  1. I have a feeling you meant to post this in your roll call group and not in the general boards. Just let us know if you’re having difficulty accessing your sailing in the roll calls and someone will walk you through it. I see that Coral has answered your question, so please ignore mine.
  2. The step up from the main cabin into the bathroom is about three inches. Just be careful not to stub your toe on the way into the bathroom and remember the small drop as you exit. The step into the tiny shower is about the same. Just high enough to prevent the water from over flowing onto the floor. This is the same for all cabins except mini suites and full suites that are equipped with tubs.
  3. The most forward deluxe balconies on Lido deck and Marina deck have huge balconies and a love seat. We have sailed in L101 a few times and loved it. Also the Club Class minis in that area have huge wrap around balconies. However, these cabins are not for everyone because of the motion of the ship experienced that far forward. These cabins are only available on Royal class ships.
  4. Not sailing til September 2023, so things could turn around by then……we hope!
  5. Trying not to get disheartened every time I read a review of Regal Princess. Just when I think it’s going to be good and I’m feeling positive about our upcoming sailing, I read another review that is very unfavourable with regards to food. I have come to the conclusion that it will either be fine or it’ll be completely terrible. So many conflicting opinions here on CC. Thank you for sharing your experience and I’m truly sorry to hear that it wasn’t what you expected. You live and learn. Hopefully, your next cruise is better. I’m hoping ours isn’t a disaster.
  6. You can get a refundable deposit with Celebrity, but at times the extra charge is just crazy…….up to $1000.00! We usually book with the refundable deposit and then a few days before final payment, we switch over to non refundable. Princess is great with their deposits!
  7. Yes, your deposit is refundable. Your booking will explain that in detail.
  8. Exactly! Comparing apples to oranges. No Princess ship, including Royal class, can compare to Celebrity Edge class ships. Silhouette is a very nice S class and is also one of our favourites.
  9. Of course you are entitled to your own experience and opinions, but after sailing with Celebrity for 25 years, never, ever, on any ship have we seen flies in the buffet and certainly not in any way imaginable a snooty crew! We have sailed on Celebrity Reflection a number of times and it was pristine in all eating establishments and the Celebrity crew was, as always, impeccable. Perhaps your comments were meant to be tongue in cheek or even just a joke. If that’s the case, please excuse my comments.
  10. You are so right, Celebrity is a step up in entertainment and most everything else. However, we recently found that the entertainment on HAL Pinnacle class ships to be quite good. No production shows per se, but other interesting venues. Princess shows are fine, too. Just depends on what you’re looking for. I would never sail any ship dependant on evening entertainment. So many other factors to take into consideration.
  11. So happy to hear you were pleased with the food on Regal. There have been a few reviews lately with not so positive opinions about the quality in the MDR and buffet. As I mentioned, we don’t go with high expectations, but will be delighted if they exceed them. We’re more interested in our amazing itinerary and we do love a mini suite, so it’s going to be wonderful!
  12. We’ll be sailing on Regal in 2023 to British Isles embarking in Southampton. We would have preferred Celebrity, but their ships embark in Amsterdam for British Isles itineraries. We actually like Princess Royal class ships, but Celebrity S class and Edge class is a major step up. We’re going with the knowledge that we won’t be getting great food, but we’re getting a nice mini suite with a great itinerary. We will have a wonderful cruise, regardless.
  13. We sailed Rotterdam on the Maiden Voyage October, 20, 2021, Amsterdam to Ft. Lauderdale. A gorgeous ship! Pinnacle class ships are fantastic. We started with Koningsdam and then Nieuw Statendam. Pool area is unbelievable and main pool area is covered, not on Princess. Cabins are very spacious and, except for interiors, all cabins have a sofa. Bathrooms far exceed anything you’ll get on a Princess ship with a large glassed in shower. Occasionally we felt some rocking, but never anything concerning. Very stable ship and nice size to get around. Very traditional cruise ship feel, but with modern amenities. Entertainment was quite good, as HAL has stepped up their entertainment venues and productions. Like Princess, and unfortunately not like Celebrity, there is smoking in the casino with occasional non smoking evenings. We had a large balcony (more than double the size of a standard Princess balcony) on deck 4-Beethoven, but there are several decks with really substantial balconies. Food was very good, with just a few hiccups. Service is and always has been exemplary on HAL. Buffet has always been a “no serve yourself” policy and it offered plenty of choices. It does have hours that the buffet is closed or offers only snacks. I would most certainly choose Rotterdam over any Princess ship for a TA sailing. However, Princess does offer better itineraries to The Med, and certainly the British Isles. Of course, this is only my opinion and many folks here will strongly disagree, so you will get a balance of positive and negative. Enjoy whichever cruise you choose!
  14. Sorry, but could you please elaborate. Not quite getting what you’re asking us.
  15. As per Princess website under Specialty Dining “New pricing goes into effect for February 20, 2023 voyages and onward”.
  16. My son and his wife asked this question while onboard Caribbean Princess a few years ago. They were told absolutely not! Princess did not want to take on the responsibility of something happening on the balcony during the night. They also asked if they could sleep outdoors on loungers on Lido deck. Absolutely not! They were in their 30’s and thought it would be a fun adventure, but the folks at Princess were not amused. However, I’ll bet there are those who just do it without permission. I would not suggest you try it.
  17. Our experience, exactly! I was in tears when we finally made it onto the aircraft and vowed to never do a repeat.
  18. Absolutely you can. We just choose to pay in Canadian. Thanks for pointing that out for other Canadians who may be interested paying in US dollars.
  19. Our upcoming cruise also disembarks in Southampton and we chose a 2:15 pm flight home to Canada. I’d rather have a leisurely breakfast and window shop at LHR for a couple of hours pre-flight, than to stress out about getting there on time. We took a noon flight out of LHR pre-Covid and it was a nightmare! We were the last ones to board after going through a very chaotic security line. Never again!
  20. Canadians are always quoted in Canadian dollars by our CVP. It’s also quoted in Canadian dollars on Princess.com. because we’re logged in from Canada.
  21. We just added Plus to our existing reservation to avoid the daily increase on December 14th. For us, the extra $10 per day per person is worthless. However, if we add a glass of wine and and one cocktail each day for both of us and the cost of specialty coffees, water, soda, wifi and gratuities, we save about $200. Add more wine and cocktails, and we save big time. No brainer for us to add Plus.
  22. Exactly what we do, too. If we’re going for the shipboard experience only, Celebrity wins hands down. If itinerary is the consideration, we usually choose whichever line gives us the most for our dollar. Alaska itineraries go to Princess as well as British Isles. Caribbean goes to Celebrity, as well as the Med.
  23. Completely agree. Flights are long and very expensive for a seven day cruise. POA is very dated. I personally prefer Celebrity all around, but Princess also does an excellent Hawaiian cruise for less money.
