  1. It appeared automatically for us. Be aware of dry cleaning and pressing benefit being useful.as well. A head up you cannot use your laundry benefit the last couple days of your cruise AND remember things are washed in VERY hot water that can shrink and fade things.
  2. Lots easier, more secure and in my experience faster to: Stick a piece of masking tape to your luggage with your cabin number. Have a porter put a string tag on your bag that is less likely to tear off than a piece of paper. Yes, many use luggage tag holders. Agree they work great.
  3. The portion sizes have gotten steadily smaller. Absolutely agree that the steak barely qualifies. We solved smaller portions long before covid be stating when ordering exactly what we wanted. 12 shrimp in a shrimp cocktail- appeared without asking again. Cabin not made up when we board is again nothing new. We simply go get something to eat followed by finding a quiet place to read. If on a new ship we explore. By 2pm at the latest always ready. And luggage totally varies. Since Celebrity is not allowed to load luggage onto the ship; arrival times have sometimes been early evening in pre covid days. Have not experienced your issue with cabin service, I know our steward on our last cruise often waited until 11am for several to go to eat. So 2pm was when he usually finished - partially because of lots of children and daily bed up & down. And comparing similar lines - X, Princess, HAL - not much difference. If short staff or passengers at capacity things are challenging. The reverse applies as well.
  4. Depending on your phone you can set your phone to ignore Cellular at Sea. Good signal in every port with TMobile. In December we only connected to TMobile and got the Welcome to Mexico message only at the first Mexican port. Then similar message in Costa Rica etc. We used the internet and texting features in those countries. Also in port used the WiFi to make outgoing calls to North America.
  5. Think of where the pier is located in SF. Then ships are required to use VERY expensive shore power. On an overnight stay the power and pier fees would cost more than cruising. The OP has made this post in multiple forums. Probably important that the cruiselines do not set the port charges or taxes. They are passed thru. Same for the Panama Canal that charges based on bed capacity at about $220 this year - adjusted each year. Does it make any difference how the charges are paid? They are what they are.
  6. Very similar to what we had in December from San Pedro to FLL for 7 ports plus the canal. What is interesting is the Panama Canal company charges cruise ships by the bed capacity for their priority transit. The fees in the canal go up each year by some sort of inflation index. I thought the fees except for the canal reasonable.
  7. Last August usually had no additional charge. Other times $1 tp $2.
  8. I completely agree that a 30 days to check on the change is not acceptable. Most changes could be done electronically and automatically - just like the airlines. Why can't FBC tell you what happened? Except for weather - those changes are always last minute - about 95% of changes are the times for takeoff or landing. Most of those are 10 minutes or less. Last month had NINE changes on our AA flights from FLL to Arizona. None more than 10 minutes +/-. Took a day or more to get notification from FBC. We were already home before we received the last 5 changes. Got every tiny change instantly from the airline.
  9. Panama Canal is expensive. In the area of $200pp.
  10. We have had the liquor delivered on the last day of our first cruise. Have also had it not delivered until the night we finished our second cruise. No way to know for sure.
  11. What ship? What type of cabin? What is the date of sailing? I can note an $1849pp fare would be $3700. Add in taxes and port charges of $150pp which is pretty normal and I get to $4000 as a total.
  12. You posted a link to the OP. If the bars were closed on sea days don't you think there would have been OTHER posts and videos? Lots of them.
  13. I disagree as well. On our last cruise our cabin attendant needed a laptop computer. He lacked sufficient cash to make the purchase. Having a bit of extra cash money for tips made it possible. We used the internet and had a laptop ready at the next port.
  14. And which port? Celebrity docks at 3! Amsterdam (near the central train station), Rotterdam (about 30 minutes from Amsterdam) and Ijmuiden (about 20 minutes north from Amsterdam.
  15. There is an entire forum on exactly this
  16. I was clearly told by the executive office that if we missed the ship that we could NOT rejoin the cruise at the next port. Was told safe contents and RX would be left with the port agent. Could reclaim clothing at final port. Think it is nonsense, but lots is crazy today.
  17. Pure BS. You have a right to your opinion about the staff being paid to provide a service and a living wage. Your opinion is simply put wrong. In US based businesses many people such as waitresses have a two tiered wage system. In Arkansas everyone except workers that receive a significant portion of their wages in tips have a minimum wage of $11/hour. Wait staff get $2.63! You have paid for your passage. Not much else. Spent years educating my Aissie friends about the differences in how restaurant workers are paid here and there. The gratuities that you choose to withhold often mean whether a family member in India or Pakistan has food and clothing. While no tipping is fine in the UK or Australia you need to LEARN that the system is different on board a ship.
  18. The heavier robes in Aqua will fit a 2X. If over 6' they are a bit short. The regular waffle cloth robes barely fit me - 6'2" 190lbs.
  19. Where are you boarding? Some ports are strict and others are not. Generally by 2pm there are no lines. However, you never know. Worst thing would be you wait a while.
  20. You will be assigned a suite in the category you purchase. Cabins can be assigned as long as 4 months or as little as a couple weeks before sail date. Usually around the final.payment date. I have always called immediately after final payment date and either had a cabin assigned or often was able to request a change to an open cabin.
  21. Agree, good laugh. You definitely have three choices #1 - don't order room service #2 - pay the $ for room service #3 - don't cruise so you have no fees at all
  22. 2.5m seas would cancel a port? Really. As for Tasmania, have spent many weeks there. 40kt winds are not unusual. Just has 3.5m seas from Cartagena Colombia to FLL. Rocked me to sleep.
  23. MV is new to Celebrity. Most ships tender to Oak Bluffs. When is your cruise. Shore excursions often do not appear until a few months or even weeks before a cruise. Getting new operators is a time consuming process with all the hoops X requires.
  24. Buy knives on shore and you will either be allowed to take them to your cabin OR they will be stored until you disembark. No worries
