  1. I think @Vict0riann is sailing on the Rotterdam on 3/29.
  2. Good morning. Happy International Dailyites Day, with special thanks to @richwmn! I started posting here on Dec 31, 2020, although I'd been reading and lurking for months before that. As a long time Star Trek fan, I will salute the Vulcan greeting "live long and prosper". We have our own Dailyite holiday today! I'm not a big spinach person. Interesting quote. The meal sounds good as well as the drink. Pass on the wine. I haven't been to Praia. Things are getting back to normal here. Some places had trees down and into houses, unfortunately. Lots of power outages, around 100,000 people. A friend was out until this morning, so I was lucky mine was only 2.5 hours. Today is sunny and thankfully the winds have died down. I was confused when I turned on the TV this morning for the local news and the M-F anchor and weather person were on; I thought is it Monday? I guess due to vacations or something. @StLouisCruisers Thank you for starting us up today. Scary sounding weather, with hopefully no damage. @grapau27 I appreciate you sharing Fr. David's sermon today. @rafinmd I like your alternative meal. @mamaofami Happy 21st Birthday to your DGS Jeremy! @kazu Good luck with the hanging baskets, and thanks for today's memes. @dfish Welcome back to the Meal of the Day! Like you, I think the 3rd recipe is the one for me. I hope you can get the drain issue straightened out. @cruising sister I'm glad you're doing ok without the splint. @ger_77 I love your made-up holiday! @luvteaching So sorry to hear DH is in the ICU. Many prayers for his improvement and recovery, and for you as well.. @Quartzsite Cruiser Yikes on the pothole damaging your tire yesterday. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List. Be well everyone.

  4. My power came back on after being out about 3 hours. But it is still very windy; it feels like the house will blow away, and it's a 100+ year old brick house that has stood the test of time. I think I'll leave the freezer and fridge plugged into their backup battery generators overnight, just in case.
  5. Just lost power, I assume from the high winds we’re having. At least it’s not too cold out.
  6. I have compiled one with CC names and actual names. Just started adding birthdays to it in addition.
  7. Well, I must attend to laundry. Also we're under a wind and severe thunderstorm advisory, so I hope the power stays on. But I won't complain after seeing what those in the path of tornadoes went through.
  8. Checking in. I hope I don't miss anything as I'll be running to the dryer to unload clothes.
  9. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I'll acknowledge the Feast of the Annunciation. I like pecans (although expensive) and love waffles. My DM had inherited property in GA that had pecan trees, and a friend would ship a big box up to us in NJ. Good quote. I'll pass on the meal (fish), drink (sounds good but high calorie) and wine. I haven't been to Sandnessjoen. We had more rain overnight and again this morning. I think it is due to stop soon, but there are high wind warnings for this afternoon. Today will be laundry, although going up and down to the basement will aggravate the knees. Yesterday I stopped by my post office and they let me file 2 mail holds, since I will exceed the 30 day limit by 8 days. @StLouisCruisers Thank you for our start today. @mamaofami The drops can be the worst part; but since I had experience putting in 4-6 drops a day for my eye condition, it was just remembering the times for the additional drops. I do the pocket in the bottom eyelid method. @rafinmd That waffle looks good. Thanks for the sunrise pic. @ger_77 Enjoy the schnitzel; I'll be sure to have it a couple of times while I'm in Germany. @cruising sister Sorry the brace is hard to tolerate. @cat shepard Have fun redoing the yard. Happy Birthday to your DS! @kazu Oy on the spread sheet issue. Hugs on this anniversary of Marley's death. I hope you get everything done for the party. @0106 Great of you to have filled in for Debbie this week! @summer slope Prayers for your friend. @dfish Cute picture of River and the butterfly. @superoma Good news that DD is feeling better and able to do a little sun getaway. @1ANGELCAT That fire at the candy plant was on my local news; very sad about the deaths, missing and injured. @HAL4NOW Wow on the spring snow. I just realized I didn't use my snow shovel once this year; that's a first! @smitty34877 Cute puppy and DGS. @lindaler Enjoy the kayaking. @luvteaching So sorry to hear of the issues with falls for DH. And I hope the antibiotics do the trick. Can you get more fluids into DH? Prayers, if you need to go to the ER. And amazing that the assistant fire chief cleaned out the gutter! Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to the Celebration List. Be well everyone.

  11. Prednisone and other steroids have short-term and long-term side effects, usually related to the dose, which is why they try to taper the dose down and find something else to use in it's place, or use low doses as maintenance if you can't come off it. Short term it can cause fluid retention, elevated blood pressure, mood changes, increased appetite, or upset the stomach. Long term there can be weight gain, round face (moon face), faster development of cataracts (I had that from both oral steroids and the steroid drops I use), elevated blood sugar even in people without diabetes, osteoporosis, increased infections, thin skin, easy brusing (had that too), slow healing of wounds. So a mixed blessing in that they can control things like inflammation great, but bad long term if the dose has to stay high.
  12. @bennybear Brenda, wow, wow, wow on those aurora photos. Something I hope to see one day. @RMLincoln and @highscar Celebrate the memories on this birthday remembrance of your DM's. @ger_77 Congratulations to your DH! What an honor for him. You must be very proud.
