  1. Even Celebrity will be building larger ships and retiring smaller ones. Royal will only go to ports that can handle large ships in the future. Tendering is a hassle and unpopular. I don't see small ships on Royals future plans.
  2. Trip Advisor has some recent reviews from last years season. There is a gap between April 2020 and last year in the reviews. And a definite decline in review scores since the resumption. Might want to take a look. Drinks are extra also if I read it correctly. I am going to pass on it when I am up there in August.
  3. It is really more of a Revenue Management software then dynamic pricing. Certainly a surge in demand affects pricing but prices can also change without it. They ramp the waterpark pricing up from 77 to 104 even though there is not much or no demand. They they put a sell on it for 90 or so and people who are following the pricing purchase it thinking it will not go lower. Sold Out doesn't not mean there is no availability. It could mean it is sold out at a particular price point. They do this with cabins all the time. Then suddenly cabins open up and even at lower prices.
  4. If you purchase this the only thing you will get is a refund.
  5. I would not try. Arriving at 2 means getting off at 2.30 or later and then the time to get to Mendenhall. Then you need to get to the whale tour by 5 so that means leaving 4.30 or so. I guess if you wanted to do a quick tour of the visitor center you could make it but any hiking trips would be rushed.
  6. With NCL you have to book a higher class of cabin to get the FREE stuff which you still have to pay the gratuity on. There lowest rates don't include the free stuff but are exactly the same cabins.
  7. American has plenty of non stop flights from DFW to FLL. Why not make it easy on yourself and not spend hours hassling with ground transportation from MIA to the port and back?
  8. Deck plan has been updated to show slides on deck 13 but so far nothing else has changed. Maybe more to come.
  9. Juneau - Plenty to see walking thru town. If you like to hike you can take the tram to a trail that leads to Mount Roberts. The tram is called Goldbelt I believe and it is right outside the cruise dock. Good views. Skagway - A few museums on the history of the Gold Rush era are walkable. Tracy Arm - Tour from a boat only. This is not a port stop. Ketchikan - A couple of history museums on Southeast Alaska and shops are around the dock. There is a Totem Pole museum about 15 minutes away. Good hiking trails start about a mile and a half Northwest of the dock along 3rd avenue. Skagway has some issues with one of the docks and it may not be ready for ships in May. Check the threads about this elsewhere where you can look for updates and check which dock your ship will be at. The dock codes with the rock slide problem are RRA and RRF
  10. It looks like they start at 8am which would not work for cruise ship schedules. Do you know if they have later start times?
  11. The price varies from ship to ship and sailing date. Usually 15 to 20 dollars per day. You can add more devices for around 11 dollars per device. Each device can be used at the same time. It is really more the number of users you pay for but they call it device's. If you have 4 devices and pay the 2 device plan you use any 2 at the same time.
  12. The Independence cruise is during the summer, so I wonder if that has something to do with the high prices. I wonder if that is the standard for the summer, end of year holidays, and spring break. Then they adjust during the year depending on demand. as the cruise gets closer.
  13. Here is a recent review that might help you. I just did this tour and yes, it was a bus ride to the Poop Deck restaurant and beach. If it's cheap it's not that bad. I didn't mind the "sightseeing" as it was a nice drive from one end to the other and you got to see a lot of different areas of New Providence. The beach was nice, but the sun was not out the day we went. It's relatively private. Sure you share the beach with other tour people but it was quiet. The water was cold in December. The food wasn't bad either, but you don't much options for the paid version. you can pay extra for other options. They had chicken tenders with fries or the fish wrap with fries. My only complaint here was they didn't bring the drinks til the food came out so you waited a bit. the wifi didn't work either when we were there, so bring a book or something to keep yourself busy, because it will become boring. I wouldn't do it again, but for a first timer, if it was below $50, do it. Otherwise just go to Junkanoo beach. It's free. Here are a few other comments. "Do yourself a huge favor and stay far away from this turkey." "do not choose this excursion!" "This beach had so much seaweed that no one from the cruse line wanted to get into the water." It looks like it did go to Bahamar not to long ago but now goes to Poop Deck. I have not been myself though. Blue Lagoon and Pearl Island tours also get similar bad reviews. I can confirm Blue lagoon is pretty bad.
  14. You can go on the same itineraries out of Miami far cheaper. Wonder of the Seas is way overpriced. You will see lower prices later in the year for Galveston. Hold off for now.
  15. Kids Sail Free promotion may have prices pumped up. Check again when it is over.
  16. It's one that's built into the rocks with direct water access, most of them are on the right side as you look south from the beach. They are not actually over the water except a part of the deck with a ladder that you climb to get in or out of the water. Coco Cay has true over the water ones that you take a pier to get to one.
  17. Go up to Arashi Beach where there is a large parking lot. You can snorkel there and then try Boca Catalina and Malmok Beaches to the south. It is about a mile from the parking lot to Malmok beach. You may find some parking spots along the way or you can just walk it. I am not sure about snorkel rentals up there, I would secure some in town or just purchase a mask and snorkel to bring with you. Get some reef shoes also. It is rocky along most of that area. If the winds are blowing from the south or west it may be to rough to snorkel and it is no good anyway as the ocean bottom is more like river silt and once it get stirred up you will little or no visibility and it takes a day or two to settle out once the winds quit. There is no need to take a snorkel tour. They all go to the beaches I listed. You will probably see all the snorkel tour boats and 200 or so people stirring up the silt.
  18. Is this ship getting amped in the upcoming drydock? I would like to see playmakers, el loco fresh, and one more bar.
  19. Cruise fares are based on math models that take into account historical demand, current booking activity and price, and forecast models for future demand. There is no telling when price drops occur and how many cabins will be allowed to be offered at the low price. You have to constantly check for price reductions. I do notice the lowest fares usually occur in the morning (US Eastern Time Zone). I got a suite on an 8 day cruise for 1024. After I grabbed it the price went to 2785. It went up and down but never back to 1024. The lowest I saw was 1785.
  20. Another interesting thing in your app under MDR if you scroll thru the Know Before You Go info it says an 18 percent gratuity will be added to your check. Most likely it is for those who order the Chops items like filet and Lobster, at least for now. But, if you go to the website and open your cruise planner and go to Dining the MDR My Time Dining is an option for Specialty Restaurants with a current price of 0.00. I wonder if that is going to become a fee soon.
  21. To find the menu for the MDR launch the app then go to Dining down at the bottom for your sailing date. Once the dining page opens go to Main Dining near the top. When the Main Dining page loads select one of the decks listed. Once that deck loads look for Menu highlighted in blue near the middle of the page. Once you select Menu you can scroll thru the days down at the bottom. I am also not seeing a lunch time except for a few days so maybe they are cutting back from everyday to twice a week.
  22. I have several items I have cancelled and purchased again but I never got the cancellation failed message. Some of the cancelled items have been refunded and some are still hanging out there. I would give it a few more days. The ones I am still waiting on for a refund are the internet packages.
