  1. No worries. I actually investigated this when the Edge first debuted in 2018 and they started using the large grey wall mounted dispensers for the shower products. The bar soap was labeled 'LATHER' and there's a toiletries company named LATHER that many fine hotels and resorts use. I contacted that company via social media to see if they were making the toiletries for Celebrity, since none of the products had any particular manufacturer brand name. They said no, they are not doing business with Celebrity, so the the bar soap named Lather was more about a marketing name about it's function rather than a brand name. I remember the post you're referring to which was in reference to an ingredient in the bar soap that was an exfoliant which was questionable along with the general discussion that the toiletries were made in the PRC.
  2. It's the WINTERTIME in the Northeast..................
  3. Toiletries in Celebrity's standard cabins are NOT Bigalow or any other branded label, just made for Celebrity products.
  4. Faster to Fun is Carnival's version of the Key. With Your Time Dining you cannot make advanced, whole cruise reservations. You can only make same evening reservations when the dining room is open by using the app. It will give you an estimated wait time, for example, about 20-30 mins wait or 40-50 minutes wait. You can then decide if you want to put in your reservation at that point or wait until later. On Dressup night it's ALWAYS a longer wait. The good thing is you can use the app anywhere you are, and then wait anywhere until the app notifies you that your table is ready.
  5. Let's put it this way. With a water fountain, what's the difference for the potential of spreading germs when someone puts a water bottle 5 inches away from the water spout vs someone bending down trying to drink from the same water spout and potentially either touching their mouths to the spout and/or having their saliva drip onto the spout? I much rather someone do the former than the latter. Edit: A Quote from an article written during the pandemic about drinking from water fountains: Filling a water bottle is also better than drinking directly from the fountain, says Angela Rasmussen, a virus researcher at Columbia University. That helps ensure you don’t leave saliva on the fountain, making it safer for others.
  6. My recommendation would be to go to the MDR which is substantially less busy and quieter than the buffet. You can order fruit, oatmeal/porridge, eggs cooked the way you prefer. There's also Lighter Fare menu section which has the Egg white frittata, Yogurt parfait (it's supposed to be made with Greek style yogurt but many a times they substitute the more sugary, less protein regular yogurt),Avocado toast, and breakfast bowl. These choices cannot be found anywhere else on the ship.
  7. The doors don't do anything. The window is what controls the HVAC to turn on or off.
  8. We're doing the Panorama in April and we decided to fly from NYC to LAX nonstop on American. I was able to get a great fare using points on Alaska Air so it's costing only 12,500 pts/pp/ow. Unfortunately the weekend of our cruise is a big event in Long Beach, the Grand Prix, so hotels have been blocked off. I literally have been booking and cancelling 2 nights precruise hotels multiple times as hotel rates and availability changes. I was finally able to book the Residence Inn right near the Carnival terminal the other day. Previously it had been blocked off for the Grand Prix weekend. And I was able to use points too( the cash price is ridiculous at over $460/nt!!!!) The closest hotel to the Carnival pier, besides the Queen Mary, is the Doubletree and for our dates it is still showing sold out.
  9. While Long Beach will obviously be closer than LAX, there's several factors to consider. You can't fly nonstop from East Coast to Long Beach and flights are limited to Long Beach, so there's alot more to consider than just automatically saying Long Beach is where you fly to.
  10. Our experience at Fine Cut on the Apex last July was the same. I didn't care for the Ribeye,it had no flavor whatsoever, and the side dishes were just OK, nothing different than the MDRs. Same with the service, nothing wrong, but it was no better than the MDR.
  11. My husband, who is the gambler in the family, says it's $5,000/day. We double dip buy either using the AMEX Green or Chase Sapphire Reserve credit cards which gives 3X points on travel related charges.I think the most he ever charged was $10.000 so we got 30,000 points to use for travel just for getting money on the cruiseship to gamble!
  12. Definitely all about the individual bartenders, location of bar, how busy, and of course how YOU treat them.
  13. You do know that on Royal they no longer restrict it to the Crown(Diamond) Lounge? As others said it's 5-7 at all bars except for a couple, no restaurants(you can get it at a bar and bring it into the dining room) and not on embarkation/1st day. Most important, unlike Royal, the free drinks is from a selected list, and doesn't apply to all drinks. Whatsmore you can't pay a supplemental for a drink that isn't included, for example you can not order a frozen pina colada from the Elite Happy Hour, and if you do you will pay full price for the drink unless you have a drink package.
  14. The buffet is certainly one area but the fitness center might be a less busy area. There's two sets of water fountains in the fitness center.
  15. No, unless you're part of Celebrity's Blue Chip Club casino program and you're at Onyx level and above, which then the fee is waived. Your best bet is if you have an ATM card the waives/reimburses ATM withdrawal fees then use it to withdraw cash from the onboard ATM.
  16. Just to clarify the answers given, none of the requests can be done PRIOR to boarding (unless you're in a higher level suite) so when you board and finally meet your cabin attendant is when you'll request for extra hangers and emptying of the refrigerator
  17. So I was looking at your itinerary and I looked at United Air connecting in Asia through various codeshare airlines to Bali. So If there was an itinerary on Flights by Celebrity that you can duplicate on United's website I would just call United and ask about how farthrough can you check baggage. If the combination of flights on a itinerary from Flights by Celebrity don't show up on the airline's own website you can be sure you won't be able to check any bags through to your final destination and they are separate flights that Celebrity air just put together. Third party booking sites such as Expedia do this all the time. .
  18. Your questions about Flights by Celebrity shows a misunderstanding of the service. They are just a booking agency, they have no control of the flights. Any flights you see when you use the online service or speak to an agent you can go to the airlines in question, duplicate the same flights, and then call the airlines and ask your questions directly. If you can't duplicate the flights yourself from the initial airline, in other words if Celebrity show a flight originating with A Airline and then connecting with B AIrline, and you go to A Airline's own website and you cannot find a flight that connects to B Airline within A Airline's website, that means Air by Celebrity is just putting together independent flights and there will be no way for luggage to be checked all the way through, since the Airline A and Airline B do not code share. Flights By Celebrity doesn't do their own charters;they're just putting together flights to reach your destination.
  19. Celebrity's Casino Program is being administered by parent company Royal Caribbean's Casino Royale Department. At the present time they are two separate programs and no announcement has been made of any changes, but I would bet that eventually the programs will merge. In any case Blue Chip Club has started to implement some of the same casino gambling incentives as Royal's Casino Royale program. One of them is if you earn a certain threshold of points in the casino you will get a cruise cruise certificate towards the end of the cruise. The cabin type depends on how many points you earned. The way it works is the certificate is good for a certain list of cruises that's only good for 6 months (Royal's program goes out for 12) and there are other qualifications. This free cruise certificate is NOT the same as the emailed and/or postcard mailings of BCC complementary sailings. They are two different incentives and the certificate will have sailings that the emailed offers don't.
  20. Helpful hint: You should decide whether you're both interested in the daily delectable delights (that's the little nothing canape nibbles they send out every afternoon. If not you can tell your cabin attendant you're not interested in having them delivered. Cuts down on waste and disturbances to deliver and pick up)
  21. Congrats! Toiletries should be Bigalow. There is a bar in the Oceanview Cafe, It's combined with Segundo Al Bacio (on the Beyond and Ascent there ANOTHER bar in the back of the buffet). Having said that there are roving servers to take drink orders (There's a small and incomplete drink menu on each table and if it's standing up the server will come over and ask if you want something from the bar. If you decline they will lay the menu down so they know not to ask you again).
  22. The rear entrances to the locker rooms can be a bit confusing. Also, the free, co-ed sauna that's in that rear locker room hallway is in an awkward location directly across from the Women's Locker room rear door. On the Mardi Gras the sauna has a clear glass door, so potentially anyone in the co-ed sauna can see right into the women's locker room when the rear door opens. Fortunately they realized this on the Celebration and the sauna door is now frosted. Having said this did you know that many spas in Germany are fully co-ed naked? And when I say this I mean men and women don't cover up for anything, whether in the sauna, steam room, whirlpool, or even just cooling off on a sun lounger. It was a bit surprising to see a women relaxing on a sun lounger fully nude, with nothing covering up anything. Men and women used the steam and sauna fully naked. And this wasn't even a standalone spa, it was a hotel spa in Berlin.
  23. The only thing that's available to all cruisers, besides the fitness center, is the spa locker rooms. Whatsmore on the Vista and Panorama within the men's and women's spa/gym locker rooms is a small sauna that's free for all to use. Of course you can use the other facilities in the locker rooms such as the individual lockers, individual stall showers, toilets, sinks. On the Radiance there most likely will be a co-ed/shared sauna that's right outside the men's and woman's locker rooms, so no single sex saunas within the locker rooms ( With the Sunshine Class refurbs they did things differently from the 1st Sunshine to the 2nd refurb Sunrise. The Sunshine has a small sauna in the spa locker rooms, so single sex use, while on the Sunrise the locker room design changed and they put 1 shared sauna outside of the locker rooms, so I suspect the Radiance will be the same as the Sunrise)
  24. That's a great win on the Equinox! Agree, same with my husband. If he goes through his gambling budget early in the cruise without any jackpots and/or good hits then that's it, no more gambling. The story with the Apex last July, which was a 12 nt Iceland cruise, is that he did go through his allotment and without any good hits he couldn't play as much as he wanted. He did get the casino host to pay for my Wifi and we got a birthday dinner at Fine Cut with a $100 wine allowance. Still he was down several $K. After the Apex cruise we flew from Rotterdam to Rome and after a few days joined our family on Royal's Odyssey of the Seas for a 7 day Greek Islands cruise. Wouldn't you know on that ship he hit multiples jackpots and not only made back his losses but was ahead several $K. He was able to gamble right up until the last day of the cruise, and speaking with the host he had played enough to have $700 to be wiped off of our bill. Since we were traveling with family members we had all dined in the MDR for the whole cruise, and since the cruise was fully booked there wasn't any good times at any of the Specialty restaurants to treat the family on the last night's dinner. So instead he played Santa Claus and gave all 9 family members a spending allotment of $75 to buy anything they wanted on the ship. Everyone was very appreciative and it was great my husband came out ahead at the end of these two trips!
