There is one under the bed.

I have been to Punxy several times, but not on Groundhog Day. Susan would hate to be standing out in the cold for that long. However, after telling her you could always get tickets to hospitality village, where you can watch it in the warm, have a nice fire, hot cocoa or coffee and restrooms, she said she wouldnβt mind that. Plus, they bring Phil in for a photo op with you and give you some kind of souvenir with your admission ticket. Who knows, maybe next year.

So here is my VRBO story, and yes, they are going up in price. After keeping our holiday tradition alive, having our kids and grandkids join us in a Ft. Lauderdale house rental for Christmas and New Year, my daughter (being optimistic ) asked if we were booking one for next Christmas and New Year. Of course, by the time she asked, the one we were staying in this year was already booked for next year. Too bad, because of all the ones we have rented, we liked that one the best. After searching, we found one that met our requirements (house had to have a pool and hot tub, and be close to the beach). It was advertised to accommodate 9 of us, and had a price we could live with. Within hours of receiving the rental document, they sent an email saying that Ft. Lauderdale changed their short term rental requirements, and that they could only accommodate 8 of us. And they said βBy the way, if you still want it for that week, the rate will be $6k more for the holiday week and heat for the pool.β Needless to say, we moved on and booked another place for the holidays. That is the second time that has happened to us. I keep telling everyone, we could all take a cruise for about the same price that we end up spending on a rental, plus food and eating in restaurants. Unfortunately my daughter is so prone to motion sickness that we will never get her back on a cruise.

Have you looked into using TheBus? They have a good bus system on Oahu. I think seniors can still ride for $1, but regular fare is only $3. We found it easy to get around using it, and you donβt have to worry about trying to find parking places. You can actually circle the island on it. It just depends where you want to go. The other islands I would probably look at rentals.

I need to learn how to plate my meals better, so they look more appetizing. Last nightβs supper of baby back ribs, potatoes with cheese and sour cream, cheese broccoli, and coleslaw. It is what the grandkids had asked us to fix for dinner. It might not be arranged nicely, but it didnβt hurt the taste. I donβt think I would ever tire of this meal.

I keep forgetting that not everyone is as old as I am. It was a fantastic deal when it was $10 for a lifetime pass. I originally bought it because I could get a season launch pass, at a COE lake, for our boat for half price. That paid for it in one season. We have used at several National Parks. Even used them for entry to the forts in Old San Juan a couple times. I had almost forgot that those were part of the NPS.

I always offer to do that with my wife, every time we go skating on the ship. For some reason, she always refuses. π€

If you have an America the Beautiful pass, donβt forget to take it. I bought my lifetime pass several years ago at Marin Headlands. For those that donβt know, they will get you, and another three with you, into the National Parks without paying the entrance fees. They cost $80 now for a senior lifetime pass, but well worth it if you visit many parks. I think they were only $10 when I bought mine. It has paid for itself many times over.

Maybe we could use this Dr. today. We are watching a sick grandson. Maybe it had something to do with that Bengalβs loss last night. So he has wanted us to play Monopoly today. I told him that sometimes that is not a good thing, but he was talking about this kind. π€£ Ricky has been in the box top most of the afternoon now.

I was just following an 8 day Explorer live, and it looks like they still were using the old menus, and had the apple blossom. I hope people are commenting on the menus in their post Cruise survey. And, they still have the old price for the chops filet ordered in the MDR on the Explorer menu. Have they mentioned if theses new theme menus are still on a trial basis?
