  1. Looks good Lyle, Bratwurst, sauerkraut and spatzle? Lubbly jubbly.
  2. QM2 is an ocean liner, not a cruise ship. She can do just over 30 knots. I have sailed on her, Sydney to Hong Kong, nothing else like her, a superb vessel.
  3. Back in September pre Coral Princess cruise, I stayed at Sydney Harbour Marriott, a stones throw from OPT. Very good hotel. The Marriott price was the same as Rydges that night. Join Marriott loyalty club for best price. I got an excellent room and late checkout. Breakfasted at City Extra opposite ferries.
  4. Been on P&O UK a few times, Arcadia, Oriana and Aurora. Decent ships, food good, entertainment good. They are close to Cunard in terms of tradition, i.e. jacket and tie job in certain areas after 6pm. J jacket and tie in MDR's on formal nights, it is enforced. But otherwise close to Princess. Nothing like P&O Australia.
  5. Like Eden, mystifies me why ships call in there. Very limited shorex attractions. Nice area though.
  6. 16, wow you must have been regular Mic.😂
  7. Standby for ye olde Grand Princess to be transferred to P&O Australia to join the other relics, lol. We will probably inherit QM2 in about 10 years, lol.
  8. In short, if you want to cruise other parts of the world you need to take a plane to board the ship. Unless you win the lotto and do the annual world cruise on Princess from/to Sydney.
  9. I had a couple of those in my Elite Mini Bar on Coral Princess last September, I presented them to my cabin steward. As most of you know, being a Coeliac, beers are a no no, and the gf beers are horribilus.
  10. Cunard and P&O UK have some decent Brit draught beers, i.e. Fullers London Pride, Old Speckled Hen, Boddingtons, etc. Plus Thatchers Gold Cider which I consumed a few pints of. As for craft beers on the local ships, Balters, don't know what else.
  11. Having a gf chicken and leek pie for luncheon, just popped it into the K Mart Air Fryer.
  12. Originally made in Argentina, but now made in UK and Australia. In UK you can get chicken ones as well. Fray Bentos is a town/area in Argentina where the meat canning began. Argentina is a wonderful place, spent a couple of weeks there in 2016. Great meat.
  13. Not tried these since coeliac hit me in 2010. They still make them. Any of you pie eaters eaten them recently? They used to be ok. Coles and Woolies sell the steak and kidney version, made in OZ under license by Campbells Soups. Around $10.
  14. When we did the Alaskan cruise in 2006, it was in May, ice around and few ships.
  15. Good points, but if the local authorities won't provide them, then the cruise lines lines should build the shuttle cost into the fare of everybody. 'Fair enough?' When I was in Honolulu the Walmart buses were rolling up to the ships taking pax into Walmart, but as you say young Geoffrey, many just wanted the free lift into town, lol.
  16. Graham, you would know mate, you are at the coal face. Crew sometimes exaggerate to get some sympathy tips, lol.
  17. One would think that Brisbane City Council would put on free shuttles, port to CBD, in order to get more pax to inject $ into the Qld economy.
  18. Or straight from the 60's, mash spud/potato salad in a slice of devon, gross. Went to a wedding once where they served these, admittedly around, 1970, lol.
  19. Are Freddos pies still operating up at Frederickton, up that way? Always a good stop for a good dog's eye.
  20. My son and family were due to fly Syd to Bali today. Last night they got a message from Jetstar..cancelled flight, now fly tomorrow Syd, Melb, Bali. .
  21. Agree Julie, we did Noordam mid 2019, Sydney to Honolulu. Overrated. Food, service and entertaiment sub par. The soups horrible. As you said cabins good. Give me Princess any time.
  22. Good reviews there Neil and Chili, pity you did not meet up for a...
