  1. Good afternoon from the Nieuw Statendam in Cape Canaveral. It looks to be a lovely day. Craig is on the Kennedy Space Center excursion. I stayed onboard and enjoyed the quiet morning, packed, had a drink at the Ocean Bar, then lunch at the Dutch Cafe. Yum. Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy your special day! 🎈🎈🎈 Great crew pictures! Thank you.
  2. Most definitely those dates. The third will depend upon what time all aboard is and my best guess is New Year’s Eve. We did the special New Year’s Eve dinner at the Pinnacle Grill and I remember it being a dressy night.
  3. Annie, I think it’s too early to make reservations. I say check again every few weeks. You’ll know it’s loaded into the system when you have different time options and it accepts your reservation. Don’t worry too much about missing one. Reservations have been very open on all of our recent sailings.
  4. I’m on the Nieuw Statendam right now and ordered flowers for the cabin on day two. And they’ve lasted almost two weeks. I don’t think flowers onboard will go away. It’s possible there are country regulations that have to be considered. I usually wait to order once onboard and just get the cheapest arrangement. These were carnations beautifully arranged.
  5. Katie, so glad to hear you are covid negative. When my DH was in covid jail in June and I wasn’t it was a true homecoming. Enjoy your cruise!
  6. Last night I had a B52 drink for the first time. I’m not a big cocktail drinker but I saw someone else order it for dessert and it looked delicious. I loved it! It’s meant to be drunk as a shot but I did it in two shots. It might become my new dessert. It’s a layered drink. Bottom layer is Kahlua, middle is Bailey’s, top is Grand Mariner.
  7. Good morning from the Nieuw Statendam at sea. Tomorrow we will be at Cape Canaveral. Sunrise was gorgeous this morning. Photo curtesy of Craig. The internet is really slow this morning so I’ll stop with one picture. Bruce @aliaschief— your food tour looks amazing. Paul Bochuse is an icon. And those oysters! Enjoy your cruise. We have nothing planned for today. I just love these sea days. Have a great day everyone!
  8. Beautiful sunset tonight. Flowers as you enter Deck 3 MDR. Have a good evening!
  9. Good morning from the Nieuw Statendam at sea. It’s dark and stormy looking outside. Yesterday didn’t turn out the way we wanted and didn’t get the Freedom Trail completed. But we did enjoy lunch at the Union Oyster House. We started with oysters but I forgot to take a picture. Clam Chowder Mussels Lazy Man’s Lobster, it doesn’t look like much but there was a lot of huge chunks of lobster under the crumbs. And we went upstairs to see JFK’s booth. Even though I have been there before it was the first time to see it. Our plans for today are trivia, lunch, and the Captain’s talk. For Craig it’s reading. Have a great day everyone!
  10. Sandi @StLouisCruisers , I was so saddened hearing about your friend Beverly. What a shocking loss and so sudden. I can’t imagine your grief reading the email.
  11. Happy Birthday to Joy @Seasick Sailor and @SusieKIslandGirl!!!! Enjoy your special day today! 🎈🧁🍾🥂🎉🎈 Graham @grapau27 — please give Pauline my wishes on the 4th memory of her Mother’s passing. Also, I think I know what you two are up to this week. Something her Mother would want you to be doing. I’ll keep your secret. 🤫
  12. Good morning from the Nieuw Statendam as we approach Boston. The internet is slow this morning. I can see the buildings in the distance on the bow camera. Yes, our TV is finally working! Yesterday was cold and cloudy and it drizzled all day. We got off the ship about 1:15 after we went through immigration. We just went out for lunch, the lobster rolls were good. The tiny place was packed and a nice couple from the AOTS ship asked us to share their table inside because it was too cold outside I was surprised about the pickle. Craig also ordered mussels. Have a great day everyone!
  13. I’m on the Nieuw Statendam right now and this is today’s Lido menu with hours.
  14. After breakfast it is finally working. I hope it lasts. We are in a Vista and our TV is on the wall across from the bed. I can imagine it would be difficult above the couch.
  15. Yesterday was a beautiful day in Saint John! We went on the trolley tour and enjoyed seeing the highlights along with the reversing rapids and the city market. Our TV hasn’t been working since day two and I’ve reported it every day. Last night we were notified that all TV were reset and working but alas ours still wasn’t. I reported it last night and again this morning. Now after breakfast it’s working. Hopefully that will last. The fog this morning. We don’t have any plans today, just walking around and finding Lobster. Craig took this picture from our balcony as we were sailing in. We also saw some huge gorgeous homes along the shore.
  16. For those wondering, @ciabelle is on the Nieuw Statendam and the picture is of the NCL ship the Joy, or as the Captain called it, a monstrosity, with our ship behind it at dock in Saint John yesterday. I don’t know where the stone is but it’s somewhere along the bay.
  17. Good morning from the Nieuw Statendam on a foggy morning sailing to Portland, ME. I think it might be the heaviest fog we’ve so far on the cruise. Yesterday was a lovely day in Saint John. Our TV hasn’t worked properly since day two and I’ve reported it almost every day. So last night I was hopeful when we received a voicemail that “all” TV’s have been restored but, no, ours is still not working. Frustrating, I enjoy watching TV and with two sea days coming up I’ll be really upset without a TV. Have a great day everyone!
  18. Good morning from the Nieuw Statendam approaching Saint John, NB. It appears to be a lovely day. The sea is calm and I don’t see any fog. We decided to do a HOHO today. Tomorrow we will be in Portland, ME and have immigration inspection before going ashore. I use dictionary dot com frequently. Craig is always looking up words especially when he’s reading. I’ve seen recipes for grapes with steak and all the ones Tina shared look yummy. Cats are sweet creatures and I wish we had one. I’ve always had a cat until our Maine Coon and his sister died in 2008. Have a great day everyone!
  19. Today we went to Peggy’s Cove. Lovely! But I thought I was going to be blown away.
  20. Good afternoon from the Nieuw Statendam in port at Halifax. We had an early tour to Peggy’s Cove. It was beautiful even though the wind wanted to blow me away. I have to admit that Craig took all the pictures. Back on the ship, up to the Crow’s Nest for a glass of wine then lunch. I decided I wanted a Ruben from the deli. But their Ruben isn’t like what it should be so I ask for it extra toasted, make sure the cheese is melted, and extra dressing on the side. Next time I’ll add an extra slice of cheese and it’ll be close to what I like. With Dive In fries, yum. I’ve decided that they really aren’t fries. They have to be processed and shaped like fries then frozen then fried. In the meantime, Craig has waited forever for a pizza. It ends up a bit burnt around the edges. He’s not happy. Tomorrow is Saint John. We still haven’t decided what to do and need to make a decision today. DS and his DGF have a pug. Hopefully he’ll calm down but he’s a bit feisty. The girls like to take silly pictures of him. I like Brussel Sprouts, usually at the holidays, but don’t overcook them! Have a great day everyone!
  21. I don’t remember you asking before but we really like the Wyndham near the port. It’s right across the street and an easy walk. Ask for a bay view room and you can watch all the goings on throughout the morning.
