Blackjack card counting
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to HappyTexan44's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I know that it makes a basic strategy played game much worse, but don't know how much it would affect a good counter. To make it even worse, the dealer must draw to soft 17 aswell. -
Blackjack card counting
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to HappyTexan44's topic in Royal Caribbean International
They have single deck BlackJack on the Enchantment but they offer the lousy 6/5 , don't know how that would affect the profits if compared to the normal 3/2 odds on Blackjack. -
Billion Dollar Profit
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to Slidell_Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I agree 100% even if the food isn't the same now as when we started cruising 2008 (miss the midnight buffet) we have always found something that we like. Both in Windjammer and MDR. Is it 5* food? No, absolutely not, but it is usually better than what we eat everyday when not cruising. -
New "crown lounge" rule
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to colesc15's topic in Royal Caribbean International
True, lots of more people becoming higher status with time, but it also works the other way. Some of the top tiers, will fall of as they age into an age where they can't cruise anymore.. Most of those that were in the 70-80 age span in the early 2000s are probably not cruising anymore. It would be interesting to know how much of an increase the higher levels have had over time. (considering more and larger ships also means more passengers) -
Going rate per bag for Porters?
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to Truluv's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We never have more than two bags so I usually give a $10 bill and don't think more about it. -

What obesity problem? Big is beautiful ð Joking aside, I think most western countries have similar problems, junk food, low quality food and health problems are rising everywhere (in the west) -

Casino Sea Pass Card Question

Is that now confirmed that the free drinks are only while actively playing? If so I really hope they will be as bad at enforcing it as they are with the chair hog situation.. -

Time to watch rcl stock again
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to firefly333's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I am not basing my strategy solely on strangers info from the internet but I find it interesting and helpful to hear what (most) people have to say. At the end of the day I of course make my own decisions, but I need to base it on SOMETHING, be it economy forums, stock charts OR even strangers on different boards (including this one) and thats why I ask to hear what others think. -
Time to watch rcl stock again
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to firefly333's topic in Royal Caribbean International
So for a longtime investor not interested in trading, where do you see RCI stock in say, a year? (Unless WW3 breaks out..) Bought at $37 many years ago, have no plans to sell for another 2-5 years consider buying more, but don't know if the current price is too high.. Should I buy now or wait... OR go for NCL instead...? So many choises.. ð -
Solarium now 18+
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to Ourusualbeach's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Hahaha! You are 110% right. Some people consider it ok for their little angels to run around screaming, jumping in the hottubs and splashing water everywhere, including in other peoples drinks. For them their children are well behaved or at least just "being children" Some adults are not better, some people consider dress shorts and poloshirts to be "well dressed" for formal nights in MDR while other mostly of the top tier in the loyalty program thinks they have the right to skip every line on the ship just beacuse of their status and became upset and complain about "rude" people when questioned... -
I am going on the Enchantment in about a month and the cruise ends in Barcelona, I have a flight from Barcelona at 5 pm and am considering prebuying this "excursion" from RCI. But I am wondering whats in it? The information is scarce, mostly something like "marvel at the sculptured figures from the windows of a motorcoach while you pass the surreal creations of architect Gaudi" Lots of superlatives but not much info about whats actually in the sightseeing tour. Have anyone taken it? I took a similar tour a month ago from Southampton while debarking Anthem wich included Stonehenge and airport dropoff and what bothered me there was that it said that the trip would start at 8 am in the theather, fine, the first day on the cruise we got a notice that the time was changed to 7 am... Fine, we went there at 6.40 am and watched all the others drop in until 8 am.. we finally left the ship at about 8.15-8.30 in a very unorganized way. ( I thought that if they say 7 am, well thats when we debark then, not more than an hour later) Sorry for my rant, does anyone know if its worth taking?

Bring bottle of wine onboard at a port?
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to KKB's topic in Royal Caribbean International
No, they will take it from you, and give it back on the last evening of the cruise, same with booze. Strangely they never take the 2-4 cans of beer we buy on land. Maybe they think it is soda or maybe they don't care. -

Hideaway Beach at Perfect Day
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to Newcruiser215's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Would make sense financially, make it a clothing optional area and charge $500 to get in. Couples only or no single men to not make it a sausage party. It would probably sell out to the Miami party crowd on the short weekend cruises ð -
Hideaway Beach at Perfect Day
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to Newcruiser215's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I personally hate the adult kindergarten that the present pool is. Loud DJ that is encoruraging all the drunk people in the pool "everybody clap your hands" "everybody says: Whay Oah!" Reminds me of children playing.BUT the pool is packed, so obviously enought people like it. I have loved South Beach since it was called Barefoot beach and is satisfied with the sea, beach and floating bar. All I need. If I want a pool party I will go to Vegas instead. Regarding the prices, as much as I dislike the raises on everything, just look at the over water cabanas, now at almost $4000 they are still sold out. Aqua park for more than $200? still long lines in there. I think that within a year the new adults only area in Coco Cay will also be over $200. Three weeks ago I was on the Anthem from the UK, drink package was over $100 per day if buying onboard and there was a long line of people waiting to buy on the Royal Esplanade, crazy. Lots of people in the casino betting $8 dollar per spin on the slots. My only conclusion is that the "recession" and harder economic times isn't visible on the cruise ships and that (most) of those people that still cruise have lots of money to spend. Those that are more, let me say "price sensitive" will stay at home and don't cruise at all. That way those that still cruise are spending as never before, regardless of the higher prices now compared to pre covid. I think that their primary market now is upper/middle class families, better have a family cruise once per year and paying $8000 for an inside on Icon than a Diamond plus that pays 1400 on an older ship and sails 4 times a year and drinks for free due to their loyalty status. Loyalty doesn't matter much when they sell out the ships to new cruisers, I actually think that they regret the double C&A point offer they had last year, it got me and tons more from Gold to Diamond within a year, and in my case, with only on 3 cruises in an inside. More profitable for them to have a line of new cruiser that wants to buy the drink package onboard. So far their strategy seems to have worked, the stock price is up about 50% this year alone. Do I like it? No, but in todays world no large corporate business seems to think more than 6 month in advance. Everything for the short time returns. -

Gratuities [eeeek]
LittleJoefromKokomo replied to zimmerman's topic in Royal Caribbean International
This actually happened two weeks ago on my Anthem UK cruise. I was waiting in line and there was one American (or Canadian couple, hard for an European like me to tell the difference) before me and they got upset that the person in front of them removed their tips. "Did you hear that!? She removed her auto gratuities!" The woman said to her partner. I actually also heard it since she was only a few steps away from us all in the line. Highly anecdotial but it still happened. Not that it matter though. Each to his own.
