  1. TY @Nitemare Are you living in Iceland and not in need of tips.
  2. Yes, I know that We are on 2 different ships in coming months and I thought that rather than just ask about Seashore and Divinia that We could share so others may know. Thanks for your help
  3. Can recent pax share what the show themes are for sailings our of FL for Carib please? Curious what's playing in main theaters etc and if there are "must see's" TYVM
  4. When everyone was running around like their hair was on fire in 2020, we sold the "dogs" and bought--including buying cruise line stock. Its up like 400%
  5. @njhorseman Great pt We really like the MSC YC product and are Black (Diamond) card holders. We like th YC service, private lounge/private pool deck, the dining etc. Having lived in Italy we appreciate the nod to it roots. And when announcements are in various languages, it gives us an opportunity to try and understand from our old high school class days. We especially like to sail when those from Europe are on board (and not US school break) MSc certainly stole us away from other lines. We are going to try NCL in Haven for a TA because we couldn't get a stateroom on the MSC TA we wanted. We expect our NCL Haven room to be lovely having seen video Food TBD. Bar TBD. Embarkation TBD We already learned about differences in Service 1) MSC butlers can bring bev to cabin which are included in YC package whereas it will be an upcharge for NCL, and 2) YC includes unlimited wifi and we must purchase w NCL, 3) YC includes prem plus bev package which must be purchased w NCL. 4) YC includes unlimited access to spa thermal areas.
  6. Reminds me of when one of our kids was in 6th grade--the 6th grade trip was a 3 day, 2 night team-builder before the kids went on to middle-highschool The dining at the retreat WEIGHED all of the food waste after each meal and the kids learned to Take what you will eat/Eat what you take--- and to not waste. Great lesson in stewardship. The kids were so excited to throw out less. One needs to be mindful that cruise ship crews see waste of food on one plate that would have fed several people back "at home". And they see that over and over...
  7. Looking fwd to your pics. Know it takes a lot of time to get your thoughts and all of it togehter. TYVM for sharing
  8. TYVM Too early for the docs. I was just researching to choose a hotel in NYC. We suspect pier 88 yet if its one of the others nearby--we are good too. TYVM
  9. @AstoriaPreppy glad you liked the YC. We find it to be a great product and value. Re the Car. lounge aft.. The first two sailings we did--they offered a Cir de Soleil show with dinner. Two different shows. We had the 2 top table port side on those amazing windows for both. Great vies during dinner and unobstructed views for he shows. Food was good. Starters like Burrata and I think it was either a lamb shank or short ribs entree. It was a great use of space with the aeriel things and that wave of digital board along the whole front of th theater. (Feb 2020 B2) Fast fwd to 2022 and Cirque wasn't there, though if they used the space for daytime activities- we don't recall. At night different bands played the venue. Had one rock band that did great covers and the place was packed. We agree- the space is too pretty to underutilized. TY re the YC interior info. We had done only YC1 w bal and thought the interiors online looked tight-no storage -- so quite impressed it worked for 11 days. Recently saw a youtube of another of MSCs ships and the YC interior was larger than Merav. interior...
  10. @ontheweb nice. I had some great ones, including JethroTull from a concert in NYC. They were more souveniers than anything though wore them a bit. They were cheaply made back then and shrunk like crazy. Got donated to Goodwill etc as my mother helped me clear out closet etc (probably after college when moving out) Just not fwd thinking enough to hold on to them
  11. Does anyone know who the photographer is/was that took pics of the cruise ships leaving out of NYC are? Years ago I'd see posts here on CC of gorgeous pics of ships - and sometimes of people on the balconies etc... so the pics were of the ship, and sometimes close ups of the folks sailing. Time taken etc. and the people knew when and where he'd be shoreside to take the pics. It wasn't just one cruise line's ships. This could have been 10-15 years ago. Any idea who that was and their screen name? TYIA
  12. The Rumors album-- I still have mine. When I bought it, also bought Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic and Led Zep Zoso... Where did those days go? Consider this-- real music of our era is now "cruise ship music"! Yikes. ðŸ˜ķ
  13. I am sorry my concert Ts from my teen years are long gone--though they wouldn't fit 🙃 However some were from concerts with bragging rights.
  14. @PistolPete13 TYVM for your review and info You last post re the havoc in the buffet (aka "the trough") and saying you haven't seen that before reminds me of the movie Vantage Point. Meaning we have seen it on many lines We have seen bad behavior on Carnival, Celebrity, NCL and MSC... sometimes alcohol related, other times just plain selfness, greed, gluttony, wastefulness, envy. Could be sex in pubic spaces, ignoring muster station calls, drinks and food in hot tubs, cutting lines, handling food and then leaving it on a buffet, extreme drunks including falling off a stool (and medics called), piling plates and food waste, chair hogs/towels, sneaking into reserved lounges/decks for suite class, and and complaints about and to those who paid for perks like suite class/priority boarding etc. We even know of an event where the security had to separate a couple and put the spouse in a separate cabin! Sadly those behaviors exist. If only something could be done about such people... TY for your review. Bon Voyage
  15. https://www.seatrade-cruise.com/ports-destinations/msc-cruises-reportedly-plans-100m-ocean-cay-upgrade yes true was announced last year
  16. That is a fun trip. Took one of our young adult kids on a tour of that - we had a great time When I was in hs-- our PROM was on one of the tour lines that goes around. Bussed over to the pier, did the tour around (band on board) I forget if there was food. I am thinking I need to add the ferries etc. Such fun and a nice wink/humor Best fog
  17. We like it--especially after shows get out and the place is mobbed (Merav--and YC is straight upstairs from theater) or when coming back from excursions. When moving about with butler we didn't have issues and never did we get eye rolls..at least to our face. The nice thing about MSC is everyone can choose cabins/experience levels a la carte from bev, access etc. So people choose how to spend their $. I get it though-- and we don't use it often. As someone has said--with get power comes great responsibility 😉
  18. Not certain they can plant on the waters edge at the YC portion there. Its all ground and rocky coral etc. Sand etc.. plus it would impact view, water access for swimming etc. Every time we are there (6 so far) the plantings have grown and the continued work on the island has improved. If you recall a few years back the Bahamas got rolled by a big hurricane that churn for days--houses under 12 ft and more of water.. right after OC had opened.
  19. @bundtkate Great points TY for the review. We've sailed YC on Merav6 times and booked Divinia and Seashore for the coming months. So reading about Seascape is helpful. OC beach -- so difficult the first sailings as we didnt know to bring beach shoes. In 2022 the ship was so empty and at the YC beach we put down a couple of floats to walk across. Funny - or not- so funny, I slipped with wet feet coming up out of the water onto that float. I was ok, just embarrassed and the lifeguard didn't seem to know what to do. I just wave, took and bow and said "stuck the landing " to the few YC ers looking on Agree that the YC OC experience shouldn't be shut down so quickly. I've heard that the OC YC portion --that all food/bev and cutlery/dishes have to be brought onto OC, unpacked/served and then repacked/transported back to each ship that calls on OC as a port stop. If you are sitting on the beach, to not be able to enjoy a drink after 3 ish seems shortsighted. We have really enjoyed MSC YC and all that it includes. We have wondered about the YC inside cabins - for a last minute deal sort of thing. Did you find storage manageable? We are sailing in Haven on a TA soon and from all that is NOT included in Haven (premium pls bev, thermal spa, premium wifi ...to name a few) we hope the overall experience turns out fine for the $$$ Thanks again for your review.
  20. I agree with everyone who stated that without travel insurance you don't have recourse. If you paid by credit card, check to see if there is a provision for travel insurance you may have overlooked. It may help. Good luck
  21. well.. better to share more IF the OP isn't a regular YC cruiser..than for them to expect to "take away' and to "where" in YC? If your room-- ? pool deck? YC Lounge? We dont understand people carrying trays from the big buffet to a cabin (unless we are talking about napping kids/illness). We have seen tupperware! ðŸĪŠ on some lines... We appreciate that CCers who know -- then share... Don't you? Things like- -Where are you doing take away to ? room? Fussy toddler no on wants to see- so back to your room? -Did they know the grill has different options? -Do they know that the bigger part of the ship is VERY different? -Pizza is great o the big buffet? If you aren't a YC--you aren't carrying YC food to mid ship pool.. With that said What's Your best advice without knowing what the parameters are for the question? We try to be helpful
  22. exactly... You ;also can't generally take stuff like pizza and food from main buffet up onto the YC pool deck or into the YC lounge Have you tried the grill on the YC pool deck for lunch? Also the main buffet has a large selection. Worth a spin through if you want a change of venue
  23. @Essiesmom Have meant to tell you-- I love the humor in your signature!ðŸ›ģïļ
  24. My DH is an introvert and he says he and the other introverts would be happy to sit near each other and not talk. 😂 However--he is so much fun - as many are -- once you make introductions. We have met so many great people sailing and the ones who are rude and unkind-- we steer clear of since ships are big enough that way. ðŸ›ģïļ
  25. We have made some great friends on sailings.. from all walks of life and when we've been sailing a variety of cabin levels. So Haven bar not a shocker. Have kept in touch with all of them over the last decade +. For those who don't like cruising-- I think its may be a matter of fit--the brand/cabin level-experience level that didn't match expectations. We like ocean sailing so much--and while we have considered river cruises and are not certain of which brand and itinerary to choose--the issue of low river water can make it a slog by bus... Happy sailing
