  1. In June on Royal Princess, the headwaiter allowed me to order from the dining room menu for lunch the following day. That was really nice, but the first time that has happened.
  2. There used to be a Hertz office across the street from the Crowne Plaza Hotel, haven't been in the area for two years. Enterprise is next door to the hotel. Be sure to check the hours they are open. I think one or both were closed on Sunday.
  3. With close to 400 days on Princess, I agree with others that the service is great. We've often had bartenders and stewards call us by name. But, on the Royal in June to Alaska our waiter came around and named all eight of us by name the first night. I'm sure it was medallion assisted, as your picture shows. This was a first for us. We've had waiters call us by name before, but not until a few nights into the cruise.
  4. We stayed there in March 2020. Very clean, quiet, private, an old motel turned into a boutiqueish hotel. No elevators. A couple of good restaurants a few blocks away. Would stay again.
  5. We've done various cruises with groups of 4, 6. 8. and 14. We've had to do each night individually. Word of advice, even though you have the same group, same time, and same dining room, do not assume you will get the same table every night. It is logical that you would, but the app throws all logic to the wind. If you want the same table, be sure to see the head waiter, for your section, the first night and let him know that is what is what you expect.
  6. As with many answers about Princes, "It depends". Some bars on some ships may have it. If it is on the ship, and you go to the same bar all the time, the bar tender will probably get some, and keep it for your drinks. This year I've found it on Sky and Caribbean, but not Royal. Just in case, I will usually bring some of my own. Then sometime during the day, I get a shot of gin neat, (with either a lime wedge or slice of cucumber) and take it back to the cabin for later.
  7. That would make sense, but in reality, it doesn't work that way. As JimmyVWine said, talk to the Head Waiter, or whatever they are called these days. We've had to do that on five cruises so far.
  8. Same in June. It was on one week, then not the next. I don't remember whether it was the Northbound or Southbound, Vancouver/Whittier.
  9. We prefer the Palm, as we used to get traditional seating, and are usually in an aft cabin on Riviera deck. Plus, it usually seems less busy.
  10. I would check on the American website to see if has been changed there. If it has, call American. I've always called the airline first when an unacceptable change has been made, even when using EZ Air.
  11. I have only seen tables for 10. We were on the Caribbean in May and had a party of 14. We had a table for 6 and one for 8 next to it. A number of years ago we did have a table for 12 on the Coral. They added two seats to a table for 10. It was a bit crowded, but we had a ball.
  12. We were just on the Royal in June. It's a nice ship, but not the best for Alaska. The Sapphire and Grand have much better outside viewing areas. We would prefer either of them, as they take the true Inside Passage. (In fact, we had booked Sapphire to Alaska this year. Princess changed it to Royal. We were also booked on Coral for June 2021 that was canceled.) But, if neither of them went to Glacier Bay, and Royal did, we would take the Royal.
  13. As mentioned we had to speak to the Head Waiter of the section to get what we wanted. Although we had the tables, gaining access to the dining room was another problem. When our medallion was scanned, the lady at the door would tell us that we had reservation in a different dining room. We would tell her no, we were at the right place. She would then check with her supervisor, and he would wave us through. The third night I just walked in, checked to make sure our tables were ready, then scanned the medallion, then just walked in. Yes, we had the traditional dining experience, but we had to jump through some hoops to do it. Other than dealing with the APP, we had great service for the actual meal. Incidentally, since we usually travel with a group, the traditional dining was something that attracted us to cruising in the first place. In a group of 14, 12 will say "I don't care where, or when". The other two can't agree on a time or place. As the old saying goes, "it's hard to get all of the puppies in the box".
  14. Agreed, if the APP works, it is a pain. It was a Back-to-Back, with four people the first week, and 14 the second. The APP recognizes this as a 14-day cruise, not as two seven-day cruises. Had to enter every night separately. Couldn't make reservations for four the first week, then 14 for the second.
  15. If Discovery is like the other Royal Class ships, there is an outside area aft on Deck 17, over the Wake View Bar.
  16. And Amber Cove, all built by Carnival Corp.
  17. We are sailing on Sky in March, and the latest dining time I have found is 7:30. I have to disagree with those that told you to have two people make reservations for six. We were recently on Caribbean Princess with a party of 14. I made the reservations for all 14. We were at a table for eight, right next to a table for six. I think you have a better chance of getting tables near each other by doing it this way. It will still require talking to a Head Waiter, or MD, or DRO, whatever those are. ( Can you tell I hate using letters, not words?) We all went to the Crown Grill one night, and simply told the Head Waiter about it the night before.
  18. We had a 6-pack of beer taken from us when reboarding in Hawaii. It was a private firm at the pier, not Princess security on the ship. It was returned on the last day, nice and cold. Had to drink it as our bags where already packed.
  19. Yes, it is. At the corner of Federal Highway and 17th.
  20. Another vote for Harv & Marv. We've used their services the last four trips.
  21. Lucky you. Have tendered in both Ketchikan and Juneau. Sitka too.
