. Best wishes to all impacted.
  6. We too have sailed Azamara on several occasions and like you, have found their itineraries to be really interesting (Greece, Italy intensive etc). However on the 5th May we board the Navigator (again for an interesting itinerary, Miami to Montreal) and our first Regent cruise. Really looking forward to the experience as have heard great things about RSS. Regards
  7. Thank you, that’s reassuring to hear. We have our first Regent cruise booked on her in May (Miami to Montreal) and whilst expecting our Martinis to be shaken not stirred, can’t wait. Regards
  8. These cabins are certainly tight for a couple. We asked for the coffee table to be removed which helped for manoeuvring around. A good midship location however.
  9. We did “Greece Intensive” last July on Azamara and tendering without queuing was a real plus, especially on that itinerary.
  10. It just goes to prove how one person can undo the hard work of so many. Having quality people in guest relations is key critical.
  11. Firstly, it sounds like you will be very comfortable sailing on both lines. We really like them both and overall, find very little to differentiate between the two. However….. The onboard ambiance on Azamara is superb and really adds to our experience and enjoyment. We also find their Captain’s, Officers & crew extra visible, approachable and engaging. So for us, it’s Azamara in a photo finish. That said, the Marina is a lovely ship with more choices of amenities (and the casino can easily be avoided!) and culinary offerings. This would be a consideration for me on your particular sailing. Looks like you’ve a double sided coin from my seat! Whatever one you choose, have a great time. Regards
  12. You could just go round in circles couldn’t you.
  13. Totally agree, Vassi was excellent. On our cruise in July she also did her own show in the theatre, really talented. Sounds like this latest piano player didn’t strike the right note. Regards
  14. We have stayed at the Table Bay hotel when a Cunard ship was docked. It was walking distance to the marina where all the restaurants, cafes, shops etc are located. I suspect (and hope) it will be the same for Regent/you. Table Bay Hotel is fabulously located. If time permits the HOHO bus takes you on some great routes. Hope you have a wonderful cruise. Regards
  15. Lovely set of photos. This topic heading “Four Ships”, could be a surgeon’s take of a famous British comedy sketch by the two Ronnies called “Four Candles”.
  16. This is inexcusable Azamara and an ongoing problem for far too long. To pay a final balance should be option 1 and handled via the “red” phone as a priority. Starting off on the back foot is to no one’s advantage. Hope you soon get this sorted as the onboard experience will be in stark contrast. Regards
  17. Came off Sky Princess last Saturday. No checking of any luggage bags for plastic bottles prior to boarding. Plastic water bottles issued onboard as part of “Princess Plus” drinks package.
  18. Just home from a 7 night Sky Princess cruise. We had pre booked 2 specialty restaurants (Crown & Sabatini’s) but for the other 5 nights went to one of the the 3 MDR’s without a reservation. Despite the cruise being very busy (3250 passengers) we visited the Soleil restaurant on deck 5 at around 7.30pm and never had to wait more then a couple of mins and most times were seated straight away. It certainly helps if your willing to share a table, but those wanting a table for 2 had a minimal wait. Regards
  19. We paid our respects and laid flowers at Sandringham last night.
  20. We had 10 nights on “Onward” in July. Had a great time and well up to par of the other ships. 2.9 out of 3.0 sounds about right!
  21. Hi Yes, I agree the chairs especially look very basic and low rent. However, we found them more comfortable than they look and yes, we could get our legs under the table when eating at both ends. Regards
  22. I’m sure the piano in the Den was originally situated in the corner near the fireplace (Pursuit). This enabled you to hold conversations at the other end. However, on the “Onward” it was placed in the middle which pretty well made general conversation a real difficulty during the music “sessions”.
  23. In as much as acknowledging you have a problem is a good starting point in addressing the problem, quietly encouraged.
