  1. We have been to Hotel Luna de Plata but I think that is different, this one nearer to town? is this the camping beach club, el sabor? I think the golf carts go there? I think it is one of the beach bars on the road out of town - they seem to come and go unfortunately. Jaimie should be aware so perhaps he can make a go of it. How long has he been there? Is he running it as a lower budget PAYG because that is what Mahahual needs right now? Mahahual vendors have become very greedy. Unfortunately it may be outside the baffles of the Malecon so it will be interesting to hear how the beach and water are if you go.

  3. You know the kids best but unless they are willing to “veg out” or take a boat snorkeling excursion there isn’t much activity at Nachi. Most families with active kids/young adults would choose Sanchos, Playa Mia or Paradise Beach. That said, Sanchos and Paradise Beach are pushing AI now and that makes for a really expensive beach day IMO when you have to pay extra for the water activities pass. Playa Mia you have more flexibility to customize package costs. If they are happy with pool and non-motorized sports (not trampolines/water slides) then some of the hotel day passes are an option.
  4. No but if you go would love a review! It has been on my radar.
  5. It isn’t just Norwegian but it would be interesting to have data on whether one particular pier is affected more than others.
  6. You don’t say how long a time period you have or what type of excursion you are doing. No pool , beach or snorkeling in the immediate vicinity but there are possibilities depending on time and budget.
  7. The second is under youth benefits as stated above.
  8. What makes that original? It is a rehash of the Feb 6 announcement by the port.
  9. Costa Maya is totally different to Cozumel and has no “developed” beach clubs like Paradise Beach, Sanchos etc or even resort hotels with full facilities. Biggest pool (and flow rider) will be at the port, or the waterpark which is not at the beach there are one or two locations which have small dip pools. There are a few places with kayaks and paddle boards, snorkeling excursions or fishing. Water clarity depends on season, currents and storms. The length of the malecon is protected by the off- shore baffles although there were reports last year of murky water in mid-summer due to disturbed silt or possibly sargsssum breaking down and leaching through/round the barrier.
  10. The link is a paid link but I am sure finances will be a joint negotiated venture. It is pedantic to argue whether it is a new structure or refurbishment. Net result is a new terminal.

  12. It may not be a complete new structure but it is the refurbishment of a cargo warehouse to create a new fourth cruise ship terminal and all the infrastructure that entails as opposed to renting space at an existing terminal. Are you saying that the Port of Galveston is footing the bill for refurbishment at no cost to the cruise line?
  13. This might be more relevant but still too early to determine in my experience. Is there no longer a webcam at Pez Quadro or Maya Chan? That would be more current nearer the time.
  14. As long as you want? It is an independent excursion. They will tell you when the meeting time is for your ship and offer you various return times, half way through your stay. You sign up for a return taxi.
  15. I agree if I was paying the price of a cabana on a cruise ship day that would be my main focus. However some groups with kids may like the use of a pool. The time is limited enough on a ship day which is unfortunate because there are lot of things to see and do at Chankanaab. It is unfortunate in some ways that it is attached to the park and you have to pay admission in addition. It would be nice if it was a stand alone entity.
  16. It worked just fine pre-shut down. I don’t know why they haven’t resolved this by now if it is still a problem. They KNOW what worked before. We only witnessed it on our first sailing back and took evasive action as I have no intention of standing in line for a prolonged length of time when I have a reservation. Waiting 5-10 minutes, no problem; waiting 30+ minutes, no way. Subsequent sailings were fine for us but I think it depends largely on size of group and, those needing to eat the minute they open or earlier, if they can.
  17. It was reported earlier that already happened with two sittings on occasions.
  18. This was the reply I had some time ago from Chankanaab. As I understood it only those with *, included the pool otherwise I think there may be an additional fee. It has always been a grey area with some people using it no problem and others not. You would need to verify directly with Cabana Beach what is and is not included and perhaps post the answer. I know people have been questioned trying to use the pool in the past that have paid for entrance with scuba/scuba which also has discounted entrance included. I am not sure if you get different colored wrist bands that are indicative of your package. Thanks for your e-mail. 19. It might go some way to helping some people, although I see it being a very popular option (especially if 6.45) and oversubscribed. However it doesn’t address the fundamental attraction of MTD which is flexibility.
  20. I understood your time frame but is the intention to have three separate sittings or will the start times overlap on different floors? If separate, consecutive sittings a start of 7.45 will make first or last sitting very early or late depending on whether that is the second or final sitting.
  21. Are you seriously concerned about a discrepancy of 15+ minutes? They have to allow for different size groups. People choosing multiple courses. Groups not arriving together or on time. I am sure if there are two of you eating 3 courses and you say you are in a hurry, they will try and comply with your timeframe. Personally, I am eating dinner not competing in a race.
  22. +1 I thought you could only remove gratuities added on board not if they were pre-paid. https://thepointsguy.com/guide/remove-prepaid-cruise-gratuities/
  23. Here is the direct booking https://www.*****costa-maya/ (Dolphin Discovery website) However it doesn’t seem to be bookable currently. You would need to email and ask if you can book online or in port independently. I have no idea how much it is through the ship and it probably varies depending if it is on sale.
