  1. Buy a SIM card with US minutes. There are a couple of discussions in this area that discuss the subject. If you have a newer phone it may support eSIM.
  2. Most likely you will technically enter the US before boarding the plane. Regardless, if you carry a valid Canadian passport you do not require a visa or ESTA to enter the US as a tourist.
  3. If you use Chrome, go to boards.cruisecritic.com then tap the 3 vertical dot menu button far right of the toolbar and select Install app. If you are using the Samsung browser, go to boards.cruisecritic.com, tap the 3 horizontal bar menu button on the right side of the browser toolbar, (bottom right of the screen) and select + Add page to then pick Apps screen on the pop-up menu.
  4. 😂😂😂😂 The best approaches to emergency planning are KISS. Using a system that involves multiple fail points is a waste of effort and treasure.
  5. Ridiculous. Business decisions made by companies do not make the comparison invalid. Both industries faced similar circumstances. The fact that one industry was less able to handle the situation because of particular business practices has no bearing.
  6. I take it you had no interest in understanding the impact of the pandemic on airlines. In fact the situation was worse than the cruise lines as they had to continue providing essential services despite ruinously low loads. They did not have the luxury of shutting down all operations. As to handling "frequent" changes. Cruise lines have to handle frequent changes, they do it all the time. The fact that their IT is ridiculously dated, is a testament to management's drive for near term profits over long term efficiency. I see no reason to excuse that choice.
  7. The response should be interesting. I'm of the opinion that both the old muster practice and e-muster have weaknesses. I doubt one is significantly better than the other. The problem is people. Specifically people that have never experienced a serious emergency and don't want to interrupt their fun. I'm not sure there is a fix for this 🙂. Panic is a definite concern. Relying on smart phones to assist muster in an emergency is a seriously bad idea. It counts on the emergency not involving any part of the extensive hardware support devoted to signal propagation on a ship. I can also imagine people arguing with crew when local conditions require a deviation. There is also the problem of people not understanding the instructions. I suppose the amber alert model might be useful. I don't think anything more extensive would prove practical.
  8. Missed that, thanks for clarifying. Still doesn't change the fact that company took a booking, i.e. made a sale, then cancelled. I have no problems with a company refusing to make a sale. My problem, if I understand the circumstances correctly, is that a sale was solicited then agreed to and subsequently cancelled for reasons outside the contract.
  9. Entirely different circumstance. If I understood correctly, OP received a direct solicitation. And company did make a sale, even if not obligated. Certainly a business has a right to refuse service but not after an offer has been made and accepted. Unless the pre stated and explicit sale terms are violated. Certainly an after sale "oh you are on our super secret no sale list" does not qualify. The offer should not have been made in that case. (The excuse that the company is so big one department doesn't know what another is doing would be specious.) Many are assuming that the company feels it was owed an amount. If that were so, the company should demand payment. The absence of such a demand makes me think all those making this assumption are in error.
  10. Making assumptions with no real evidence. Besides, since when are mega corporations always in the right? ... Only on CC when it's a cruise line 🙂. If a company can't be bothered to tell a customer it is owed something and then solicits and sells another product, it seems to me that the company is obligated to deliver the second product. Simply refusing to provide the sold product without an explanation is just bad business practice.
  11. If you are using Chrome, menu (3 vertical dots top right of tool bar), Add to home screen. You can do this for any CC page, or any other web page. If you don't see Add to home screen, there is an app for the page so select Install app.

  13. On some systems rotating the display to landscape will enable the desktop display. Otherwise, in Content Type select Topic and pick the topics in the drop down list that appears below the content types. To select multiple, long tap.
  14. Sadly it's so. New posts will appear as unread. One can use post recency as a search criteria. Judicious use of this criteria may reduce the number of posts to be checked.
  15. I did read your first post. I posted the link so anyone else looking at this thread for help would easily have the link.

  18. According to the FDA insulin in sealed vials and pens can be stored at room temperature for up to 28 days. See https://www.fda.gov/drugs/emergency-preparedness-drugs/information-regarding-insulin-storage-and-switching-between-products-emergency#:~:text=Insulin products contained in vials, days and continue to work. 19. Some browsers have a page load progress indicator. Chrome on Android for instance displays a thin blue progress bar above the page area. The page is not entirely loaded while that bar advances. Until the page is "fully" loaded, the browser cannot navigate to the first unread post. Patience is required.
  20. Tapping / clicking the colored heart, smiley, or trophy will provide a list of usernames that made the reaction. On the list that pops up in the top right corner is a down arrowhead. Tapping / clicking the arrowhead will drop a list of reaction counts.
  21. I get incredibly annoyed with ignorant emails like this. I don't mind the offer, but not knowing that you just got off Scarlet Lady is inexcusable in my eyes. Surely the software should be able to account for recent history. 😨
