  1. It’s lovely! I’m sure you enjoyed having it in your stateroom. Thank you for sharing.
  2. I understand that things are different with US banks and Canadian and European banks. In Canada and Europe we use a chip and PIN system for all debit card and credit card transactions. My two Canadian banks do not require prior notice to travel anywhere in the world, because with no PIN, no transaction. European banks are the same, so it’s very easy for us to withdraw money from an ATM at any time of day. We also share the “tap and go” system with Europe. No need to key in PIN. Just tap the icon and it’s done. This applies to transactions under a preset amount of cash or credit, prearranged by the customer and their bank. The customer is not responsible for any fraudulent transactions. I’ve heard that US banks and credit card companies are working to catch up with this technology, so you may be able to do this in the US in the near future,
  3. Yes, they do but their exchange rate is extremely unfavourable to you. Better to locate an ATM in town and get it there.
  4. If you have the Princess Medallion app installed, there you will find what you’re looking for under the Medallion Net tab. When you click on, it will recognize you as Platinum and give you the discounted price. You can the just go ahead and pay for it on the app at anytime before your cruise, but probably a few days before embarkation. sorry, another member beat me to the punch and said it better than I did
  5. I love your positive attitude! I’m sure you ladies will find a way to make it work, regardless of the inconveniences. I’d love to be a fly on the wall listening to all those nighttime giggles! Have a wonderful time and please let us know all about your adventure!
  6. The OP’s question was regarding tips to tour guides. We tipped in the country’s currency, but occasionally ran low, so dipped into our US money. To be very honest, more than half of the folks on our tours tipped zero, nothing, zilch. We figured that US dollars are better than no dollars and the tour guides were happy to receive it. All of our excursions were ship sponsored and paid in full months before sailing. Thank you for sharing your experience, as I was sternly lectured by one of our CC members for using US $ to tip.
  7. Sorry, but wearing a baseball hat while dining in an indoor restaurant is never appropriate. Just saying.
  8. Well, they could leave it their cabin while they eat. I really don’t get this fascination of wearing a baseball cap everywhere you go. My husband wears one to mow the lawn or if he’s out in the sun. Never, ever, indoors.
  9. Yes, we’ve tipped in US dollars and Euros while on Med cruises. Our tour guides readily accepted both. US dollars are easily exchanged at banks.
  10. I think they’re Canadian. Profile name is Newfietravel, which suggests a Newfoundlander.
  11. Honestly, I don’t think anyone here or at Princess Cruises can help you, at this point. Your best bet is to contact the Embassy (are you Canadian…your profile name suggests this?) in Argentina. Maybe another member has some ideas and could advise you better than I can.
  12. My DH and I are now retired and living in the country where we foster large breed dogs and we certainly dress appropriately lol! When we cruise, my DH loves to dress nicely in dress pants, shirt and tie and a sport coat with dress shoes. The suits and tux are now gone. He looks so good and I feel lucky to be by his side. Dressing up can be fun!
  13. Your BIL will be most welcomed at the buffet or the IC or the grill. If he can’t throw on a pair of long pants for an hour and a half for dinner, then he certainly has options.
  14. Cabins will need to be vacated at 8:00 am latest. You will be disembarked by about 9:00. We do walk off at 7:00 at the port and take car service to FCO. New guests will be boarding around 11:00 am.
  15. Unfortunately, our flight arrives on Sunday, mid afternoon, so unable to do the brunch. We’ll go for dinner, for sure! Thanks for the recommendation!
  16. Just go to the cruise search you want to sail on and choose flight quotes. No need to access your current booking, just do a mock booking.
  17. Great! Enjoy your MSC cruise. No need to bother with Princess anymore.
  18. For excursions only as per our CVP when we booked our excursions. Of course, this could be incorrect info and if someone who has used it as OBC, please let us know.
  19. Oh my, I feel your pain, as do many members here. Trying to get reliable, consistent information can be frustrating at times. May I suggest that you get a Princess Cruise Vacation Planner (CVP) or a travel agent to get this resolved. You could also try doing it yourself online. I’m sure there is an option to upgrade your package in Manage My Cruise on your booking. If you click on Upgrade you should be able to see the price and then add it to your booking. I’m hoping that another member might chime in with an even better option for you. Good luck!
  20. Yes, a really good ad and it did make me smile and I confess to singing along
  21. Another Pan Pacific, here. Great location (the hotel will take your luggage directly from your room to the cruise terminal downstairs and give the luggage to the porters). Lovely rooms. Breakfast buffet is lovely overlooking the harbour. Yes, it’s pricey.
  22. Awesome! We only fly nonstop these days and usually Air Canada. Have a great trip!
  23. Please, just get a passport. Having one gives you so much freedom and so little stress when travelling.
