  1. I have had success with that email this past week, and it is listed on the Carnival Corp pdf. I gather either will work, as they share the same offices, but it might depend whether Kylie is on holidays.
  2. Awwww, Chili. 😭 We booked that one when Edge was first announced a couple of years back, but we cancelled that one a few months ago when we committed to our 1/2 world. So sad!! I was looking at that last night and thinking about it again. Initially, we paid more for a forward facing oceanview, but there was also a decent chunk of OBC.
  3. Kamloops or Kelowna are usually that "commute" stop between the coast & the Rockies. We have tried to stay at 3 Valley gap for something quirky, but they were hard to book a group with. Sun Peaks & Revelstoke have been the pick of the stepping stone stops for us (so far).
  4. I don't know. I would likely go the first one, as it is the cheaper price and we are only $100 out of pocket if we can get a cheaper fare or need to otherwise cancel prior to final payment. In general. cheap fares are great, but often come with strings attached.
  5. Princess in Australia = benefits@princesscruises.com.au
  6. Sun Peaks. Nice alternate hop through the Rockies, and a lot nicer than Kamloops.
  7. Hmm, Might let some others be guinea pigs for that. I would want to be sure before I handed my booking info and share profile over to a 3rd party. Let me know how it goes.
  8. Would have been nice, but I have a date with Good Spirits on Majestic
  9. As an example of varied promo/fare options, I am looking at these options for a cruise on Carnival Luminosa. Code QZY is offering $50 deposits and OBC. It also comes with a non-refundable deposit. Code KEH is giving an included cabin location upgrade. It also has a non-refundable deposit. Code QCP has a refundable deposit. It is also more expensive than what you would lose if you were to forfeit the deposits on the above promos - but it does give you the option to watch the price and cancel/rebook later if you think the prices might come down.
  10. Skipping tonight's game to do some paperwork to get me out of working Friday so I can get into cruise mode a day early. Is it 10 - 0 yet?
  11. We usually have one around somewhere, but way back when you didn't have to buy them to get the benefit, you just had to request a letter that you could apply a reduced deposit to at a later date. The other plus is a bit more flexibility. Been a while, but you used to be able to cancel once and transfer to another cruise. We have a cruise to book in Feb 2025, so will be getting FCD's with that in mind while we are aboard Majestic this weekend.
  12. Within 2 weeks wasn't a challenge for Princess to apply the OBC. Requested by email on Sat 21st October. Applied today (1st November), more than happy, but I am still not using the extra $50 on Alfredo's. Carnival was a different story when it came to the OBC on our boxing day cruise. I emailed the correct address on 26th October at 1:30am US time. The credit was applied on 26th October 9:20am US time. Awesome!!
  13. Star Breeze will make an appearance in Sydney Harbour around Christmas time. The food looks lovely.
  14. I have friends that disembarked this morning - adult friends, travelling as adults with no kids in tow. They loved it, and I enjoyed seeing the photos of them wearing mouse ears. Disney has loyal fans who are happy to pay for the more immersive experience. It isn't just Aussies aboard either. Not our cuppa unless we have grandies that are fans of the Disney brands. For us, I compare it to Rock the Boat cruises, where we are happy to pay twice the money to be immersed with nostalgic pop/rock acts from our younger days. They are twice the price, and still the same food/drinks/islands, but the cruise is somewhere near double the experience. As to the original question, Disney cruising will work in Australia.
  15. It sure was a White Pass Mic. All the way up the climb to Fraser (in Canada) there was snow and a carload of Aussies loving it. A really beautiful experience, holy ship, over 11 years ago when our dollar was king. All yours!
  16. Generally, if you book on something promotional (50% deposits, extra OBC, additional packages etc), the fine print will have you losing your deposit if you want to cancel/rebook your cruise. The cruise we are doing on the weekend on Princess would have us losing our deposit, the Princess cruise we are doing in Feb would see the deposit being refunded if we are chasing a price drop. Ironically, there is rarely a price drop on minis & suites prior to final payment, as they usually sell out P&O is notorious for lock-in fares. The $1 fares aren't a good arrangement, as they are not much more than a hold. One to two months later you will be required to pay the rest of the deposit, and it will be a non-refundable one. The $50 & $99 deposits we have booked with on Carnival & Princess have been great, as no further money needs to be spent till final payment. Mic has hit a big nail on the head. Some T/A's will lock you in via their terms, or terms of the wholesaler they are getting a discount with. Other T/A's are pretty good, but we always ask at the time we are sussing out prices. There have been times when we have been given two or three prices based on the cruise lines' T&C with varied promos & fares. The price is not the only consideration (OBC, guarantee vs cabin choice, T&C's) and it is important to be able to see the whole package before you commit to a deposit. If you are booking direct online, that is your job to comb the fine print before you commit.
  17. Think a popular excursion from another Alaskan cruise port. Not quite in Canada. Close to Canada, but not quite.
  18. Also from the case ruling, these two paragraphs align the decision that it was safe to embark on 8th March with contrary actions on 9th March and a decision to pause all operations being made on 13th March. I have found that before the embarkation of passengers on the Ruby Princess for the cruise in question, the respondents knew or ought to have known about the heightened risk of coronavirus infection on the vessel, and its potentially lethal consequences, and that their procedures for screening passengers and crew members for the virus were unlikely to screen-out all infectious individuals. That knowledge arises from the respondents’ experience in February 2020 of coronavirus outbreaks on other vessels owned and operated by them, namely the Diamond Princess off Japan and the Grand Princess off California, their knowledge of the characteristics of the virus and in particular that asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic people could be infectious, and the respiratory illness outbreak on the Ruby Princess’s immediate past voyage. To the respondents’ knowledge, to proceed with the cruise carried a significant risk of a coronavirus outbreak with possible disastrous consequences, yet they proceeded regardless. There are a number of considerations that have led me to conclude that cancellation of the cruise would not have been so burdensome that a reasonable person in the respondents’ position would not have cancelled the cruise. They include the respondents’ failure to adduce any evidence of how burdensome it would have been to cancel the cruise, or any explanation of their decisions to offer free cancellation for all cruises worldwide leaving from the very next day (9 March) and to suspend all cruising worldwide a few days later (13 March). The respondents were also apparently prepared to cancel the cruise if one of only nine PCR tests from the immediately preceding cruise had returned a positive result. Those matters suggest that to cancel the cruise would not have been unduly burdensome. On that basis, a reasonable person in the respondents’ position would have cancelled the cruise. The respondents were therefore negligent and in breach of their duty of care.
  19. One of those magical days in port during a cruise, and your tour is upgraded by an out of season snow dump.
  20. Yes, early mornings on ABC, at least. PS: This is the caption that went with the photo. Yes it is the ship, but not a correct description of the photo. "The Princess cruise ship docked in Newcastle this morning"
  21. Not that I want it back so soon, but it is an iconic shot. Maid of the Mist below Niagara Falls
  22. Nearly, but close enough. Newcastle Beach - Nobby's is on the other side of those rocks, infamous for playing host to Pasha Bulker. Photo was of Grand Princess approaching Newcastle Harbour yesterday morning, taken by local surf legend Dave Anderson. I did see some bits of the ship from work yesterday, but would have loved to have been there. Next!
  23. Different interpretation I believe. The basis of findings was on what the cruise operator knew or ought to have known at the time the cruise was embarked. An example of facts that are now known would apply to whether Mr Karpik boarded with the virus or caught it aboard. At the time of the infection, little would have been known about the incubation period. A judgement was made on that based on what they now know about the incubation period and the contact tracing trail.
  24. Interesting. The itinerary of your cruise has changed on Royal's site, but the January cruises haven't. I don't know if that is because they haven't locked in a new itinerary, or if they were waiting for final payment date to pass. Carnival had also cancelled Mare, so this is puzzling. 9th January is currently showing as: Sydney, Australia Lifou, Loyalty Islands Mystery Island, Vanuatu Port Vila, Vanuatu Mare, New Caledonia Isle Of Pines, New Caledonia Sydney, Australia 19th January is currently showing as: Sydney, Australia Noumea, New Caledonia Mare, New Caledonia Lifou, Loyalty Islands Sydney, Australia
  25. Very much unlike the Pasha - later known as the Drake and now as the Anthea. Pasha couldn't stick the turn and only got a 2.5 for the wave. So, the beach would be .....?
