  1. We were on the Prima this past summer, and not only our cruise but every scheduled Prima cruise with this port missed it due to the dock not yet being completed. I believe each week they did not cancel until not much before the cruise hoping, or at least saying they were hoping, the construction would be completed, Does anyone know if it has been finished? Or are they still working on it? Or maybe they gave up constructing a dock?
  2. It would be nice if posters just stopped once and for all confusing the Jones Act and the PVSA. I don't know how many times I have read Jones Act when they are talking about cruise ships. It has been explained over and over.
  3. Aren't all the ships non-smoking except for designated areas? I am sensitive to the smell of tobacco smoke and did not get a whiff of it on our 11 days on the Prima this past summer.
  4. Same here except we have mostly been on 7 day cruises. Our longest cruise was this past summer, 11 days.
  5. 😊😊😊😊😊 Yes, lucky in many ways.
  6. Um no, even though dessert is not her favorite, she would take cake over mac and cheese. She lives by "cholesterol will not get past her lips". The last time she made mac and cheese, she made me buy fat free cheese. It was disgusting. 😢
  7. You would think the bean counters at the various cruise lines would at some point figure out that doing this sort of think instead of finding a way to make it right loses customers. And then especially in these times with social media gives them a lot of bad publicity that may also negatively affect someone else from booking their cruise line.
  8. Book it through a TA? But I have read so many times on these boards that you then "lose control" of your booking. It does not seem that the OP when calling to make this simple change had much control of the booking. 🤦‍♂️
  9. They are larger than their competitors, more ships to maintain. I would think that is what forced their debt load to be higher.
  10. Well now you are different. On our first cruise, near the end of it she said "I miss peanut butter and jelly.". She is definitely not a foie gras type of eater.
  11. We once had more OBC than I thought we would use, but my DW also made sure it all got used up when she demanded the most expensive of the excursions to Anne of Green Gables.
  12. There is a difference between a reported loss and a cash loss. Depreciation has to play a large part in the reported loss. The fact that they are significantly paying off the massive debt they were forced to take on to remain afloat has to mean something positive.
  13. I guess that's a compliment both to my DW and you. 😊😊
  14. And when they do not leave a message or leave something inappropriate, report them as spam calls.
  15. Yes, I can see how crossing the international date line would really screw things up. The most time change we have gone through (on a different cruise line) was a cruise that started and ended in Copenhagen and went as far as St. Petersburg, Russia.
  16. Neither is she. I don't think she ordered a single dessert on our cruise this past summer. She did take one taste of my wonderful hot fudge sundae the last dinner and had a taste of the anniversary cake we were provided on our wedding anniversary.
  17. My DW often loses weight on cruises. She definitely does not eat extra, and since she was an art teacher (now retired), our cruises were in the summer. And places in the summer can be very HOT!
  18. We flew international this past summer with BOGO, Newark to Heathrow in London with a transfer in Montreal on Air Canada and then back to Newark from Reykjavik on Iceland Air. We were not charged for our checked bags. For Canada Air we were not supposed to be able to pick our seats to be assigned without extra pay until much later. But I had told the air representative when I called to give our loyalty number and request vegetarian meals that we were going on a cruise from there to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary. He then said could I hold on, and he would see what he could do. He then assigned our seats, and I thanked him. BTW, anyone who ends up with Iceland Air, they do not include a free meal even on transatlantic flights. We had flown with them before and knowing that bought food at the terminal for our flight back home.
  19. Or you could buy things at the gift shops or go to the spa. And if needed, it will work for expenses at the medical center.
  20. I think cooking and gardening were meant as examples. We all have something we enjoy. For me as an example, I volunteer at a food pantry and enjoy that.
  21. Yes, OP here we drink very little or no alcohol on our cruises and it has not been at all a reason not to take a cruise.

  23. Plus, we followed the rules and I had my glasses off for the picture that was uploaded. At the prot, Southampton, I asked do I need to take my glasses off. I was told no, just remove my sunglasses (which were actually on top of my head).
  24. On our Prima cruise this past August, one of the restaurants, the Mexican one was taken over by a group and made into a kosher restaurant reserved for them. There were also a significant number of deaf cruisers aboard. At many events, there was someone using sign language interpreting what was being said. I do not know if NCL provided them or the group aboard provided them.
