  1. Seems to have worked so far -----------------
  2. I wonder how often the itinerary called for Flam rather than Eidfjord. That's where the "one-off" description might fit. Our Flam RR excursion called for a stop at Voss on the way back with a meal at it's "famous hotel." In reality we stopped at the Stalheim on the way to Flam. Maybe it's a matter of when Viking can get a bloc of tickets on the RR?
  3. Because doing so has worked so well in regard to "gratuities."
  4. Hearing someone singing (and playing) "The Boxer" is why I stuck my head into Torshavn one evening.
  5. "Everything in the design is about passenger enjoyment, not revenue production." Bottom line.
  6. My mom said something like that too ----- but it meant something different 😊.
  7. The steward did not present him/herself and show you around the cabin? I thought that was SOP.
  8. I wonder if your "Full-Day Train to Voss" was a one-off that was slapped together for your cruise. I never heard of it and can find it nowhere. Certainly sounds a bit slip-shod.
  9. We did the Flam RR from Flam up to Myrdal. The bus stopped at the Stalheim on the way to Flam for a very good lunch.
  10. Where the Gulf of Finland ports included when you first booked? We got both OBC (only once aboard) and FCC (following completion of cruise) on ours.
  11. Found the notice in the appropriate Viking daily. It was just Norway purchases.
  12. A day or two before the end of our Homelands there was a deal to get VAT back set up in the business area. All you needed was receipts and you got cash back on the spot.
  13. Viking knew about that going in. I wonder if passengers were informed of the possibility.
  14. I never quite got the popularity of the rib eye and agree with the "average " or "so-so" assessment. It is nowhere near a great steak cut & quality-wise, is too thin to cook properly and the flavor comes mostly from tenderizer, marinade and seasoning.
  15. Expressed disappointment. Having already missed out on Gulf of Finland & Mariehamn.
  16. The staff do, indeed, bend over backward but are limited to what is available. Best advice is to bring your own pillow if you are at all fussy.
  17. If you're referring to Bornholm "some compensation" came to $1,000 for us.
  18. Do they not offer a tour to Tantallon? Magnificent!
