  1. Definitely too early to see rates! At best you will see Rack Rates a year out. Wait until June 1st to expect to see anything realistic
  2. Porter Air flights from Billy Bishop to EWR are very convenient and easy to get to and from the airports to your destinations.
  3. Taxis in Iceland are expensive to start, so even short rides aren't cheap. I don't know current fares but the Taxi Fare Finder site worked well for us when we last used it for Reykjavik a few years ago.
  4. When I go to google maps and put in Reykjavik Skarfabakki Harbour and click the Nearby Button and enter "Car rentals" I get quite a few options within a mile or two. Be very careful renting cars in Iceland as there are some very bad providers and even with a good company you will need to thoroughly document the condition of the car when you pick it up to avoid any surprise damage charges. Tons of info about car rentals on the Iceland forums at TripAdvisor
  5. Most do not. We've had everything from "if you enjoyed your tour there is a bucket by the exit you can leave a little something for your guide in" to "there is no need for that". There are Free tours that are tip supported (mostly walking tours in the city) and we generally still tipped guides, but maybe half as much as in the states, and tips were very gratefully received.
  6. If the Sox are doing well a Saturday game in August could get sold out. I'd keep an eye on the standings and if the Red Sox are a few games over .500 or better, I'd buy in advance.
  7. Lots of threads here confirming the "never run out of spaces" reply. No need to worry
  8. REALLY easy. And don't use Viator or any third party unless you have no alternative. Adding an extra layer in rarely saves money and definitely causes communication issues if there are delays or cancellations
  9. We walked up to to a boat in the harbor and signed up for a Puffin Boat tour about 7-8 years ago. It was fun, but you don't get too close as the ones in the water swim away from the boat (and you can't see their bright red feet), and the boat can't get that close to the ones on shore. Better than NOT seeing Puffins, but if there's any way to do a land tour I think it's so much better. We've seen them close up near Vik and up in the Westfjords
  10. I haven't heard of them. Have you checked TripAdvisor? Lots of companies mentioned on the Iceland board there and reviews of pretty much all companies are there, too
  11. How are their services going to be any quicker? They use the same tunnels a taxi or uber or private vehicle would take. There are weekend closures of the Sumner Tunnel that goes from the airport to Downtown. There are no closures of the Ted Williams Tunnel that goes from the airport to the area nearer to the Cruise Terminal, but that tunnel is taking on the extra traffic from the Sumner. There are no weekday closures or issues beyond normal Boston traffic
  12. I've never had a provider give a quote like that in 5 visits to Iceland, but that price sounds much more Iceland-like than $35 would be.
  13. The cab ride can be up to 30 minutes, depending on traffic. There are summer tunnel closures on weekends that are slowing times a bit.
  14. Same here. Oh, wait. Long Beach is now my answer. I guess I'm going to Vancouver instead of Nova Scotia now.
  15. Playbill.com and Theatermania.com have safe advance discount links on their website. Seats aren't quite as good as you can get at TKTS but much easier than standing in line.
  16. You might want to post on TripAdvisor as they have a much busier Iceland forum there than cruise critic has
  17. This math doesn't work. 5000 ISK is around $37. 50,000 ISK would be around $370 using current conversion rates. And they use . instead of , so it would look like 50.000 ISK for Fifty Thousand Icelandic Krona
  18. Just make sure you DON'T go to the Reykjavik city airport! Keflavik is a 45 minute ride out of the city, to the SW of Reykjavik. It is small but very well organized. Check in lines can take 90 minutes or more at busy time periods so don't let the size or good organization make you think you can show up 2 hours ahead of your flight and board with ease!
  19. There is a Luggage Room on the edge of the parking lot that will hold your bags. $5 (or the ISK equivalent) was the price per bag a few years ago, not sure if it's changed Blue Lagoon has transport options from city to BL to airport and vice versa. Or city to BL to city. Whatever you want, right on their website
  20. If you don't trust the Mapquest info, double check on google maps, which is the Gold Standard for mapping in the US.
  21. I jump back to your opening statement: Why did you pick Ocean Endeavour and why is that no longer the answer to your question? Or one of their sister ships?
  22. Luggage Lockers at BSI bus terminal are regularly recommended on TripAdvisor. Otherwise, I agree with the thought of contacting a hotel to see if they will store for you for a fee
  23. Also cows. Lots of cows. Some dogs. We saw a walrus once on Diamond Beach.. Tons of birds, too.
  24. Also on our list, but as you suggested, much less feasible considering the invasion
  25. I think I posted a thread a year or so ago looking for the "quickest" east coast US/Canada to Alaska/Vancouver/Seattle itinerary going over the top, as I can see taking a 28 day vacation, but not anything longer as we just can't spend that much time away from home/work/family. I think I'm going to have to wait for faster boats, or a slower lifestyle to be able to do this route.
