  1. I’ve read that steaks on cruise ships are sous vide and then seared, we do this at home and it works well, hard to overcook steaks using this method.
  2. And 11 months olds can’t splash in any pool, potty trained kids only.
  3. So a beer at a bar costs $1 (US)? Your bars and restaurants provide alcohol at the same price you can buy it at a store? If I buy a 12 pack of bud from my liquor store it’s about $1 a bottle, if I order a bottle at a bar it’s around $8.
  4. You will have to get on the security line for the SOL ferry, it can take more than an hour. I don’t see you having time for Broadway. Central Park is great and they have a cute zoo. I’d get car service no later than 4 am.
  5. If it makes you feel better, that’s how much drinks cost at my local bars and restaurants. We are 10 miles from NYC where the drink prices are triple ours.
  6. Plus the medical center leases space on the ships, like the spas.
  7. It’s listed as a PNC bank solutions center, it says online that you can make appointments for.services but they don’t have tellers.
  8. I believe the NCL breakaway and encore have family ocean views that sleep 5, I’m guessing other ships in that class have them.
  9. But the bank is still there, just locked. It surprised a lot of locals.
  10. Yes, no tellers anymore, just the atm. She opened up the account 4 years ago because there was a branch at her university, she’s home this summer for clinicals so I’m going to suggest she switch.
  11. Brilliant on their part, offering prepaid reservations makes it look like reservations are needed.
  12. Even after a tip that is a very fair quote and I don’t think you’d get a cheaper trip with taxi/Uber/Lyft.
  13. It’s been my experience, having multiple teens of various ages on cruise ships, that the clubs have some activities but it’s more of a way to introduce teens to each other. They really do form groups themselves with those the same age. On our last cruise my 14 and 16 year old daughters, who are like best friends, found different groups. It works.
  14. On NCL you can order all meals in advance and have them delivered to any venue, cruise lines tend to have similar policies.
  15. I think the newer ships on NCL have family ocean view cabins for 5, you need to call to book them and they sell out quickly.
  16. Yes, my daughter stocks up when she’s home in NJ, she was frantic at one point. And her bank here in NJ is cashless so we have to use our bank.
  17. Lol of course there are laundry mats still, where would folks do their laundry who don’t have a washer/dryer? My daughter is living in Boston, laundry mats are the only place you can get quarters there (banks don’t have them), but you need to use their machines in order to get quarters. We have several in our small suburban town.
  18. September is an expensive month, maybe look downtown in the financial district? There is no need to stay close to the port, easy cab or Uber.
  19. Not when we sailed years ago, that was our first cruise that the rules changed.
  20. Met a couple on our first cruise on CC, they actually parked in our driveway and we shared a car service to Manhattan and split the cost. They were upgraded to a forward suite, so rocky and they couldn’t really use their balcony at sea.
  21. I think breakfast is difficult if the younger set stay out late and want to sleep in. Our family of 7 (5 kids) would have dinner together every night. Sometimes breakfast if everyone was up, never lunch (they were with their new friends all day).
  22. We have had issues debarking in Manhattan one Sunday, not enough staff at the pier. Lined up before 7, got though security at 11. My daughter’s confirmation was at noon, made it to the church just in time (but unshowered).
