  1. I am jealous of all those beautiful gardens. It seems we just buy things to kill off each year. Sometimes we get some help from the deer. It seems they love hosta. By this time of year, this is what they look like. I keep telling Susan we should take this advice.
  2. It is very rare that we would see 100°+ temperatures here. The last time was 1988, and only two dozen times since 1870. We are looking at lows in the 60’s and highs in the 80’s this week. We did have a couple showers yesterday, so I spent my day draining, cleaning, and refilling our hot tub. Glad I have it under the gazebo so it made it easier to work on. Plans for a hike this morning.
  3. Don’t know if you are an apple user, but their iMovie is easy to use. You can easily do transitions, add video clips or stills, overlay a voice or audio track, and so much more. The thing with music, is YouTube will often flag some videos if they have certain music tracks. I posted a “Rock Britannia” street party video a few years ago from our sailing on Indy from Southampton. YouTube flagged it as a possible DRM violation and blocked it.
  4. Our daughter had stayed there before, and she recommended the place. That was pre-Covid. We did hear a lot of complaints from others staying there, so I imagine there will be other negative reviews.
  5. Susan filled one out. She gave them a one, and commented if a zero was an option, they would have received that.
  6. All the clothes were gone through meticulously, and luggage is in quarantine for a few days. For some reason, the desk at the Breakers didn’t want the one I took to them, wrapped in a Kleenex!
  7. So you might have noticed a change in scenery for my beach pictures. I don’t recall if I had mentioned, but we were at the Breakers Resort. I will start by saying, I would not stay there again. We had planned to be in one unit for the week, but ended up moving three times. We had rented a 3 bedroom, two bath unit that also had a kitchen, dining area, living room, and a washer and dryer. It was very dated and looked like it had not been cleaned in quite a while. The pools, hot tubs, and lazy River had a lot of sand in them. So the day after I cut my foot in the lazy river, we found a large cockroach in our unit. I went to the desk to complain, but they said they couldn’t have anyone there till the next day, and they couldn’t move us to a different unit until the next day. I told them I wanted a refund, so we could move elsewhere, because we were not going to stay in that unit. They then came up with a 4 bedroom that was completely gutted and redone last month, so everything was clean, and brand new. But they said we could only be there 2 nights, then they would move us back to one of the crappy rooms. We moved for the 2 nights, and told them we would take a refund and move to a different hotel for the remainder of our stay. So after packing and moving to the 4 bedroom for a couple days, we packed again and moved to Homewood Suites, down past the sky wheel. Much, much nicer accommodations, plus they were cleaning pools and water features daily. I didn’t see Breakers do this at all. For what they charge for a week, they could remodel a unit, and take care of basic maintenance. So a word to the wise, don’t ever book Breakers. We still had fun, but we’re bothered with having to deal with this. Now, we are back in PA, it is 70°, and we are soaking in our sand-free hot tub. It is almost time to go in for a movie, some popcorn, and a kraken colada for me and strawberry daiquiris for Susan and our grandson (leaded and unleaded)
  8. Our last couple days in Myrtle Beach, we just spent enjoying the beach, the pools and water slides. It seems like we had a brief shower almost every day. You would look one way, and it didn’t look bad. and look the other way, and see storm clouds and lightening The kids enjoyed their beach time, and helped create this little shark My grandson from California experienced his first water slide. From his smile, I think he liked it. This was made from 3 clips. Me filming going up the steps, one of the kids filming thru the tube, and the final landing. IMG_5212.MOV
  9. Make that 4 of us. Susan looks so young, some people ask if our grandson is her son. Then they see me and they probably just think I am her sugar daddy. 😂 Four and a half years between us.
  10. I am with you on those large popcorn buckets. We always get the large ones and a large drink, since those have free refills. When we take our grandson, we are probably getting 4 refills at the movies. +1
  11. Good luck with your decision. As for me, I would never want to go back to working. Once I retired, I often wondered how I had time to work, since my days have been filled.
  12. I am not sure how they figure your rank. I have 5,400, and it says I am at the 3,000+ rank with 701 points to go. By my math, it should be at 5,000+ Maybe they have the Royal team doing math for them. 🤣
  13. I wanted to try this place, only because it looks so unique. I have no takers. Grandkids shan’t Landshark tonight, so that’s where we are headed.
  14. We feel blessed we are able to do this with them. It won’t be long until they will not want to be with us, and they will prefer their friends. We are enjoying while it lasts. Then the spoiling is up to you, Lenny. Too bad they may not have known their other grandparents. We feel bad that our California grandson only gets to see his other grandparents on video calls for the last couple years. He was able to visit them in China in 2019. Susan and I were looking forward to a trip to China, because they have some amazing places. Plus, we would have our own, personal guides. Who knows how long that might be until we able to do that now. Some people may bash the Chinese, or other cultures, but when you come right down to it, everyone wants the best for their families. Not to sound political, but it is just the idiots, every country seems to have in charge, that cause the problems.
  15. I mentioned a cruise, but doubtful my PA grandkids would be allowed to go. Thinking of Alaska with our California grandson, sine we would be on the west coast when school is out. He needs to renew his passport.
  16. I wish I had grandparents like us when I was young, but times were much different then. We do tend to spoil them.
  17. The jet boat ride is pretty wild. I could give the kids a ride on the tube, behind our boat, better than that. They are not quite ready for that.
  18. We will make them a photo book of their summertime adventures again. Our grandson from California is asking where we are taking him next summer already. 🤣🤣
  19. It is 75° this morning, and 100% chance of rain (which I can confirm, because it is raining). Just waiting for the morning shower to pass. Yesterday, we spent the morning at the beach, then went to Broadway at the Beach for the afternoon. First stop, Margaritaville. The grandkids picked this spot!🤣🤣 Then it was off to the Aquarium. I kept looking for the bottle. I walked by, and this guy was selling insurance. The grandkids fed some stingrays. I never paid attention to how much their underside looks like a face. I wouldn’t want to meet up with this one. And we were treated to a rainbow, once we got back to the beach.
  20. Well, I am finally caught up after getting behind 5 or 6 pages yesterday. Glad to hear everyone is progressing well, and hoping everyone continues to do so. I won’t try to list all, because I know I would forget some.
  21. That sounds like some pretty good coverage. My mother was a State employee in Pennsylvania, and her retirement plan from them always had fantastic coverage.
  22. One of my daughter and SIL’s vehicles was damaged when part of a tree came through the windshield and dash. They had to get a rental while it was being repaired, and their insurance would only cover 45 days of rental. We let them use one of our vehicles when the repair took longer than that. No one anticipated the repair to take that long, but getting parts needed takes longer than usual now.
