  1. That standard room service menu is going to get kinda old after about day 2 of a 5 day quarantine.
  2. I agree with this. We encountered the same thing on the same route on the same ship (Ruby Princess) pre and post COVID. Something has changed. Couple that with the fact that we are now paying for WiFi, it’s disingenuous for the president of Princess to claim they offer high speed WiFi on their ships anytime, anywhere. It’s simply no longer true.
  3. That’s your problem then. No, as far as I know, Princess has remained firm on those expiration dates. I’m sure they want them turned into more revenue producing opportunities through on board spending sooner rather than later. They probably also want them off their balance sheet. Nah, I’m on here every day for at least a few minutes. My time is not that valuable. 😉 I feel badly for the TAs who are expected to spend hours chasing these things for no additional income when, on this, at least, Princess has communicated the terms very well.
  4. Well thank God. Eliminating the testing eliminates the virus, right? Wouldn’t want to have to wonder if the person in the next coach seat on a 12 hour flight has COVID.
  5. Kitty, enjoy those twins and other grand babies! I love getting the updates from you about them. “Mine” are heading off to college this summer…I’ve updated in my blog. The years are too short!
  6. Our experience with Princess is that they immediately apply any FCCs in your Captains Circle account to the very next cruise you book, whether you want them to or not, so I suspect there is an issue with the FCCs. Do you have a log in for your Captains Circle account online? If not, I suggest you set one up and you will see all of your FCCs in there, which is what you generally get when a cruise is cancelled. If there are no FCCs, your issue is not that they won’t apply it to the cruise, but that there is nothing to apply.
  7. Just exercise caution with all those meds. You have some serious duplication of coverage there.
  8. @nunuc2000Ketchikan always reminds me of my dad too. Definitely a salmon thing. Thank God for lasting memories.
  9. I agree, though I would add that mask mandates on all ships would be a welcome thing to go back to, also. But here’s the thing: the time to make corrections is not limitless, and, to date, Princess shows little inclination to do so. I maintain that every poor cruise experience is more confidence lost, and confidence lost is going to be extremely difficult to regain. Many guests are still using their expiring FCCs; how many people will be lined up to pay in full with cash if the reported experiences do not soon reliably, consistently change?
  10. Something happened. We were on the Ruby Princess to Sydney in September 2019. WiFi speed was amazing, I posted speed checks in my blog. DH got on the ship on the same itinerary (to Hawaii at least) in February 10, 2022 and it was still great (he sent me one speed check, 47mbps download speed, I think). But within a week or so, it deteriorated dramatically. He never again got any speed even close to that until he got off the ship in late April. I believe that the provider did change.
  11. At some point it should all even out. Crew members are not returning because they’re not happy, guests are not returning because they’re not happy… How is Princess (and other cruise lines) going to reverse this trend?
  12. The military OBC is not translated to AUD. So whatever the amount in USD, it’s the same amount in AUD. There was another one like that too, but I don’t recall which one it was. We call it the Australian cruise penalty…but it didn’t stop us from cruising Down Under four times. 😉
  13. We have bought and sold several times to take advantage of capital losses or gains for tax purposes and to lock in the OBC for as many as ten plus cruises at a time.
  14. @ROWSELIves the pics of the long boats on the aquaduct. How cool is that?!?
  15. Exactly. We tolerated that for about an hour one night before we were digging out the duct tape we always pack. I was cruising on the Ruby Princess for several months when that whole system was installed. I remember going back to the guys who were installing it and telling them that, if we had to have that sensor in the hall, they had to come back and make an adjustment to allow our light stay on longer. I was always in the middle of doing something in the safe when the light would go out and I’d have to do a little dance to get it going again. So if you’re in R741 on the Ruby Princess and your hall light stays on longer than the average cabin, you can blame (or thank) me. 😆
  16. Well give your TA a gold star, because you are the one and only person I’ve ever heard of that cancelled after final payment and got a full refund simply because of a change in mask mandates. I’m sure many others on here will be most interested in exactly how that happened. ETA: but I totally agree with you about FCCs. Not interested, not interested, not interested.
  17. You had four cruises booked, changed your mind because of mask mandates and got cash refunds? Not non-refundable FCCs…those aren’t cash refunds. They’re simply holding on to your money with those. No, you implied cash refunds. Was this after final payment? I mean, most cruises are refundable before final payment. But I’m talking about when mandates change two weeks before you leave, and you don’t want FCCs. Even with insurance, they’ve got your money.
  18. Tracie, I hope Jon is feeling better and you test negative this morning. Just to let you know that someone on another thread reported that Princess is not allowing them to rent a car and drive home from Seattle. Don’t know how that can even happen, and we know how inconsistent the rules are among the different ships, but wanted to give you a heads up. Hang in there.
  19. You can definitely get your money returned. Took us about 5 months form the first call to Princess to the credit appearing on our card. And lots of phone calls and emails to customerrelations@princesscruises.com. All anyone on chat or at the Princess call center can do is send an email to the Finance Department.
  20. Oh no. Welcome to the club that no one wants to join. And it’s not inevitable that you’ll test positive eventually. Just probable.
  21. Yes, provided you have paid your Medicare Part B premiums. I seemed to recall that coverage was limited to 150 days, but don’t see anything about that in current information. You will have to pay all expenses and then submit a Tricare Overseas Claim when you return home. https://www.tricare.mil/Plans/HealthPlans/TFL/TFL_O We always buy travel insurance plus medical evacuation insurance on top of that.
  22. Yes! During the Iraq War, I had the one and only bumper sticker of my life on my vehicle: Oppose the war, but support the warrior. They don’t get to choose their battles. If you don’t like how the US has engaged with other countries, your beef is with elected politicians, not the boots on the ground.
  23. Well, as long you as don’t show up on a cruise in better shape than me because of all those races you’ve won…because that wouldn’t be egalitarian at all. And it might make me that you had achieved something I hadn’t. Just like those nasty Elite medallions. No, that wouldn’t be good at all.
  24. You can definitely get the mini medals with magnets. No, strike that. You might be able to get them with magnets. DH has the mini ribbons strip with magnets, not the mini medals, so that might make a difference. And the magnets are STRONG. They will stick to things that you might not want them to.
