Or just get good cruise insurance that will cover cost to next port (what ever country it is). Days taking cruise tours are long gone. Have no fears getting us where we need to go with a passport and credit card. Always DIY at any pier we have gone. Making the plans if half the fun. Cheers

Or, just keep it as it is now and don't allow any guest in period. Just the passengers who paid for the upgrade allowed in. There is no reason to try "selling" the idea to someone the benefits of Reserve Class dinning (it's filled up as is). All they need to know is it's an upgrade in dinning and then make the financial decision for themselves next cruise. We never had a meal there before deciding we wanted to upgrade for it. Happy Holidays right back at you😊. Requesting and getting the same wait staff every night is very easy to obtain (we do this). Getting the exact same table every night doesn’t always happen, mostly at window tables. But, they will sit you close to the table you like so you can get the same wait staff (which is more important to us once we find the A+ team😊). Cheers and have a fantastic cruise and New years🎉🥳

@dixiejen, I hope you both have a wonderful time on your first Princess cruise. If you have only done traditional style dining then you would understand that the first set dining time your table was being used before the 2nd set dining time (your table wasn’t sitting there empty because you had it 2nd dinning time). Princess instead offers “dine anytime” which is opposite of traditional dining time. Why I asked what time you dined, if you said 5:00 every evening (when they open), then I would say possibly you might ask and get that two-topper by the window every evening. Because the table by the window is in a prime position, they are not going to tell other passengers dining in the in reserve collection earlier that evening they can’t sit there (like at 5:30 or 6:00). There are no assigned tables or assigned times at reserve collection and anyone can ask to be sat at any empty table they see open. They simply don’t have enough tables to use them only once per night (just think of a normal restaurant on land that is first come, first serve). Saying all that, since you will be eating later (7:45 to 8:15) it just might work out that you can get that prime location table after the first couple is done dinning at that specific table, just won’t know until you show up? What time were you planning on dinning at a window table and how long do you think it’s fair to hold that table from all the other guest that have reserved collection dinning? Cheers

This has been a interesting thread to me and like most things in life, there is no one size fits all. For us, it feels less of a financial burden to purchase gift cards at a 8% discount through AARP (use to be 10%) on a monthly cycle than paying the full amount at the end. My TA has no problems receiving them on a monthly basis so it was literally minutes between buying gift cards and forwarding on to her. I usually start the monthly purchases 5 months before final payment day so I know the 8% was better than any low risk interest I could make in the same time frame. And using my credit card to purchase GC’s added another 2% like many other posts above. As far as insurance, most all 3rd party policies I use only go by final payment date, so I always left a little balance to pay at the final payment date and got insurance a few days before that. But again, it’s not saying my way is the best for everyone, just works for us. Cheers

How is Princess’s new app coming along?🤣

We enjoy casinos very much but we never set foot inside a casino on Princess because of the smoke. We still have always enjoyed our Princess cruises very much and consider it a big savings not playing in their casino. If you must need to set foot inside a casino to make your cruise a better experience than stay with X and keep your money away from Princess and their indoor smoking policy (I still can't believe a cruise ship would have indoor smoking). Wow, not only does this change plans for everyone boarding but, think about all the disembarking passengers missing flight home. At lease everyone has a 2 day notice to make changes.

I’m in a very sincere way am asking what concerns you about being tracked on a ship? I read this a few times and I’m honestly curious what Princess would do to a passenger with this info? I personally feel any company wouldn’t waste any resource whatsoever on having someone secretly follow my tracts on a ship. As I said, just curious of a reason? Thanks

Southwest will still be their competition from west coast so not a monopoly (as well as all the other majors). Honestly, I don’t remember one airline merger the Feds didn’t allow to happen (and there has been so many).

Well I do too but, I’m just going by recent history. We love HA and actually flying them in a couple weeks to Maui (always fly them to the islands). Just feels like I’m loosing the airline we enjoy so much.

I have never experienced this in my life. Every cruise line we have ever sailed with always had you pick up you card key to your cabin at check in at the port. The last thing in the world we would want is our cabin unlocked and the keys sitting inside for anyone to pick up. Makes no sense to me whatsoever 🤪
