  1. A thread with this many posts will more often than not drift off the original topic. The post you complained about is much less off topic than what often happens.
  2. We were on the NCL Prima, London (Southampton to Reykjavik).
  3. Yes, that's what we did with getting from London to Southampton. We took a hotel by the terminal. We did not want to schlep our luggage into London, and it made it easy to get the transfer, just go back to the airport and meet the NCL representative.
  4. Note with BOGO, they credit the first passenger $25, but not the second as they consider the second passenger "free".
  5. And after you finally get the picture uploaded, they retake it at check in anyway.
  6. Yes, the Book of Kells is awe inspiring. IMHO, comparable to the Parthenon and Acropolis in Athens.
  7. Truly a shame. I guess this has changed since we were there on a British Isles cruise. (2014).. I would still think the Book of Kells would still be impressive.
  8. Edinburg has already been discussed in this thread; I agree no tour needed. When we were in Dublin, the one can't miss attraction was the Book of Kells at Trinity College. Off the ship we were near the front of the line waiting to get in and were soon in.
  9. What happens if there is another pandemic and the cruise lines are forced to shut down again? Where are these now "homeless" people to do?
  10. That is of course a good result for you. Make sure you print out that e-mail and bring it with you.
  11. Thanks for clearing that up. (There are too many cynical people here on cc.)
  12. Sorry, but I would not bet on getting it since you are no longer able to privately book it. On Carnival (same corporation, same terms for the price match), we were once able to get the OBC and reduced price for an excursion. (Our TA never thought we would get the price match and OBC, but when I submitted it as there was nothing to lose by doing so, we received it.)
  13. There is more to the world than the Caribbean countries. Actually, at one of the ports we were in last summer, Amsterdam, there were places that did not even accept Euros ! They would only take credit or debit cards, generally Master Card or Visa.
  14. Interesting that you mentioned that NCL usually declines to give permission to disembark early. Our cruise on NCL this past summer ended in Reykjavik, and the day prior was an overnight in Reykjavik. There were some complaints in our roll call from passengers who used the NCL BOGO flight offer that their flights were either very late or even the next day. They said there were early flights from Reykjavik, but NCL would not even consider letting them out early on the day of disembarkation even though they were ported there from the day before.
  15. Maybe @Boatdrill who made us all aware of this situation can comment on that and hopefully tell us that was not the case.
  16. But the OP stated it was in a non-smoking area that she sought out because of her medical condition. Tobacco use would still be prohibited in that area.
  17. Always good to hear from someone who is on the front line when it comes to the problem stated and knows exactly how it would be handled.
  18. We once had a refare that we lost the reduced deposit. If we were not warned by our TA, we would have lost the cruise by not paying the additional deposit.
  19. Almost half of our cruises have been in Europe, ports there are important. But I do agree with you that it is not a one size fits all world and it is a good thing that there are a lor of different cruise options.
  20. We were on the NCL Prima this past August, and before our cruise I read several posts on the NCL board that said finding seating for the buffet was very difficult, but we never had a problem with that.
  21. Agree, we also sail for ports, and definitely not for the "monstrosities of the seas".
  22. Yes, it is unfortunate, but we now live in a time of planned obsolescence.
