  1. That assumes we know where to catch the ferry and can get there with our luggage. As I wrote in my earlier post that you quoted, we take the bus into the city. I don't want to drive in NY City and parking costs there are ridiculously high.
  2. But if you move it to the top and someone clicks on the star fo go to the first unread post, how do you find it in the pages and pages of responses when it is now at the top?
  3. And they really do not come much smaller than the former Ocean Princess. What a wonderful cruise that was, not only the itinerary, but how on such a small ship you got to really meet other passengers and even crew members. 😊
  4. Oh my. Well at least the passenger did not die in your check in lane. Was the ship's departure delayed?
  5. I don't know or really care how my TA got his rate. All I know and was trying to point out was that the rate posted online may not always be the lowest rate that a TA can offer.
  6. Our Princess cruise in August had an overnight for Edinburgh. Our port was Rosyth. (The ship was the no longer in service for Princess Ocean Princess.)
  7. I am glad someone mentioned a debit card. The holds that drop off should not be a problem with a credit card (unless you are very near to your credit limit), but can cause a major problem with a debit card.
  8. From not that far upstate, when we have cruised from Manhattan we just took a bus to the Port Authority and walked to the terminal. (If the weather was bad we could do a cab.) It was a lot cheaper than any parking in NYC. I would not even know how to get to the Brooklyn embarkation port with out luggage. I don't know if public transportation would be possible. I do know for sure we would no be able to walk there.
  9. I believe it was a cruise line that allowed TAs to discount, but not publish the rate. Also, he may have reserved cabins.
  10. Adding to that, there are some times when a TA can discount a cruise, but not post the discounted price due to restrictions by the cruise line. As an example, we once found on our TA's website 3 cruises to Alaska that met our desired time frame and ports. When I called him, the one with the highest price on the website ended up being the one with the lowest price. If you are going to book with a TA, so it over the phone, not online. That also allows you to ask whatever questions you want to ask.
  11. Yes, and though I only glanced at it quickly, I do remember seeing others in August.
  12. Maybe for sailing through the Red Sea on a world cruise.
  13. One thing that it does that is very BAD is that it no longer shows when the last post was made to the thread. 😒 I am sure I am not the only one who when he comes to these forums knows how long ago he was on last and scrolls down to that point in the forum.
  14. There are even more festivals in August. I saw this in another thread. Edinburgh Festival City | The World's Leading Festival City
  15. I have actually now saw 1 positive comment, but the reaction is still overwhelmingly negative.
  16. One thing I will say for this new format, I never remember making so many likes in one day, all for negative opinions of this new format. 😉
  17. Not sure, but I think R is probably Reddit.
  18. And the negative comments just keep coming. I have not seen a single positive comment.
  19. Buy some OBC at the same time, and it is refundable.
  20. Thank you. DW's late father was a Scotsman. He was an RAF pilot during WWII, and then emigrated to the US where he worked for British Airways (BOAC) when he started. I have been there with DW on both a cruise and a land trip, the latter also with our son. (She had been there earlier as the family still had relatives and flew for free due to his employment.) When we went by land and the Tattoo and Fringe Festival both made hotel rooms very expensive, we stayed in Glasgow and took public transportation to Edinburg every day. In case we decide to go again, could you give the time frame for those other festivals?
  21. We did a Prima cruise London (Southampton) to Reykjavik. Yes, there were movies on the tv, both free and at an additional cost. DW need dumb tv to fall asleep, and it doesn't come much dumber than 80 for Brady. 🤣 There were no theme nights.
  22. But didn't the engineers design the ship in the first place?
  23. The fact that every thread seems to have 0 votes speaks a lot to the reaction from your regular posters. This is a terrible experiment. Giving it until the end of the week is not going to do anything but turn off more people!
  24. And don't forget (unless it has changed), during the same period the Military Tattoo is scheduled, Edinburg also has the Fringe Festival. So much to see and do!
  25. Or the engineers can get it totally wrong! If you ever take a cruise that has Stockholm as a port, visit the Vasa Museum. The ship that was supposed to be totally state of the art, sank basically as soon as it went to sea as it was top heavy.
