The app is bugged out right now is the issue. If you are logged in and viewing your current cruise... don't log out or you won't get back in. You can't switch to other cruises either. I tried multiple phones. It bugged out on check in day when everyone was trying to select boarding time. I was able to do myself online at midnight via the website. It seems to have applied my boarding time to everyone in my linked party as I typed in bogus info on another person and it came up and said "your party has a boarding time of 11am, if you want to switch, click here". So I think we are OK. I will just have everyone else do their own entry of passport data and picture.... I was just in charge of getting a boarding time at midnight.

I can't log into the app still. "Sorry we hit a snag" I dug out and old android phone and tried on that, same thing. Still doesnt work. I was trying to at least get a boarding time for everyone in our party.

I have three booking linked. I just wanted to select a boarding time for everyone at midnight last night but the app is broken right now. Online you have to type in passport info to get to the boarding time selection. So I just checked myself in first and selected a boarding time. When I went to check in my parents, the boarding screen page said that my party had already been assigned a boarding time and it applied to everyone.

I went on Icon as a Solo adult and thought it was fine and comparble number of kids to Oasis class. I actually think they did a damn good job of wrangling most of the kids in the surf side area. By putting the splash bad in surfside helps the pool deck have less ankle biters. That area was PACKED with kids, I liked the lemon post drinks though so I would venture in there.

I got "express boarding" on a miami cruise. They said people where selected that are passport holders, a good picture and had all their information entered in the app. So it may be worth it trying to get a good picture. I used the same passport photo for three cruises in a row. Oasis and Odyssey accepted it and symphony check in person retook a new picture with their tablet. The last two I just take a selfie against a light colored wall in a well lit room through the app and they accepted that picture.

No go on the access to the extra balcony space. It's a crew only area. The last regular balcony has a normal divider. The door on my balcony to that area is probably only five feet. I'm surprised they don't sell one of these staterooms as an extra large balcony. I'm liking this ship so far. More complimentary food than oasis, some open late. Lots of staff and bars. Better version of the promenade. The flow of the ship is kind of odd in a few places like access to Surfside.

You are right next to the locked hallway. A bit of a hike to get back here, but I am really liking the aft facing balcony.

I was peaking around that corner. I thought it was for a suite or something. There is a non standard divider, but it has a door that could be opened.

Deck 14. I think port and starboard have a similar setup. Below me looks like a big suite, so I don't think they have that hallway, but I can check later on. Speaking of signage. There is an error on the stateroom safe overlay. They reversed the text for enter and cancel... whoops. When you push cancel, it is enter.

My aft balcony stateroom is interesting. I have to unlock two doors to get into it. Me and one other stateroom has a locked private hallway. The balcony is quite large for this to be considered a normal balcony room. Geometry is kind of weird.

they where actively enforcing the only smoking while gambling on regal. It does seem to vary by ship. One time a game I like to play was only on the smoking side by a door. People would roll in there and chain smoke a few without playing. That was kind of annoying and seemed to make the air quality way worse.

Ahh OK. I did not think about a VPN app on the firestick itself. I will try that next time starlink gives me a Mexico ip that YouTube TV doesn't like. Thanks!

Can you do VPN from wireless hotspot on a windows 11 laptop? Basically the firestick is connected to the laptop hotspot, but how do I get it on the VPN? It seems like wireless hotspot is on hardware level of the network adapter. I guess I can test at home before next cruise.

I never tried unplugging the network cable. I do that on the next cruise (icon, woo) . It wasn't a big issue to switch to hdmi via the TV button. Just kind of a hassle. The 4k firestick worked fine all week on odyssey. The USB port on the TV provided enough power. I did a mobile hotspot from a laptop. Starlink had an ip address from the USA the entire week so YouTube TV worked. On a cruise with princess star link switched to a Mexico ip address for about half the time and YouTube TV wouldn't work.

I donated like $400 to the princess casino and a week later they where offering me almost free cruises. The regal repositioning cruise was 12 days for like $100 or something. I am trying to get Royal to send me offers like that =D

I brought a GE universal remote on Odyssey. It does everything except switch inputs! Does anyone know a universal remote code for Royal where the input button works? I used this same remote successfully on Princess. I can get still switch to HDMI, I just have to fuss with button under the TV every time I turn it on.

I MTD at 7 or 730 and have no issues seeing all the shows on Oasis class, same on Odyssey. One night the water show started at like 10pm, giving you plenty of time. You should nave no issues making the 9 or 930 shows. I am usually done at eating in an hour. Something tells me your Abba show will be on at 8 and 10 and a recent review on cruise critic seems to agree with that. They normally shows at least two times in one day and the water and ice show on many different days. Also you can tell your waiter you are in a hurry. They will accommodate for you and bring food fast. You should be fine, no worries!

Galveston Express is $35 IAH to Galveston. Says that they go to hotels too.

Newish cruiser... Here is my story. My parents took me on a few cruises when I was young. They where fine and everything. Never really put much thought into going on one as a younger adult. Was more into music festivals and crap like that. As adult nearing 40 I did one with my parents early in 2023. Had a great time. I am so damn busy all the time it is nice to have everything taken care for you. no cleaning, cooking, etc.. loved it. So I booked a solo cruise on Oasis. Had such a great time. Now I'm cruisin pretty much once a month through 2024 and probably 2025. My business has gotten to the point it can run itself while I am gone for a week a month. I busted my ass the last ten years with little to no vacations to get to this point. So yeah, its expensive now, but so is everything else. It can be easy $200 a night just to sleep at a hotel and that doesn't even cover food. I still see a lot of value in cruising and you can find deals. Not that long ago I got a studio balcony for a 7d 2024 alaska cruise for $1200. I am not seeing deals like that for 2025 though, in fact the studio balcony rooms are more than the normal balcony ones solo. Hunt around. Keep track of things in a notebook if you are looking for deals. Here is a deal for you... Look at some of the winter cruises out of NJ. Yeah, you are not going to be using the pool deck on the first and last day, but its value for an oasis class. Same goes with being willing to cruise out of Galveston. Limited Itinerary, but I love oasis class, so Harmony should be fine.

Dang, Odyssey missed seeing icon by one day. That would have been cool to be in coco cay with icon. Looking forward to cruising Icon! I am going to let them work out the issues on the maiden voyage.

I've done both recently. I think I prefer the symphony class ship design, but odyssey is very nice ship too. Symphony feels less crowded at capacity, but odyssey buffet is better. The water shows are really cool too.

maybe in vegas. every video poker machine on a cruise ship is set to the worst payout table i have seen, so I don't play them. The slots are probably set just as bad, but at least they are not in your face about how bad they are. I see very few people playing video poker on ships anymore and the number of machines seems to be dwindling. Seemed to be very few on Symphony and they where all older models. I was surprised to see Princess rolling in banks of new video poker machines instead of slots, so its not going away.

Sorentos isnt premade. I watched them stretching dough. I found sorentos on symphony and oasis to be better than carnival and princess pizza. I mean what do you expect making pizza for thousands of people. Way better than pretty much any chain pizza. Id give it a solid 7.
