  1. Actually, the system is very glitchy. I have been able to book a table for 4 for my husband and I as well as our son and daughter in law who have only sailed Regent a few times at the time as soon as I was able to book reservations. Then another time, we were sailing with friends who are the same level as us, and I wasn't able to get the booking to work--got an error message.
  2. Has anyone actually been successful in renting a car at the port recently? I tried to go through the National website, but it makes no mention of being able to rent at the port.
  3. Tried to make reservation at DaVinci. Alas, it is closed on Sunday and Monday which are the nights we are going to be there. Will check out the other suggestions though.
  4. good to know. I had seen DaVinci online and it looks like a great choice.
  5. good information. I have been to Venice many times, no need to return with such a hassle involved.
  6. Thanks to everyone for the info about ArriveCan--and here I thought it was just me being inept. We are staying at the Vogue hotel which is a Hilton property as my husband is Hilton diamond (though I am currently at odds with the regarding another issue). Good to see food recommendations as above and any others are appreciated. We have been to Montreal twice but only to disembark a ship and fly out, never to spend any actual time.
  7. The midship veranda cabins on 6 and 7 are very nice. No need to upgrade beyond that. We have sailed on Cloud 3 times, and that is always our choice.
  8. Hanging jacket on the back of the chair, really?? I freeze indoors most of the time in summer. I hope you have taken sufficient layers and can bundle up.
  9. You should be able to find a trivia team easily. Just turn up the first day, let it be known you are looking for a team, and if they figure out you are Dutch, you will be snapped up immediately. As above, trivia is serious business on Silversea. (My husband’s best friend is from the Netherlands. The most unlikely of friends—an Oklahoma rancher and a very European Dutch accountant.)
  10. Walk in closet is one of my requirements, mainly because I generally get up way earlier than my husband and like to be able to get dressed without disturbing him.
  11. Good information as we embark in Montreal in a few weeks. We are flying in 2 days early as I don’t trust airlines these days, so will either need to do the test in Tulsa the day before we leave or get one of those proctored self tests. I did download the ArriveCAN app. I put in all our info until it got to the part to enter your arrival flights. And for some reason, it won’t let me en ter a date beyond the end of August. So I will give that another try when September rolls around.
  12. I hadn't heard about the issues in Mexico. We have a family trip planned to Puerto Vallarta in January, and my best friend and her husband are leaving for there (same resort) today. Should I be worried? She hasn't said a thing to me about it.
  13. And the big question of whether Japan will open to cruise ships by then. We are on Tokyo to Tokyo in March--if it sails!
  14. I have used Alain at Dream tours 3 times. Very good service. Highly recommend.
  15. That is weird. I have definitely gotten change in euros onboard
  16. We have booked two cabins next to each other when the boys were younger. Put them in one and us in the other and never had a problem, but they were under strict orders to behave. The cabin stewards spoiled them though.
  17. They have heaters and blankets. It is actually comfortable--and I enjoyed a couple of meals there with stumblefoot and jpalbany in Antarctica.
  18. I do love St Emilion. But there are definitely some steep cobble stone streets there. No flip flop sandals should be worn--i learned the hard way.
  19. So glad you like the Navigator. We love that little ship. It isn't nearly as grand as the newer ships, but the suites are nice. And you can go some places larger ships can't.
  20. Oklahoma steak is way better than Kansas steak. Lol. Nicer grass here.
  21. You should check it out. We have had mostly good luck.
  22. just call an Uber. Super easy. Have done it a couple of times there.
  23. correct. over 100 nights of Silversea expedition ships and George has never taken a jacket. I, OTOH, like to dress up so still take some fancy dresses, shoes, etc. But am definitely in the minority.
  24. looking forward to following along. Have a great trip while I slog along at work! That is a very interesting looking hotel.
  25. Loving all the pics and commentary. As far as carving station, they have one at lunch every day in La Veranda with some sort of meat or fish. I haven't ever seen a strictly ham every day one.
