  1. It is the lead case of a class action, so has the potential to keep rolling on & on. A small amount of money and only a negligence finding, but this is definite story - very much a line in the sand case for one reason - precedence . A bit of light reading to send you to sleep tonight https://www.judgments.fedcourt.gov.au/judgments/Judgments/fca/single/2023/2023fca1280
  2. I don't think it is a glitch, but likely a BBCode feature that hasn't been fully turned on, for whatever reason. The files do load successfully - I can still see files I loaded months ago, but nobody else can. I have asked the mods to have a look.
  3. When travelling that far, I am a "lock it in early" sort of person, then I look to fit as much in as I can around the cruise to make the most of the flights. Whichever you choose, you are inside final payment, so it will be pay-in-full and be stuck with the price. Normally at this time, anything with significant availability should already be in the bargain bin. I really have no feel regarding the perfect time to get the best price. Maybe talk with an experienced agent you can trust. Like us, they prefer to cruise a summer holiday, but I have no idea how many do a Kranks type of Christmas. If you find something you like at a price you like, you can just book it and don't look back.
  4. Worth arguing to those curly wig guys. A Novel virus would meet the promise of coming back with new, but when it scored an official name it was no longer a novel virus.
  5. While you can add attachments here, and see they have uploaded OK, it is only the poster can see their own attachments. It shows as "unavailable" to the rest of us. I can see the difference between the old and current deck plans, but cant help beyond that.
  6. Just print out and highlight that last paragraph and take it with you. The email definitely covers for all passengers booked on standard fares, although I believe they haven't written it as intended and that is why it isn't matching who is actually receiving the $25. The argument that led to the credit was - there was no charge for using Ocean Now when we booked! That wouldn't be true for bookings made after 27th July, the date they announced their latest tinkering of plus/premier packages as well as the addition of Ocean Now charges and changing free eateries to "casual" eateries.
  7. I hope I am not feeling like Ned and getting a belly full of lead. Old Melbourne goal?
  8. It used to be easy, but not as clear cut as it used to be. On deck burgers, included in the fare. Burgers from one of the "prix fixe" casual restaurant menus (such as Salty Dog Gastropub) are included for premier, N/C twice for plus, charged for standard. 🤣
  9. Actually, the only reference to Australia is for those in the US/UK getting $AU OBC's on Australian cruises. https://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/faq_answer_legal/military-personnel-benefit.pdf
  10. Yeah, I presumed Princess, but also wondered about the wander. For Princess, the current form on their website says it is combinable with other OBC offers .... but the current form on their website is also dated 2020.
  11. Wow, that is uncanny. I thought that one would take days to find.
  12. Yes, they have a burger grill on deck - same spot as the chips and microwaved frozen pies. They will assemble it, and you add your own sauce.
  13. $6 coffees are OK up till noon. After that, I am still going the cocktails. The joy of a drinks package is that the cocktails become no more expensive than coffee or bottled water.
  14. A bit of a one-off season to be here locally, because it was covidly impossible to do a world cruise. It would be awesome for them to find a spare ship to stay and do local cruises over the winter months. Those past days were good with a Princess ship doing some local cruising in & around 35 night Hawaiian and Pacific/Indian ocean circle cruises. Plenty of 14 night Fiji itineraries during the winter were great. P&O does operate two ships in Australia over the winter months, plus another in NZ. While they are struggling to fill them, they are not about to add competing brands to the market. Future port bookings show Carnival basing a full time ship in Brisbane in 2025. That was their initial plan for Spirit when BICT was originally scheduled to open in 2020. For Royal I am not so sure. If Lelepa is an ongoing concern, they are being very quiet about it.
  15. Correct. As they say, the law is an ass, but it is all we have. If Princess/CA had done nothing wrong in the eyes of the relevant laws, it wouldn't have even made it into court. If the finding was so wrong I would expect there are grounds for appeal. I do find it amusing that part was a consumer claim against their trademark promise "Our promise is to provide guests transformative moments designed to inspire them to discover the world and themselves, ultimately allowing us to declare that a cruise isn't good enough unless you 'come back new.'" . https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/princess-cruises-announces-the-come-back-new-promise-300209988.html They didn't think they "Came Back New" It seems that trademark has now disappeared from their site. Other major Australian companies have removed the word "promise" from their consumer guarantees.
  16. Not if you would rather drink coffee. Tap water is also a better deal than a dirty martini, but I would rather drink martinis.
  17. Do you have a plus or premier package purchased prior to Dec 13 2022? It seems there is conjecture on a similar thread that the ship is saying it was only for those older packages in lieu of the current packages having it. In either case, printout the email. If the above was their intention, they were wrong sending the email to all passengers.
  18. Actually, scratch that Tesla ship. When I first read it, I thought it was a well considered concept, but it has too many holes. It is supposed to be able to charge on the run with solar and wind, something that isn't possible on a smaller scale with his cars. Cold ironing in ports will surely be needed. Secondly, the Musk concept ship is to be autonomous and pre-programmed to dock at the next port. Well, they just aren't going to allow it to sail under those arrangements, and very few ports will allow a ship to come in that isn't being managed by one of their pilots.
  19. Not a lawyer, but a court of law is meant to out the truth.
  20. Correct. Based on those port schedules, it is Grand this season for Melbourne and Brisbane, Diamond next season, and Grand is back the following year. There has been some rumours that Grand could be retiring from the fleet, but it is more probable she will be back again in late 2025 for Melbourne & Brisbane.
  21. They can be carbon neutral by buying offsets. There could also be Lithium of the Seas and Cobalt Princess before too long. https://www.dailycardinal.com/article/2022/11/elon-musk-announces-tesla-cruise-ship Musky X Voyages may be a little ways off, but there is a Chinese battery powered river cruise ship due to go into service any week. https://tvbrics.com/en/news/china-s-first-electric-cruise-ship-to-be-launched-at-the-end-of-the-year/
  22. 1) I can get some current prices on Majestic next weekend. I have some images somewhere from last year, but I suspect they may have changed a bit. 2) Do you have loyalty status with Princess. Elite will get discounted internet. I don't have the current price in hand. 3) Usually not an issue - log out of one device, then log in to the next. Each log in will need to use the same passenger info (name, DOB)
  23. Rhino beetles are leading the fight on carbon emissions from cruise ships. What little heroes. Nature is also fighting back when barnacles latch themselves onto passing hulls to cause the ship another day at anchor. For a future of LNG ships, I don't know if Sydney will have enough demand to bunker LNG ships. Port Botany and Newcastle are planning LNG facilities, so they might be able to offset Icon and spend a day in one of those ports to refuel.
