  1. Getting hurt or sick on a cruise ship is not a pleasant experience. Our family had a similar experience when contacting Covid on a Princess ship plus luggage was lost also. Also, a family member injured themselves on a Princess ship off of South America and it was a 4 day ordeal getting back home for appropriate treatment. Even with Princess insurance you really have to advocate for yourself and expect that they want you out of their hair ASAP.
  2. First of all I have yet to see "any press" about this cancellation appear in any major US news organization releases unless you consider CC equivalent to The NY Times or LA Times? People can point fingers all they want but the ship is not going to sail until the ship is ready to sail. Unexpected events happen all the time when traveling and people need to learn to rally quickly to keep moving forward and make the most of any experience.
  3. It is surprising that as one "how should I dress" thread dies a natural death another one pops up on CC. Are people really that insecure that they do not know how to dress on a cruse or what to wear to dinner? Really? Wow! In reality it is just a ship full of regular people, on vacation having a good time with a myriad of activities, with dinner being just one activity. Most people do not care the least what others are wearing or do they even notice. I think people should adhere to the nos. No tank tops, swim suits etc. Other than that, I feel everyone is entitled to their own definition of formal and casual. If someone's definition is way off then it is up to the cruise line to deal with if they want to or not. More than likely --- not.
  4. This topic just becomes more ridiculous each time it is brought up about every 10 days. Are people so insecure they cannot figure out how to dress on a cruise ship? Wear what you enjoy and think is suitable for the occasion/experience and go to the MDR on formal night. Be comfortable and look what YOU consider your best. We have seen very few passengers ever turned away from the MDR's. It is a rarity! Just enjoy your cruise and do not worry about what others are wearing. Nobody will care in the end. Princess definitely will not care for sure.
  5. Have you called Princess recently? Most of the reps at the Philippine call center are clueless, useless and powerless to do anything even though they represent Princess.
  6. Not sure what all the excitement is about being on a Princess Inaugural Cruise. We have been on two, Regal and Majestic, and as far as we could tell it was absolutely a non-event. Nothing special really happened, we were not given any special souvenirs and it seems just like a regular sailing. Sorry about the short notice cancellation though because that does create major headaches for many passengers. Princess should have been more transparent but that seems to be lacking these days with them.
  7. I really think too much is being read into this and some people are hoping that the MDR's equate to what you wear which is really hard to believe because Princess has been going in the opposite direction of formal wear in recent years.
  8. I am sure this has to do with food and not dress. I cannot imagine the lines, arguments, and confusion Princess would create if they started sorting people out by what they were wearing as to where they eat. As we know dress style is even more subjective than food.
  9. Hope the meals do not disappoint. We find Dress to Impress night meals are pretty average and often not that upscale.

  11. You will probably get attacked because the Princess apologists never see anything even remotely wrong with the way Princess does business nowadays. It has been our experience in the last year that Princess has been on a downward spiral in many areas. The first that comes to mind is that horrible call center they use in the Philippines. Also, Elite perks have been cut, menus have been cut, level of quality entertainers has been cut and the list goes on and on from the quality experience Princess use to always provide.
  12. I think they were referring to your quote "To all those that are negative about Princess changing its loyalty program........stay tuned for a major announcement to be made within the month! I understand it will be exciting" as being nothing more then a rumor and they used the dress code as an analogy to get support their point of view. Happy New Year!
  13. Agree whole heartedly. I have learned the hard way that every time I get an agent from that call center I immediately hang up because it is just not worth the time, effort and grief you have to go through to work with those inept agents. Better to just hang up and call back again and hope for more competent agents. Unbelievable Princess is still using them.
  14. We are both military and on our upcoming cruise we got our Military benefits and the Stockholder OBC. I thought Princess went back to allowing this after they got pushback for trying to deny the Shareholder OBC to deserving veterans.
  15. I agree. There is an awful lot of lip syncing and auto - tune used in those shows. We always come away feeling (when we do sit through one) that they are just a cut above a high school musical.
  16. Those pictures are totally misleading and means nothing. It is a formal night and that is a group of passengers that got dressed up to have their pictures taken with an officer at the Champagne Waterfall. It is hardly representative of the full ship and as many of us know very few people really go to the Champagne Waterfall when they have them.
  17. Agree. Some people are just trying to scare others into dressing a certain way and we really do not care what people wear on the cruise or MDR because the reality is most people dress within the norms and, as noted by many, Princess RARELY intervenes. We always cruise in Reserve Class now and we have never seen anyone confronted for the clothes they are wearing and we have seen the shorts, flip flops, t-shirts, baseball caps etc. (even on formal nights) and those passengers are always greeted graciously by staff. Not sure if Reserve Class follows same dress code suggestion as the rest of the MDR's.
  18. Must not be that big a deal and not that many people complaining about it because we have never found it a problem or has anybody we travel with ever commented on the sound volume on a Princess ship. I know people have complained for years about the smoke, a proven health hazard for those around second hand smoke, in Princess's casinos and their solution to that was to cancel the several smoke free nights they did have. Time to move on.
  19. Agree and volume is such a subjective thing. Are passengers really carrying decibel meters and have data that the sound is approaching a dangerous level for humans. I doubt it. We think the sound on the Lido deck when movies are played is much more ear shattering than what happens in the Piazza. I have a feeling it is more a generational thing then anything else.
  20. The OP seems to think they can get this resolved quickly in a small claims court. I really doubt that will happen and I am pretty sure they will get nothing from CCL. Again, people rarely ever win a suit against a cruise line in the US even when they have major injuries that people witnessed happening on a cruise line, like a slip and fall and broken leg, for example. Hope they get back to us in a year and a half or longer and let us know how it turned out for them.
  21. Carnival is bleeding red ink and probably because of all the darts being thrown at it. As of October 19, 2023, Carnival Corp had a $14.6 billion market capitalization, putting it in the 90th percentile of companies in the Hotels, Motels & Cruise Lines industry. Carnival Corp does not have a meaningful P/E due to negative earnings over the last 12 trailing months. Carnival Corp’s trailing 12-month revenue is $20.0 billion with a -8.1% profit margin. Year-over-year quarterly sales growth most recently was 59.2%. Analysts expect adjusted earnings to reach $-0.089 per share for the current fiscal year. Carnival Corp does not pay a dividend. But go ahead and put everything you own on CCL if it is such a sure thing.
  22. CCL is not doing what most companies in the market are doing. CCL has a whopping $32 BILLION dollars in debt and had to pay $539 million dollars in interest expenses which lead to a $693 million dollar loss for that quarter. Those interest payments will have to be made because of the debt they are carrying. It is not making money. Most companies are not in that position and CCL will continue to be in a low stock range it is now in for the foreseeable future. They better hope for a strong economy to continue because a recession will dig even a deeper hole for them.
  23. Most analysts spell it out pretty clearly about CCL and it's debt and interest payments alone are a big drag on the company's performance: "Over the next few years, the size of Carnival's debt maturities will ramp up significantly from $2 billion in 2024 to $3.2 billion in 2026. The company also faces significant capital expenditures, which are necessary to maintain and grow its fleet of ships. Management expects this outflow to total a whopping $4.1 billion in 2024 alone. When you combine that with the expected debt principal payments and interest expense, it's hard to see Carnival having much left over for investors. In a sense, Carnival's adjusted EBITDA gives a misleading impression of the company's real financial situation and ability to generate shareholder value after meeting its other obligations."
  24. I think you will find out you are incorrect about maritime law. If it happened on land in San Francisco then US law would apply but because it happened on a ship, whether it is docked or not, Maritime and Admiralty law will apply. This will not be addressed in a small claims court no matter how wishful the thinking. Probably time to consult a lawyer and get legal advice and not opinions on CC. If Princess had to pay for every time there was a cracked crown, lost tooth, damaged dental bridge or some other dental issue on their ships you could bet there would be a lot of people hitting them up for new dental work.
  25. Cruise lines are rarely successfully sued because of all the steps a litigant has to go through to achieive a successful outcome. The majority of personal injury claims against major cruise lines are matters of maritime law. Maritime law consists of a variety of federal laws and regulations that govern the operation of vessels on open waters. If you are injured on a cruise ship on the open water, your claim must be filed in federal court. Moreover, cruise lines are entitled to select which court has jurisdiction in claims brought by passengers. There will probably be travel required to wherever the case is filed. Meeting with a maritime law lawyer in that area. A deposition. Examination by the cruise lines' dental specialists. It will be a timely process (over a year) with probably a settlement not going in favor of the the plaintiff because if could be said that they were the ones who damaged their tooth not Princess. Good luck but it is probably better to just pay for it and write it off on taxes if you can.
