  1. After more than two years, not so surprising. Thanks for noting this. 🙂
  2. If you get an internet package and your phone is capable of wifi calling (voip) then that might work for you. Search "voip" on the Princess board and there are many threads talking about this.
  3. Who can tell? That was the only possibility I could see as to why you could order from the tv and the other folks couldn't. Maybe some others in suites will weigh in.
  4. You say "tv's" rather than "tv." are you in a suite or reserve class mini? What I'm wondering is if that might make a difference.
  5. I'm not sure about all the differences, but on the membership section you can click on the image icons for individual cabins and get a scrollable presentation of more pictures of that cabin. The public section only gives you one small image on mouseover. That's the main benefit for me. Also, there aren't any ads or popups on the membership pages.
  6. I also have a lifetime membership with cruisedeckplans, and I always think of it as one of the best $10 purchases I ever made. I refer to it all the time.
  7. We haven't stayed in this exact cabin, but we were in C750 which has a similar beam. We didn't find it to be a problem. If you go here: Ruby Princess Deck Plans, Layouts, Pictures, Videos (cruisedeckplans.com) And select Baja as the deck, you can mouse over an image of the balcony of that cabin. That shows the beam. This wouldn't bother me, but it might bother you.
  8. Looking at drag decks on cruisedeckplans, those cabins aren't under BB King's. But 24 and 28 are under a large unmarked space. No way I can tell what that is, but I do know I wouldn't book one of those without knowing what that space is. It might be no problem at all, but who can tell? I might book 11 or 15. Those are under the public hallway and near the shops. Those might be okay.
  9. I did try it both ways. You're probably right that it's closed this near sailing, but my neighbor and the other gal have both been trying with no luck. Could be a Royal problem - and a royal pain for them. The other gal likes to have everything all cast in cement. I'm sure they'll be fine. I gave my neighbor some advice about what to do when they get on the ship.
  10. I was helping our neighbors this morning on getting them set to sail tomorrow. I asked her if she'd set up dining reservations, and she said she and their travel companions had been trying. The app always said none available, try back later. I tried it myself, being more familiar with the app, and I can't get it done either. She's on the current version of the app, and I dumped the app cache and tried again. Still no luck. Is anybody else having this issue?
  11. Looking at these, I'd think of it more as a punishment than a benefit.
  12. I would vote for flying to FLL. We've only done that once, but the luggage handling was superior. Sacramento is our home airport, and it's a real hassle trying to get a decent flight back. Of course, that may not be true for you. Another reason I'd do it that way is that I think of long flights as painful nuisances, so if I front-load the pain then the return from the cruise isn't so bad. Or so I think.
  13. Alaska. It goes lots of places. 🙂 Cats. They're so great, but they do tend to take over, don't they?
  14. That's a good sailing, but the one I'm salivating over and wishing I could do is the 22 day roundtrip San Francisco. Would love to do that, but we just can't leave our cat for that long. She's well taken care of when we cruise, but she's very dependent. I hope you enjoy your great LA roundtrip!
  15. I don't know how readable this screenshot will be, but I'm trying it. This is on a HAL Alaska sailing in September of 2025. Basic balcony pricing. $60 a day for HIA, and it has a really nice selection of goodies.
  16. This is true, but Princess Plus or Premier don't correspond to HAL's Club Orange. HAL's Have It All is the nearest thing to Plus or Premier. Club Orange gets you priority boarding, priority customer service line, cabin upgrades within the meta category you book, and either special section in the dining room or separate dining room entirely on the new ships. I might be missing some things on Club Orange, but those are the broad strokes. No drink package with that.
  17. HAL has "HIA" or "have it all" which includes drinks and such. Doesn't always include tips, but does sometimes depending on when you book. We haven't cruised on HAL yet, but we do have three cruises booked, all with Club Orange. The think I like best about Club Orange is that it's available to everyone, no matter what cabin category they book. It is limited availability, so a person can't count on always getting it. But on the last one I booked with HAL I booked the bottom of the barrel, completely obstructed ocean view guarantee then added Club Orange for a cabin upgrade to the top level, unobstructed ocean view cabin in our favorite location all the way forward and front of the ship. That's a real win!
  18. I'm not happy either. We have four cruises booked with Princess, not nearly as many as some here. When I booked these, to my mind I was buying a "product." Some parts of that product were Alfredo's/Gigi's at no charge, room service at no charge, and the daggone medallion functions for drink and food deliveries that they so strenuously marketed at us. Now, they've changed the product. I expect prices to go up, and I certainly haven't been surprised about that, but I don't expect that a purchase I've made will change into something else. I'm not saying I wouldn't have booked these cruises if the switcheroo happened before I booked, but I will say that I'll be looking long and hard at other options for three out of four of the cruises we have booked.
  19. You may be right on this in the long run, but that's not what I've been expecting to happen sometime down the road. I've thought for years that eventually the buffet would be the only meal option included in the cabin price. We shall see.
  20. I think a person has to run the math on this for their own situation. My husband hates (hates!) standing in line, so less lines with CO is of benefit. We haven't sailed with CO yet, but we have enjoyed Club Class on Princess quite a lot. The additional menu items were almost always very good. I have three cruises booked with HAL right now, our first sailings on HAL. The last one that I booked just the other day is for September 2025. I was able to book the lowest ocean view guarantee and then upgrade with CO to the cabin I was after - the highest ocean view. For us, this is all fantastic bang for the buck.
  21. Not me! We were "upgraded" once from a lower category cabin that had no problems to a "better" cabin that did have.
  22. I booked us into 10001 on the Eurodam today. Usually, I look carefully at deckplans to make sure there's nothing iffy above or below, but this time for some reason or another I didn't do that. That cabin has the Crow's Nest above it and the Fitness Center below. I'm not worried about the fitness center, since we've been above or below it on other ships. But I am a bit worried about noise from the Crow's nest. This cabin ticks all the boxes for us otherwise - high up and as forward as you can get. Any info will be greatly appreciated. 🙂
  23. When making pies, clear gel is definitely your friend. Also great for canning pie filling.
