  1. I cruised on the River Queen last July, Frankfurt to Strasbourg on the Rhine and Moselle rivers. The Moselle river is incredibly beautiful, scenic and unforgettable. Uniworld service and food excellent. Highly recommend!
  2. Whatever is served at the bar without an upcharge. Meaning, some top shelf expensive drinks are an extra charge even if you have the drinks package. Anything else would be eligible for the 2-for-1 HH. For a few pennies more than $13, I can get a double vodka cranberry during happy hour.
  3. Based on my first cruise on Regent Mariner last November on Mariner, this is not yet a big problem for Regent. Yes, definitely a problem for the main stream cruiselines.
  4. We live in San Marcos, although my husband is from Massachusetts and I lived most of my life o/s of Texas. I was born in Corpus Christi so I have always “identified” as a Texan. 🙂
  5. Me too - I miss the formal nights. Cruising is just about my only opportunity to have “a reason” to glam-it-up! 😁
  6. Hmmm. I enjoy “dress up” and am on a 17-day South American cruise. Already have to pack A TON of clothes for the range of weather possibilities in that region. My question: are pax more casual given the itinerary or perhaps it makes no difference? I will almost certainly use this as “an excuse” to get some use out of clothes I otherwise would never have a reason to wear. We are very casual around here…
  7. It depends on the itinerary and local immigration controls.
  8. However, if they are truly trying to attract a younger demographic, a faulty and shoddily designed website will not do the trick.
  9. Thank you to the last two posters, who are helping me to keep my dream alive. While I do not aspire to going on a six month or longer cruise, doing a segment of multiple weeks is hopefully an attainable dream.
  10. I had the same problem the other day. Very irritating. Instead of trying another browser or clearing my cookies I just dropped that idea and did something else.
  11. With this information, now the speculation that perhaps O and Regent might be merged someday seems more plausible. Just a WAG…..
  12. But they don’t have to sell out every state room to the around the world cruisers. Don’t they also sell many segments and Grand Voyages on the ATW ship?
  13. Well, thinking about it a bit, I guess it would be the same process they use when buying a bottle on board. They keep track of it in their records probably.
  14. Interesting. How does the sommelier/wine steward distinguish bn bottles provided by a TA versus brought on board? Thx!
  15. I think they should have somehow bundled gratuities into the new pricing structure.
  16. Agree. My next vacation is a land tour of Scotland with a three day post extension in London. Less than five weeks to go.
  17. Your post made me think. Hmmm, next year I have an O cruise Oslo to London - mostly Nordic ports. I quickly made a call to switch my OLife choice to the beverage package. That is not generally my modus operandi, but I believe it makes sense in this case.
  18. BYOB! And pay a $25 corkage fee to drink the wine at any restaurant, or consume it free in your stateroom. Then, there are 2 opportunities to purchase “2 for 1” drinks during happy hour. My double vodka cranberry costs about $13 during HH. This is why I love O, we’ll have to see what happens going forward…… PS, the included wines on offer within the package are not the “premium” wines their marketing folks rave about. JMO.
  19. Train track in Italian is “binario”. That should come in handy at the train station. 😜
  20. Yes, the printed limit is six bottles. Several have posted here that they have brought on a case or two at embarkation. I have never read where anyone was not able to bring however many bottles on board. But we always caution cruisers to stay within guidelines by not consuming the wine outside of their state room, unless they are paying the corkage fee at a restaurant.
  21. One of the aspects that I love about Oceania is that there is no (effective) limit to the amount of wine that you can bring on board, both at embarkation, and at ports of call. I usually don’t bring bottles of spirits, but I understand that is also possible. So, You can select wine of your choice and price range at a local liquor store, transport your wine to the ship as you embark. Then at no cost, you can drink the wine in your state room or for a $25 corkage fee you can enjoy your wine in a restaurant during meal time. If you don’t finish the bottle, they will store the wine for your use at a future meal.
  22. Yes, good point. Although I booked the two penthouse cruises a long time ago, even when cruising was still shut down. Prices were fabulous so I grabbed the penthouse. Going forward, no more penthouses for this girl. 😩 Prices are starting to climb.
  23. Thanks for sharing your experience. While it might not have been an optimal arrangement, hopefully you got a great deal on the cruise fare.
