  1. You got the good weather Linda. Rain on way now, passing through ACT now. You wined and dined well, Sandbar and Corrigans. Yes Colin Fassnidge stirred them up. I am 3/4 of a century on Tuesday, my son is coming down and he and my daughter are dragging me out to Zero Bar and Grill, ye olde Donegans. I will let you know what it is like. I have good and bad days, chemo knocking me around. Stay safe it is a jungle out there. Apologies to all re Dame Edna thread hijack, but whats new, 😝.
  2. They are both ex HAL Vista Class ships. In 2012 we sailed on P&O UK Arcadia, Sydney to Southampton, via Africa with a load of stops. 83,000 tonner, just a nice size for a Worldie.
  3. DFAT would not be knocking on next of kin's door, believe me. That task would be flicked onto the nearest State Police by the pen pushers at DFAT.
  4. As we say Geoff, AWS ….Automatic Wage Subsidy.
  5. Well I have been out since 2003, but generally the girls handled the task as well as most of the blokes. They have to.
  6. The boys/men were sometimes called wallflowers, hence the females having to dance with each other.
  7. Hey Gut, me and Barry Bazzaw have not left the building yet, lol.
  8. From all reports...he/she liked the ladies too. My mouth is sealed.🤐
  9. And General McCarthur said..'I shall return' as he departed the Phillipines in WW2.
  10. I would suggest the Senior Security Officer or Staff Captain would contact Police in the area where the passenger(s) reside and police would deliver the death message(s.) Done that a few times not from ships but from Crashes, suicides, etc. Not a pleasant task.👮‍♂️
  11. You are most welcome, most of us on this board are friendly, good to hear you enjoyed the Aussie company and got the bonza bacon.
  12. Some would say that the HAL Vista Class ships, of which they have several, are medium size ships these days.
  13. Tragic if the two incidents are linked.
  14. Several of the older Rydges hotels are in a bad state including the one at the Rocks and the one at North Sydney. Stayed in both. The newer ones are ok like at Mt Panorama, Bathurst, one at Campbelltown and the one at Sydney Airport, the latter is a cracker.
  15. Looks good Lyle, Bratwurst, sauerkraut and spatzle? Lubbly jubbly.
  16. QM2 is an ocean liner, not a cruise ship. She can do just over 30 knots. I have sailed on her, Sydney to Hong Kong, nothing else like her, a superb vessel.
  17. Back in September pre Coral Princess cruise, I stayed at Sydney Harbour Marriott, a stones throw from OPT. Very good hotel. The Marriott price was the same as Rydges that night. Join Marriott loyalty club for best price. I got an excellent room and late checkout. Breakfasted at City Extra opposite ferries.
  18. Been on P&O UK a few times, Arcadia, Oriana and Aurora. Decent ships, food good, entertainment good. They are close to Cunard in terms of tradition, i.e. jacket and tie job in certain areas after 6pm. J jacket and tie in MDR's on formal nights, it is enforced. But otherwise close to Princess. Nothing like P&O Australia.
  19. Like Eden, mystifies me why ships call in there. Very limited shorex attractions. Nice area though.
