  1. I have canceled a cruise the day before the final payment. Actually if you simply do not make the final payment Princess will cancel your cruise for you. The deposit is returned if it is a refundable deposit. We have FCD on file and it simply goes back into the active FCDs.
  2. If you have the plus package, simply go to any bar and ask for a bottle of water. Why buy it when you have the plus package?
  3. Yes as long as it meets standards - grounded plug (3 pronged) 14 gauge coated wire 3 wire. I take one all the time for my CPAP machine.
  4. You must be 21 at least. TABC charges everyone regardless of your home residence. TABC sits outside the baggage claim area just inside the terminal and watches returning pax. Many conceal their alcohol (illegal) and just walk by the table. This is the taxes they charge: Liquor Half pint (200 ml)…..$3.25 Pint (500 ml)…..$3.50 Fifth (750 ml)…..$3.50 Quart (1 liter)…..$3.75 Half gallon (1.75 liters)…..$4.25 Gallon (3.79 liters) …..$5.50 Beer 6, 12 oz……$3.25 12, 12 oz……$3.25 24, 12 oz…..$3.50 Wine Fifth (750 ml)…..$3.25 Gallon (3.79 liters) …..$3.75 Cigarettes Pack …..$1.50 Carton (10 packs)…..$15.00 .
  5. Because of the original policy of not allowing MOBC and SOBC, I moved CCL shares to my DW. Upside of this is that now the SOBC shows up on her account and we are better able to pre-order excursions or other charges before we board since she now has a credit. Before I either had to wait until on the ship or pay for her charges when reserved before boarding. In the end of course it all goes on the same folio.
  6. Great information. We will be aboard the Regal on one of her last cruises out of Galveston in March. We are also going to be on the Regal in 2025 as it returns to Galveston from Southampton. Keep posting information.
  7. Great information as we are sailing in two weeks and do share Alfredo's pizza in the past. We are older and don't eat as much as in the past. Most meals in specialty restaurants is way too much.
  8. We don't mind the medallions and always have ours with us. The room steward checks to see if you are in the room (or at least they should) before opening the door. When we are in there the steward knocks on the door and waits until we answer it. Common courtesy. DW wears hers around her neck while I keep mine in my pocket. It is really small so no big issue. I check our folio several times a day to make sure nothing wrong gets posted. I have not had a problem in years. I will keep watching though.
  9. That stinks so much for starlink being fast. Disappointing. We will be on the Emerald in a few weeks and will be checking the WiFi speed several times.
  10. Sounds like this story was from fantasyland. We were staying the night before a cruise at the Embassy Suites. We went down for the afternoon happy hour and were seated near a large area marked off for a special crowd. Turns out the crowd were either swingers or nudist's! Yes they were all clothed and enjoying their party. Unless we had seen the signs wecoming them we would not have known by their activity. They were going the next day to board a RCCL ship (do not remember which one) and we were going to board a Princess ship. They were well behaved at the gathering. We have known swingers and nudists but have not partaken in their activities or parties. I find it hard to believe that these grops would engage in what the OP is suggesting. Following to see if there is additional proof of this activity. Actually seems more like what has happened on Carnival "booze cruises".
  11. I don't believe there is any difference between the Ruby and Emerald other than the usual cosmetic changes. We went to Share one time as they were having a special to entice cruisers to go. Called that afternoon for a reservation thinking at that late time we would get the late night crowd. Surprisingly they said any time so we went and I found out why as the restaurant had one other couple and a table of 10 that were crew. I know why it did not survive. We have been on the two ships many times and love to go to Sabatini's every cruise and will do it again in two weeks. We always eat in the deck 6 aft MDR so the vibrations (yes they are above the screws) and have not really had a problem. We like going to Adiago's before and after the meal.
  12. Years ago on our first Princess cruise (Grand) we had a cabin under the buffet with only tables and carpeting. Every night the crew moved the tables around to vacuum the carpet etc. The noise around midnight and after as they moved the tables back in place was awful. We resolved to never again get a cabin under the lido deck. I understand the OP's problem and may just have to endure it.
  13. If you have the mini-bottles, you can simply put them in your pockets and walk right through. I have a pair of shorts with deep front pockets and many times in the past put the small rumrunners in my pockets and walked right through. However now that they have Plus there is no need and often we use very little of our cabin setup.
  14. We like Sabatini's better than the Crown Grill but neither of us likes red meat. We generally eat in both on a cruise to use up OBC. I have never been in the Gastropub but have seen it in the Wheelhouse Bar, one of our favorite hangouts. I have never seen the Gastropub busy and many times the only ones there are the crew. It does not appear to be very popular.
  15. It was the MOBC that was refundable but not any more. All other OBC was and is non-refundable so use or lose it. Anyone on a Princess cruise right now can look at their folio and see if anything is refundable.
  16. I have been getting both the military and shareholder OBC up until now so I transferred my 100 shares of CCL to my DW's account so we are set for the change. This may be for the better since Princess requires the money up front for the ship excursions and many times I had to pay cash for the DW's excursions while there was enough OBC I had to pay for it. Once on the ship it becomes a single pot of money of course.
  17. We have done the QC to NY cruise twice and both times the ship was not able to get into Bar Harbor. Nice to know someone made it. We also have done the Greenland cruise out of Red Hook a couple of years ago. In three weeks we are boarding the Emerald at Red Hook and ending at PE with a tour of several Caribbean islands so nice to hear about your time on the Emerald. Thanks for posting.
  18. I book through EZair almost all of the time. It allows one to change reservations up until 45 days before the first flight and I don't have to pay for them until I make the final payment for the cruise. I always have them buy the ticket as soon as I make the payment and then go to the airline website to manage my flights. Once the ticket has been paid the airline treats it as flight(s) booked through them. In almost all cases so far the airline wanted more money for the ticket than EZair but I still check every time.
  19. I did not realize that Sky did not have a Crooners. I was under the impression they all did. This means that we will never go on the Sky anytime soon. We love Crooners and spend a lot of time there each night.
  20. For the first time we bid on an upgrade for our next cruise in November. We have not heard back and frankly could care less. It was on a whim to see how it works. We always book the cabin we want at the location we want so not too much to upgrade.
  21. Women who wear high heels on a cruise ship is asking for trouble. The ship can and does have movement from side to side sometimes without warning. I quit wearing a tie back in the 90's at work so sure won't wear one now. Also in all my jobs as a professional engineer I never was requited to wear a suit or even coat. So for me to cruise, a tie or coat is out of the question.
  22. I did the trip to the midnight sun (Norway). You could tell the Brits from the US by how they dressed on formal night. The Brits would come prepared with formal wear and the colonists (USA) would dress down. It did not change the atmosphere or food because I chose the later. The sun was up for three days.
  23. HOU (Hobby) is 45 miles from the seaport. IAH (International) is 70 miles from the seaport. HOU mainly serves SWA while most of the others use IAH. In order to get to IAH you have to go through the center of Houston, a city of ~4 million, and congestion particularly in the center mix-master is an experience most anytime of the day. I45 from the island is constantly being worked on by TXDOT with frequent lane closures and to that add frequent collisions tying up the interstate and it gets really interesting. HOU is easier to get to but one still has to consider the lane closures and collisions that tie up traffic. Once you cross the causeway leaving the island (only one) you will be in city traffic then add the traffic on the island since many from Houston love to go to the island.
