  1. My understanding was it had more to do with alcohol tax than consumption. I can't recall a source, just some recollection that Royal Caribbean, or other lines that allow drinks in Galveston, pay a certain amount of tax to allow this on a limited menu, while Carnival does not choose to pay that tax, and just waits until day 2. Again, just chatter, but it made sense.
  2. I usually just use them to "Pay With Points" which is just a statement credit. It has to be a travel related purchase though. If the charge is over $1500, it's 1.5x redemption, so a better value. I think also 1.5x if you save to 100k points, but not sure on that one.
  3. It is in fact "you can't purchase a fishbowl if you have Cheers"...Again not to say it doesn't happen, but that's the policy.
  4. How did you redeem the points? Did you do it on the website under Onboard Gifts? If so, then yes, agreed with dbrucern above, I believe it is done as Cruise Cash, which doesn't show with the OBC, it's on the main page of Booking and Order Details - under Activities & Services Order History. You have to put in your booking info, so I think it is applied automatically, but sometimes it can take some time for the redemption to process. The only thing I see available on the Rewards page right now is Bar Cruise Cash (or photo), which has to be used at a bar, so I'd check to see, if that isn't what you wanted.
  5. Well that would be the issue. According to policy, you can't purchase a fishbowl if you have Cheers. That's not to say it doesn't happen, but that is what Carnival says. So, Cheers is a valid player in the game, because if Cheers doesn't apply on the first day, can someone still purchase a fishbowl.
  6. This is the same type of offer, just $50. If you've done those with no complaints, why would this be different?
  7. Maybe I just got lucky this go-around, but everything works fine on my browser. All bookings are there, all Deals are there, search works fine. For a few days, I had the double price on search screen, but that's resolved too. Again to mention, it might help to clear your cookies and cache.
  8. I could probably attribute my awareness of it to Cruise Critic. That doesn't change the fact that prior to wasting countless hours on an internet forum, I wasn't bothered by people who let the door slam. I don't think people are out there tallying the number of people they can anger by dropping a door, I just think they don't realize other people are bothered.
  9. I'm sure there could be a whole debate about this, but most likely people just don't think it's an issue. I can say I've heard doors slam, and I can also say I've never given a thought about it. I'm only conscious of it now because other people seem to be bothered by it, and, since I do like to be considerate, I try to be aware of it and not do it. But I can't say I've ever been bothered by another door slamming. I'd like to think I'm neither deaf, nor a dolt. If you aren't aware it could potentially bother someone, then you aren't aware.
  10. As someone who is married to a vegetarian, I say this with love...Beyond "meat" smells like straight dog food before it is cooked lol. Tastes pretty good though.
  11. Mmm, maybe between 10-10:30a. We got married on the Glory in February, so had priority boarding. We arrived at the port at around 9:30a, then waited in a little room for awhile until the ship was cleared. We were the first to "board."
  12. Or, just click here: https://www.carnival.com/in-room-food-beverages/liquor ...
  13. It can be hard to find sometimes, I usually just Google it and the page should come up. I was able to add a bottle to my cart just now, so I don't think there is a glitch.
  14. I say this with respect and joking aside, let's not forget the Costa Concordia.
  15. Who says he is sleeping at night? He could be snoozing on a chair during the day, like plenty of people do, and go no one would bat an eye. Hang out somewhere different every night, and I think he could go unnoticed pretty easily. This isn't to say I think he is hiding out on the ship though. Lol. I think it's the more obvious answer. But we're all making a lot of assumptions about how we would think to hide out on a ship. There are a lot more possibilities.
  16. I have a short cruising history, and while I love Carnival, and probably have more fun on Carnival, I don't feel loyal to any line. I'm loyal to price! 🤣
  17. Yes, but it's done a bit differently. If you go through the booking, select the room category, there will be different options under the category, and if available, one will say "Room Will Be Assigned Assigned." With that said, sometimes it will depend on the offer code being used and what inventory is available under that offer code. We actually just booked the Sunshine out of Norfolk for March 2025! Pretty sure there were options booking unassigned rooms. And also with all that said, I can usually see guaranteed cabins on RCI when booking on the website without having to call, if available. They seem to change inventory and options available practically everyday lol.
  18. I just called today to review some of my offers with the new rate codes. If the rate code includes your booked sailing as an available option, they should be able to change the rate code. If the sailing is not available for that rate code, it's not able to be changed. I had one I could and one I couldn't. I called 866-299-5859.
  19. I just called to have a new rate code applied to our November 2024 sailing, they did it easy peasy. The rate code wasn't available for our February sailing, so they couldn't change that one. But if you do a mock book, and the rate code has that sail date and ship available, you should be able to have the new code applied. If it doesn't show up, it won't hurt to call, as it may just be sold out but they can still update the rate code. That was the case for the November sailing.
  20. We were booked on a 9/15/2023 sailing from Port Canaveral to Bermuda, we had to cancel due to a work conflict. That might be one that gets cancelled (or at least changed), so it may have been a blessing in disguise!
  21. In my experience, you will only receive the Fun Match offer once, I would recommend booking that. You may have to book an interior, it will at least get you on the ship. If you play a bit in the casino, you'll most likely get more and possibly better offers after, although not guaranteed. Calling probably will not get more choices, but I don't think it hurts to try, but call with the expectation you'll probably end up with the same room availability you can see.
  22. We played a lot on our last cruise in June. Our offers were never that great lol, so any improvement is nice. Some people already get great offers, so maybe those stayed the same.
  23. FINALLY got some new offers out today, with a few nice improvements! Sounds like that seem to be the case for others too. So maybe we aren't doomed haha. How about everyone else? Still says for sailing only through December 2024, but some available options in 2025.
