  1. Now for a couple food pictures from near the end of our stay in Myrtle Beach. I am still amazed at how much food these kids can put away. Thursday, we made a return trip to the Wicked Tuna for a big lunch, then to the Sea Captain’s house for a nice big dinner. It was a nice place with a nice ocean view. So, if that wasn’t enough, we headed out to a place called the Mason Jar for desert. Honestly, the deserts were big enough to be a meal. Now, Susan and I just opted for hot fudge sundaes. But the kids….How about a milkshake topped with a piece of cheesecake? Or one topped with cake Who has the bigger one? Even one loaded with cookies will make your eyes bug out. all in take home mason jars
  2. So talking about what sites to use, or not use, when booking trips, add Southwest Vacations to one we will not use again. Susan had booked our Myrtle Beach trip with them, because we had a lot of Southwest gift cards, and she thought it would be easier to book the flights and hotel for the six of us, as a package. Problem #1, we kept getting an error trying to enter our SW gift card numbers. So a call to SW, and they say you can’t use SW gift cards, only SW Vacation gift cards (never heard of those) Problem #2, Then, as we are staying at a Hilton property, I find out they do not credit the night stays, nor the points, and they tack on a resort fee. I don’t think we actually saved anything over what it would have been to book them separately.
  3. Thanks @A&L_Ont @dani negreanu @DaniDanielle @jmh2006 @Sea Dog Mild so far, but who knows when she first got it on this trip. She had a fever last night, but thought it may have been from the Lyme disease, since she is still on meds from that.
  4. Well, we got back home, from our week at Myrtle Beach, last night. I will have to write a few updates on food, flights, and hotel, but things are busy at home today. Meanwhile, Susan brought home this souvenir. She is no longer a Covid virgin.
  5. @jagsfan Mimi, I hope you got checked out, and are on the road to recovery. Looking forward to you posting again.
  6. @DaniDanielle Marietta, it was good to hear they are getting things figured out with Charlie. I hope he is able to come home soon.
  7. @Sea Dog Greg, glad to see that Linda got through the surgery okay. Sorry for the late comments, but I am playing catch up today. She will learn to do a lot by using her left hand. It will take a while, but it will get better. When I fractured my right shoulder, I had to learn how to do everything with my left arm. I was just glad that none of my vehicles had a manual shift at that time. Still, to this day, I will use my left for certain tasks, and can easily switch between the two now.
  8. Susan was sick once while we were here. It was either too much sun, which doesn’t mix well with the medicine, or food poisoning. At least it was short lived. This is an off week for daughter’s oral chemo. It was a year ago, when we were here in July, that she felt something. Then she had her biopsy on our anniversary a couple weeks later. Some of those memories are coming back during this stay, but we are all having a good time.
  9. Yesterday was a packed day for us again. From finding more shark teeth to getting tattoos to the aquarium to drinks and tasty desert at Margaritaville to just bouncing around IMG_8088.mp4 They had two of the kids on opposite sides. The one in the background, doing flips, is my granddaughter.
  10. Last night, we tried something we have never done. We went to Medieval Times for our dinner and a show. Of course, the kids were excited about being able to eat with their hands. They did have an entertaining show And granddaughter caught a rose tossed by this Knight After watching jousting and sword fights, what is a good grandparent to do? Why, buy them all swords and let them have their own sword fights. Sometimes, you even have to use your brother when there isn’t a horse available They definitely had a great time, and the food was better than I expected.
  11. @Sea Dog Greg, I hope Linda has a good outcome, and that you get some relief for your knee until you have it replaced. I walked by this place yesterday, and thought of you. It looked interesting inside, but I doubt I will get to try it out with the grandkids along.
  12. Lunch today was at Wicked Tuna at the 2nd Avenue Pier. A tall Blue Moon and a Shrimp Po’Boy for me. Granddaughter is learning some of my bad habits. A Banana Pudding Cheesecake for her. Don’t remember what this sushi was, but my daughter says it was good.
  13. We are staying at the Homewood Suites Oceanfront. It is near the Skywheel. We moved to this one, mid-stay last year, after finding the Breakers to be dirty and unacceptable. Since the grandkids liked this place, we decided to return to it.
  14. We did a couple yesterday, but I didn’t get pictures because a rainstorm moved in as they were getting finished. It is nice that we have water slides, lazy river, pool, and hot tubs under cover, so the rain wasn’t a problem.
  15. She is doing better, but is on meds for the next couple weeks yet. Much more planned for the next few days, before we head home.
  16. A couple things I learned today. 1. I can no longer keep up in a race with these kids. 2. I can no longer put away as much food as they do. I do have a food picture from today’s lunch. Oh wait, that was a painkiller. This is the food. A shrimp boil. It was pretty good Meanwhile, my one grandson ate two crab leg dinners, and his sister had one. And this was just for lunch. What is a trip to MB without some mini golf. As expected, my golfing grandson had the low score. All in all, they are having a flipping good time.
  17. I learned a long time ago, to not stress over little messes (or big ones either), when the kids or grandkids are around. It makes our time much more enjoyable. since we keep one full time in the summers, we would go crazy thinking about messes.
