  1. When we have been there, there were signs at the top and bottom of the ramp saying to stay off the ramp. There were also chains going across so people would use the stairs. I wonder when they started letting people use the ramp.
  2. Cafe at 270 is usually open disembarkation day too. We always grab a couple of breakfast sandwiches from there and take them back to our cabin and eat as we get ready to get off the ship.
  3. That has been our experience as well, WJ and MDR closed at 8:15 and 8:30 respectively. Cafe Promenade only open until 8:30, Park Cafe until 8:15.
  4. Is that child going to use a birth certificate instead of their passport?
  5. When you are in Ketchikan, there is a really cool store on Creek Street called Soho Coho. They carry artwork by an artist named Ray Troll and they sell some really eclectic tshirts. My son is a tshirt and jeans guy, as well as a Star Wars fan and we got him a Return of the Sockeye shirt, as well as a The Empire Strikes Bass shirt. Just really unique shirts if you have any tshirt lovers. Here is a link to their store. https://www.trollart.com/product-category/t-shirts/
  6. The MLR team he was with had a lot of guys from his club team and some international guys that they sponsored. The coach from his club team was the original coach but once they found some financial backing, they brought in a much better coach and a lot of international players, including new props. My son could have stayed on to be with a practice squad that just got beat up on a regular basis but he chose to stick with his real job as an engineer since the money they were offering was not worth the continual beatings. The international talent they brought in got decent contracts and the team now has a lot of sponsors and the whole organization has come a long way. He is happy that he got to do what he did but it was the right choice to step back. He has also coached in a youth program and also as a front row coach at the high school level.
  7. My son has been playing rugby since his freshman year in high school and is still playing at 32. He played one year in the MLR for a team that was in its provisional year before joining the league. I wish he would start playing for the old boys but he isn’t ready to step back just yet. He currently is playing prop but played hooker in high school and college.
  8. Travel Passes work in port, not on the ship. We have used them for years when we cruise. The app will work on the ship by just connecting to Royal wifi. Put your phone in airplane mode and then connect to wifi. You will then be able to use the free chat function in the app, though it isn't very good, and also access the compass and make reservations etc. If you need internet access or want to call or message off the ship, you will need to buy a Voom package. Verizon does have a cruise plan again but it has very minimal data, like 50mb, and isn't worth the money in my opinion.
  9. Just be really careful with your electric blanket. I know they told my Dad not to use one. I know everyone is different and my Dad had a bunch of medical issues but it was his neurologist who said not to use it. 🙂
  10. Yes, I do this every time. You can use the website or the app.
  11. Check in opens at midnight local time of the port of departure. Many people check in just after midnight to get the earliest times. 10am has been the earliest time for my most recent cruises. I was able to get 10 am when I checked in at 12:05am. I checked in at 12:12am for our upcoming cruise and the earliest I could get was 10:30. Many on my rollcall have 10.
  12. We prefer deck 6 near the aft elevators on Oasis class ships. Puts you on same deck as the Boardwalk, one down to Royal Promenade or two up to Central Park.
  13. I will have to give that a shot. I have never been thrilled with the coffee that comes out of those machines. Maybe that will be a combination that I will actually finish.
  14. I don't let him play basketball anymore! He has broken his ankle and also ruptured his quadricep in each leg. Three injuries that took him a long time to recover and didn't allow him to drive himself to work because he either couldn't fit behind the wheel of the car because the leg brace was to cumbersome or the injury was on his right leg. With two of the injuries, he was working in NH and we live in MA. I had to drive him to and from work for months. It was about a two hour commute for me in the morning and afternoon each day as he only took very little time off with each injury. I remember your ankle injury was very severe and you had in-patient rehab. He didn't have to do in-patient rehab and only one of the quad repairs required him to stay in the hospital overnight. His second one was 10 years later and the surgery is now outpatient with him being weightbearing the entire time, whereas the first quad he was non-weightbearing for months. It is amazing how things change.
  15. My DH walked into the ER on a broken ankle. It was actually broken in two places. He rolled it playing basketball and sat out a few plays and went back in the game and rolled it the other way. Drove himself home (was right ankle), refused to have it looked at, went to Easter dinner at my sister's house, went to work the next day and promised he would meet me at the hospital to have it looked at. I told him to come home and I would drive him to the hospital since he wasn't going to be able to drive with whatever they put on it, splint or cast. Doctor at hospital was amazed he was walking on the ankle. It was huge and all sorts of ugly colors. He was in a cast for six weeks and we ended up cancelling a cruise because he was so miserable.
  16. Just turn on wifi calling and you don't have to use whatsapp. Not everyone has whatsapp, using wifi calling will allow you to call anyone. Just tty it at home on your wifi with your phone in airplane mode to make sure you have it setup correctly.
  17. Yum! I used to work at a mutual fund company in Boston and we had a few pot luck luncheons around the holidays where everyone would bring their families favorite dish. Every year, we all looked forward to the Stuffies that one person who commuted from Rhode Island made. The recipe sounds just like yours.
  18. The cartoonist is known for hiding things in the cartoon, like Disney hides Mickey ears in pretty much everything. I see three also.
  19. Walking a mile and a half in 45 degree water can do that! They weren't numb though, just cold. It was 84 degrees outside at the time, so they warmed up very quickly.
  20. We went to Singing Beach in Manchester by the Sea Tuesday. Water temperature was 45 degrees. We walked the beach in the edge of the water. Cold but wonderful.
  21. We had dolphins right alongside our tender on a Pacific Coastal cruise when we were tendering in Monterey. It was really cool to see them right beside us.
