  1. Yes we all suffered as well as the cruise lines. Our cancelled cruise was a Norwegian fjords cruise on Princess, though I do not remember which ship it was to be on. We did hit a few of the ports we missed that summer this past summer on our Prima cruise from London (Southampton) to Reykjavik.
  2. Actually, we did not go because of that Covid storm as the cruise we had booked for the summer of 2020 never sailed. 😢
  3. Thanks, I never heard that one, but it makes sense. The "storm" of the Covid pandemic sure did hit all cruise line stocks in a terrible way.
  4. I thought the old saying started with "a rising tide" which of course would be very appropriate for cruise stocks. 😉
  5. We've been married 46 years, so even less new to speak with her. I used to like large tables and meeting new people, but now my hearing is shot which makes carrying on a conversation difficult.
  6. And also basically the entire stock market has been going up the last few days.
  7. I refer to all their newer ships as the Monstrosities of the Seas. We were actually on the Enchantment of the Seas in 2004, and we had a hurricane keep us from returning to Fort Lauderdale for 2 extra days. On the last night the crew put on a show, and one of the assistant cruise directors renamed the ship the Entrapment of the Seas. 🤣
  8. I have received a refund a few times, never a charge for more port fees. I have seen it posted that if they underestimate, they do not charge the passengers. I would think they are required to refund, but for the very few dollars involved, it is not worth it for them to charge and anger passengers.
  9. As for the cost to park, we have found it less expensive to just take the bus to New York City.
  10. It is not surprising that the port taxes are very high for the Panama Canal. See post #6 in this thread to see what is included.
  11. I was filling out a form for a claim when it asked how much other insurance had reimbursed us. So, I had to wait to see how much that would be. And when our secondary insurance (I knew our primary Medicare part B would not cover an overseas charge) paid us 100% of the expense from DW's visit to the ship's medical facility and perscription, I stopped filling out the claim as there was no more to collect.
  12. No, that's the analogy that has been used for a long time.
  13. Yes, Bethel (where the festival was) is much closer. I actually met 2 others on the cruise who had been at the festival. The first one told me he was hitchhiking and stopped by a state trooper who asked where he was going. He replied Woodstock, and was told no he should be trying to get to Bethel. And that conversation actually took place as we were headed to Syd Norman's for their first show.
  14. We were on the Prima in August, and there was definitely a Syd Norman's Pour House. And I don't know how you could have known about the Fleetwood Mac show without realizing it was at Syd Norman's. I even got the opportunity to speak to 2 of the singers about my experience at the original Woodstock festival in 1969.
  15. 🤦‍♂️, oh no, not another Walmart of the seas post. I thought that had all been hashed out earlier.
  16. The old saying is "a rose by any other name is still a rose.". Someone has to do the work of the cruise director no matter what title the person has been given.
  17. We loved the Prima for our cruise from London (Southampton) to Reykjavik, though I would have to agree that there are features that would be much better for a warmer weather cruise.
  18. But they will not admit that. They will just ask what browser you are on, and say it does not work with that one.
  19. We did not cruise for quite a while, but I still kept posting. Our last cruise had been in 2018, Boston to Montreal on HAL. In 2019, we did a land trip instead, an escorted land tour in Peru. We had a Princess cruise into the Norwegian fjords booked for 2020, but Covid intervened. Didn't cruise in 2021 for the same reason. In the fall of 2021, we got an NCL brochure in the mail and fell in love with an itinerary, London (Southampton) to Reykjavik, and figured we would do it the next year for our 45th anniversary. But then we noticed the ship was not yet built, and it was not sailing until this year. So, we skipped 2022 (just a few small land trips) and cruised this past summer on the relatively new Prima celebrating our wedding anniversary on a sea day between Norway and Iceland.
  20. The places in the Netherlands that were not accepting Euros were museums. And since DW is (actually now retired) an art teacher, museums are a go to place in many of our port stops.
  21. Our cc company says they do not need to be notified, but I do it anyway. On our recent cruise, we had trouble using Euros in Amsterdam. Most of the places would only take credit or debit cards. And the rest preffered them.
  22. You're welcome. You will love Tallinn. It's like being in a medieval city. And where have you been? You disappeared for years (unless I am confusing you with someone else.)
  23. Even with them retaking our photos in Southampton for the Prima, the whole process was incredibly quick.
  24. Agree, we took an NCL excursion featuring the architecture of Alesund as an art deco city. We walked the city and went to a museum dedicated to that with a small group and an excellent guide.
