  1. We had our own car there. Even on a rainy day the drive was spectacular
  2. Did you not know and agree to the fare before you took the ride?
  3. To confirm the above: New York City Statue Tickets & Tour Experiences | City Experiences is the official seller of tickets for the SoL. The SoL website listed above does link to here, but it's a couple of steps to get to there
  4. HOHO buses are HOT as HECK in summer in NYC, and wet when it rains. If you get off it can take a very long time to Hop back on as they are still popular and full. They are also slow due to traffic. If the weather is reasonable, doing one loop on them to "get your bearings" isn't a bad use of the HOHO, but not for anything else. TKTS is a good way to get theater tickets. Have a list ahead of time of what you are interested in. They have large boards listing the available shows so when you hit the window know what 2 or 3 shows you are interested in. Feel free to ask them about seating choices, but not "will I like ______?" I can't tell from your list if those are the HOHO stops or just places you are interested in? Taxis are just as slow as the HOHO but costly. Subway is an easy way to get around. Cabs and Ubers do have GPS and can find the cruise terminal. Tell them "Brooklyn Cruise Ship Terminal at _______ address" and they will get you to there
  5. The only variables in the JFK fare are the surcharges, but you know before you get in what the fare will be. You don't have that knowledge from LGA
  6. Cabs from LGA ARE NOT PRICE FIXED like they are from JFK. You are on the Meter. If you want to call that "regulated" then technically it is, but traffic and detours or a shifty cabby could make the price grow dramatically. From JFK the price is FIXED. So at Rush Hour your fare from LGA might surprise you, although it is unlikely to be higher than a fare from JFK, which is fixed at $70 + tolls and fees, so works out to about $100 with tip.
  7. The boats go to the same area to see the whales, I think it is a shorter cruise from Husavik than from Akureyri.
  8. When we lived in Boston we went to NYC 5-7 times/year and we always took that route.
  9. NCL would have the info. But they may not know this far out what the exact schedule will be. They usually open the lot well before boarding time, but I'm not sure about morning for an 11PM departure. You could always park elsewhere, sightsee, then come back and park at the pier
  10. Silver Line is an easy solution. Take it to South Station, go up the stairs for a free transfer to the Red Line to Park Street Station.
  11. Have you asked your travel agent or the cruiseline? Your cruise papers should have this information
  12. Dial 7 and Carmel are the most recommended car services. When a hotel sets up a ride, they usually add surcharges and fees, especially if using a broker instead of booking direct. Cabs are fine, so are uber/lyft
  13. Here is the website and map of the most popular trolley company #1 Boston Tourist Map | Free Interactive & Printable Boston Map (trolleytours.com) Looks like they stop at the terminal in certain times
  14. I'd book something in Bar Harbor in advance as there aren't a ton of options locally and they might be sold out
  15. Also let us know the ports and ships. Some are easier for chairs than others. Tenders can be an issue, too.
  16. Taxi runs about $125. Makes sense for four passengers, convenience might make it make sense for three, but bus would be cheaper
  17. I certainly never said that. But any place a tourist would likely want to visit shouldn't be feared and shouldn't be warned against.
  18. We just moved from Boston. We were in Manhattan 6-8 times per year, and averaged 25K steps/day, all over Manhattan, plus Queens and Brooklyn. The blanket "Not Safe" cries are what bugs me. When good people are afraid to walk the streets only bad people will walk the streets. Don't be part of the problem telling good people not to walk the streets
  19. The “I” symbol may mean Information about current or planned service interruptions or slowdowns. Click on them to read the info.
  20. I like the odds. And I have never felt unsafe doing this. Nor have others here who have actually done this. I don’t understand the “ NYC IS UNSAFE” and “why take a chance” chants from folks who haven’t actually had their feet in the ground recently. Fear-mongering makes us all weak, and can empty the streets of folks who are just enjoying themselves, leaving them open to those who might see more opportunity to commit crimes do to the lack of eyes around them. There is no upside to these “warnings”
  21. I am seeing 3900 ISK/person on the re.is site. That works out to about $28/person.
  22. It’s not luck. It’s statistics. NYC is safe. I had some comments deleted as well, I think. But the negative ones stayed up. Weird.
  23. I have walked this route and along the river more than once since Covid. Have you?
  24. Sorry to hear that. It really is much safer in NYC than one reads or sees on certain media. There are Big City Crime Stats out there that make this clear.
