  1. It’s not a just in case situation, they will need to bring their own food and formula. Powdered would be easiest, just add warm water (by the time I had #4/#5 I just used room temperature water and served food room temperature, so easy).
  2. Actually our first family cruise was right after a WDW vacation, they had dog tag chains for their dog tags with our information in case they got lost.
  3. I’ve lived 10 miles out of NYC my entire life, close to two major international airports, and know plenty of people who’ve never traveled internationally and don’t have passports - and that’s okay. I’m sure if they ever plan an international trip, they will just get passports. I can’t understand why folks care that other people don’t have passports.
  4. Lol we are a family of 7 with 1 1/2 baths, the full bathroom could not be any smaller. At least on a cruise we have 2 cabins so 2 full baths. Our bathroom garbage cans are very small.
  5. Just go to petco and get dog tags (my kids let our dog off leash hiking and we got a phone call from a home owner in the next town, my kids had dog tags at WDW).
  6. I agree, there might be port staffing issues.
  7. I know on NCL you can’t take sushi out of the restaurant, food safety concerns.
  8. Blame your country’s travel regulations (which are actually better than ours in the US for different situations).
  9. I’m pretty sure most private health insurance in the US can’t be used out of the country, we have Aetna, a pretty good plan, but always get travel insurance for medical.
  10. Our family of 7 has valid passports, but it cost close to $1000. Three of my kids traveled internationally this year, but not everyone goes out of the country. It takes a bit to get appointments here, and it was a pain when the kids were little, my husband had to leave work early because we both had to be there.
  11. Anyone who doesn’t take the $20 a day alcohol package is likely not a drinker, so NCL would rather get the $ with the soda package than just the gratuity.
  12. Do you drink alcohol at all? If you drink more than one alcoholic drink a day it might be worth it.
  13. A tracker might be helpful, might not be helpful, but I see no harm in it.
  14. He forgot he couldn’t bring his flask in due to security (hid it outside and it was still there when it was over). My young adult kids go into the city frequently, have friends who live there, they pregame a lot. My niece just moved to Seattle after 15 years in Manhattan. When I go out to eat in my NJ town, my wine is always $12 - $14 in casual restaurants, I prefer byo’s, of which there are many with liquor licenses being so expensive and limited.
  15. I’d do car service, Uber xl’s can be dicey with 5 and luggage. Does your hotel room sleep 5?
  16. Depends but yes, higher end restaurants, bars and hotels. My son spent $45 on a double tequila at a Broadway show.
  17. Do you remember the little boy who got away from his parents after boarding a DCL ship and drowning while his family desperately looked for him? When we lost kids, it’s always been in situations when we had extra adults (family). We lost my dad with mild dementia in Walt Disney world on a scooter because our party split up, and both assumed he was with the other. It wasn’t until we met up for a dining reservation that we realized he was missing. Fortunately he had a cellphone and we could reach him. I think grandma wants her grandkids to be as safe as possible.
  18. Schools in the northeast have spring break in April, usually backing up to the beginning of end of easter week (our kids get out for summer the end of June). Florida is an easy flight.
  19. I have had others disagree, but I have never heard or read about anyone ever being turned away from parking at the pier, I think this new reservation option is just a way to make more of a profit. We’ve sailed during fleet week and pier 88 was used by those ships, plenty of parking at 90.
  20. I have 5 as well, all good until 1 of the twins (#5) learned to walk, thank goodness for those harnesses (especially since #3 was only 22 months older), otherwise we’d never get to go on walks (had to get 1 for his twin as well, she was jealous). Also had to get door alarms after a couple of escapes. On our first cruise (DCL) with the grandparents, went to the buffet after embarkment. I sat down with some food, asked “where is C” (almost 5), my mom said “he wanted to go back to the cabin, he said he knows where it is.” I took off, sure enough he was in the cabin (and was never allowed to do that again). He was quite a daredevil but always landed on his feet.
  21. We brought large yeti’s on our last cruise, fill them up with hot coffee at the buffet (using cups), coffee stays piping hot until evening.
  22. I don’t think that’s necessary, if you want to research a plan b to make you feel better, check out Uber to public transportation options, like a bus. I live 10 miles from Manhattan and there are different ways I can get there, several buses, several train stations, park and rides, ferries…
