  1. Thank you all for the great pictures! And thank you to Laura @TiogaCruiser for starting the thread and providing so much information. It was a wonderful day!
  2. No extra charge and I was told no reservations. On the WC blogs I remember it said that you had to make reservations so that might be the case on your GV. Your pictures are amazing and I love the reenactment one!
  3. Good morning and Happy Sunday from the lovely Volendam. We are at sea today. The MDR is having a Sunday brunch. I had seen them on the WC blogs and I believe Nancy @ottahand7 mentioned on on her GSA so I was hoping they would be fleet wide. Yesterday late afternoon and evening I had internet problems and didn’t realize that I need to reconnect to the internet through the app when that happens. So I need to go back and catch up on yesterday’s Daily and Laura’s @TiogaCruiser PC thread. Have a great day everyone!
  4. Happy Birthday to Charlene @cunnorl!! Happy Birthday to Annie @marshhawk !! Enjoy your special day! 🎈🎈🎈
  5. I boarded in Fort Lauderdale a week ago today and the Club Orange priority boarding lane was combined with the 4* and 5* priority boarding lane. I have seen it like that before in Seattle and San Diego. I do agree with @VMax1700 that some embarkation ports like Barcelona did not have that, but when we boarded in Barcelona last June it didn’t matter because the lines were short and we went through quickly.
  6. Good morning from the lovely Volendam sailing the Gatun Lake right now. Earlier I went out on deck 6 for about an hour. It was nice but it was taking longer than I seemed to remember from my previous transit and needed to get to breakfast. When I got back we had already passed the “arrow” marking our lane. But I found a nice shady spot on deck 3 and watched until my pedicure appointment. Have a great day everyone!
  7. Thank you all so much. He can get it on his phone but not our desktop.
  8. Thank you Laura for the wonderful pictures. Could someone please post the link to the Miraflores webcam. My DH is having trouble finding the right one.
  9. We are getting ready to leave Cartegena. The Captain asked for two passengers to report in. I’m guessing that they didn’t make it. I’m in the MDR for express lunch and the aft is shimmying and shaking. Both are women and I’m not sure when they could rejoin the ship. We are in Puerto Caldera on 24th and Puerto Vallarta on the 28th. Desset at lunch. Cheesecake.
  10. Good afternoon. I forgot earlier to mention my Kindergarten experience. I went to a Seventh Day Adventist Church school in Kansas City, MO. My father’s family were Adventists and I think it was free. My DM was putting my DF through dental school. I was in an all day class and we had nap time after lunch. Maybe that’s where my love of naps are from. Thank you for your reply. I’m scheduled for that same one in Cabo too. Good to know you liked it also. We have a sea day between PV and Cabo though. Maybe the Volendam doesn’t have the speed that the Eurodam has. But I’m happy with all the sea days.
  11. Good morning everyone and Happy Friday from the lovely Volendam in Cartegena. I chose not to go ashore today so am enjoying the ship. Right now I’m in the Crow’s Nest starboard because port side is freezing. We are next to the huge Norwegian Joy. Last night I went to the Pinnacle Grill and had three appetizers and dessert. It was too much food for me. Bruce @aliaschief, is this the excursion that you were on today? I had originally booked it but it was in the afternoon and canceled it when I realized that I’d be back so late. Now that our time in port has changed to include the morning I rebooked it for the morning. From your description it sounds like the same one and good to know that you really enjoyed it. Have a great day everyone!
  12. I was on the same sailing as @fsdj1097 and loved it, although two ports were canceled or changed. Santa Barbara and Monterey. It was our first Pinnacle class ship and loved it. The sailing had less passengers than usual.
  13. I hope you get a set dining time. But of course things might change between now and then.
  14. Our guide said that the water in Aruba was the best in the world. He said that WHO had done testing and proved that it was the best. He mentioned the name of the company but I don’t remember it now. I have been to Curaçao and enjoyed it very much and think it’s prettier than Aruba.
  15. That is an amazing collection of facts! No wonder the Daily is the best place to meet friends.
  16. Thank you Roy. Unfortunately I have an inside cabin so won’t have a view from there. I plan on roving around. This is my second PC transit so I don’t have to see everything. I plan on watching some from Deck 3. A lot has changed since my first transit in 2000, mostly the addition of the first two bridges. The speaker onboard is fantastic. His name is Glenn-Michael.
  17. Good morning from the lovely Volendam at sea. I’ve overheard many anytime dining passengers complaining about MDR waits at dinner. I am so happy that I have fixed main dinner. I’ve had no problems and my server knows what wine I want and that I have a small appetite. So Carolyn @Cruising-along, I hope you have a fixed seating arranged for your cruise. I have a dear Chinese friend I’ve known since high school. She taught me a few phrases but I only remember one. I had to look up the spelling since I only know it phonetically. Tuō xié — take your shoes off. Vanessa @JazzyV, enjoy your cruise! This morning I’m going to a Panama Canal talk. The first sea day there was a talk on the History of the Panama Canal, today is what to see and not miss. The burrata and beets were delightful last night. Have a great day everyone!
  18. Good evening from the Volendam at sea heading to Cartegena. We are hardly moving. Tomorrow is a sea day so I guess we’re in no hurry. Thank you Maxine. I’m sure the beaches are lovely but driving around the island was not my favorite. I really never realized that Aruba was a desert island. The desert I live in is much nicer. Edi, we have an outlet upstairs that is connected to one in the garage. I really need to get that fixed! What a pain. Also— I visited Mount Vernon in 1989 and loved it and really want to go back. One of the best tours I’ve been on.
  19. Good afternoon from the beautiful Volendam in Aruba. I really thought I was going to love Aruba but I only love the Butterfly Garden. Amazing! Have a great day everyone!
  20. Lots of people wearing orange. The piano lounge that I go to for trivia is next to Mix, it’s sort of an open area between the two. Trivia has been held there but it’s called Mix in the program. I’ve not heard anyone playing it yet but I don’t frequent it unless it’s trivia. Back in the day it was more closed off and Mix was the Sports Bar. Even the shops area nearby is more open than the last time I was onboard. But that was 22 years ago so lots of changes since then. But I still love this ship and the smallness. You can actually look up and down the corridor from your cabin and see all the elevators.
  21. View from breakfast in the MDR. Happy Birthday to Jim @Cruzin Terri and Martha @sailingdutchy!!
  22. Good morning and Happy Tuesday from the beautiful Volendam! Happy Birthday Holland America Line! 🎈 🍾 🥂 ⛴ Tonight is the Orange Party in honor of the anniversary. The menu hasn’t been posted yet so I don’t know if they are planning anything special in the MDR. Today is also my DD’s 42nd birthday. I can’t text her today (she doesn’t have an iPhone) so will email her instead. Have a great day everyone!
