@Bobby Winds As you have prepaid for a Dining Souvenir Photograph I suggest that you go to the Photo area when you board and discuss it with them.

@hallux True but as we are away from New Zealand for 4-10 weeks at a time it is a necessary 1 minute!!

I do not do any financial transactions while on board. I only check balances to see that they have not been hacked. I di have a problem on one cruise as I found that my credit card had ben compromised AFTER we had left NZ. The officers on board were excellent in allowing me to spend over 2 hours on the phone from the ship to NZ.

You had better check that the return flight on Delta's "Basic Economy" includes free luggage!! Often "Basic Economy" is seat only or seat with hand luggage

NCL serves our purpose really well. Ships; Officers & crew, Dining; Cabin all great.

@cdoobiest I would agree with @tscoffey With it being 11 people all it needs is for one person "to get out of line" and you are in trouble.

A brown paper bag is always useful if you have a crew member who you feel should enjoy your gift.

I keep a spreadsheet of prices so I know when there has been a price drop that I can take advantage of. During August the price of two cruises we are doing was all over the place. Firstly they removed the USD100 OBC; then put it back and soon removed it again. In 8 days there were 5 price changes. Late in August and Early in September when this "sale" occurred there was a drop of about NZD500 on each cruise and then a further NZD150 before the NZD150 was removed one day later. I did manage to get the price drop on each when it was a minimum price!!

Having been in Moderno 5 years ago spoilt me. Since then we have found a large drop in standards and no longer even consider it.

@grouchomarx Where is the changeover day? People may then be able to give you more idea of what to expect. in general what @KeithJenner wrote is a good starting point.

Plenty of all types of meat in all restaurants and the buffet, and plenty of choice too. Plenty for us to enjoy so I'm sure you will find plenty too. Not so much fish but still some, my wife takes fish most days when it is on the MDR menu,

We have found that not only the restaurant makes a difference but so does the actual person who stands over the makings. This has been very noticeable with mushroom soup too.

Remember that the smallest € note is €5 so you would have to tip in coin smaller than that and they are not changeable to USD.

@trivia addict We had to do that in Incheon this year and it was a bit of a pain getting it through the scanner; other than that no problem.

Were you using the Credit Card that you used to book the cruise? If not, that might be the problem.

@PammyMouse In Australia (and New Zealand) NCL charges all "Bev Srv Charge", "Din Srv Charge" and the DSC in the Cruise Fare. Could be that that is going to migrate to all NCL offices.

@cruiser1961 Having done TAs our observation would be that the ship will have to a "nil count". Everyone MUST be off the ship and Immigration will have to clear it before anyone will be let on. You could be lucky and do it very quickly (20 minutes) if you want to "stay on". On the other hand it could be 3-4 hours. The former case was when there were only 6 B2Bs and we were held on board till Immigration actual cleared the ship before being "done" The latter has happened more than once!!! I suggest that you arrange a trip. When you get back to the ship wear your "In Transit" sticker and make sure you don't get in the check-in line but go straight to the customs check. Often my wife takes a book to wait to get back on and I walk to a local bank to get myself US quarters!! I have been known to get on before she has!!

If you put March/April 2026 in the NCL website, those are the usual months to have a ship in Japan for the Sakura, there is only 1 ship "available, the Sun. I am willing to bet that that is going to be in Japan then.
