  1. Holy Cow, I never knew that was possible. I have been immersed in menus for our October 20 Silhouette sailing. Thank you!!!
  2. What a great idea! Thank you!
  3. Wow. We have an accessible veranda booked on deck 6 of the Silhouette for the October TA. This information may be enough for me to convince hubby to upgrade to the last available accessible cabin on the ship, a Sky Suite 😁.
  4. Another advantage of buffet is you don't have to dress up. Hubby uses a wheelchair and changing into long pants for dinner is a chore if he's been wearing shorts all day. My guess is we will be eating at the buffet most nights. Glad to know the food there is good!
  5. True. Hubby uses a power chair full time, so that is not an issue for us. However, the longer we have to be in a cabin corridor, the more likely we have to maneuver around cleaning carts, room service trays, etc.
  6. If you decide on a wheelchair instead of a scooter, definitely try to buy one locally on craigslist or facebook marketplace. You can get one for a fraction of the rental price, and you will have it for all travel to and from the port. If you and hubby are fine with him pushing, you can also buy a "transport" chair for about $100 and then own it for all future needs.
  7. We have not sailed in one on X, but had one on a family vacation on a Carnival ship, and loved it. We need accessible cabins, and are pleased that there are forward-facing Accessible OVs on M and E class ships.
  8. Ooh, I was just about to ask this - can you stack your Elite discount on the pre-cruise discounts? Sounds like you are saying yes! That is great, as we went Cruise Only, and I can save more on both my soda package and internet.
  9. Thank you all for posting this! I had not cruised in awhile, and thought I had read that this benefit was no longer being offered.
  10. You are right. This was a lesson learned for us, since it's our first time flying with the power chair. I had looked at flights and prices, but wasn't aware that not all equipment can handle a powerchair. That's really why I was posting, in case it could help others.
  11. This is very interesting. May be a strategy we may have to explore, as we recently retired and expect to do a lot more cruising!
  12. How much do you have to spend in the casino to get the "casino rate," and do you include that in your calculation of price per night? 😉
  13. I really appreciate your help. It turns out we are able to cancel this cruise and rebook for next year with appropriate flights, so that is what we will do. But it is a valuable lesson, and I wanted to make sure people know that you cannot just assume a power chair will fit on all aircraft. Flights by Celebrity has been very squirrely to deal with, even though my CVP is outstanding. For example, my contract says I have refundable flights with a cancellation penalty of $200/person, but they are trying to keep about $500/person. Anyway, I expect the insurance company can sort that out.
  14. One thing this did tell me is that if both people do enjoy a drink or two, the AI price is a very good deal, especially if not eligible for the Elite Happy Hour, or interested in a drink at other times.
  15. Well, I booked with a CVP, but not with the one I had been working with. He was off on final payment day, and an upgraded cabin I wanted came available that I needed to grab. They listened to the call, and although I told that person I needed wheelchair support, I did not mention that it was a power chair. However, my customer record did say my husband had a power chair. So apparently the person who sold the flights did not check the record, and I didn't know to ask. It never occurred to me that this would be an issue. Celebrity is coming down on assigning 50% of the rebooking cost to me, and 50% to them. This makes the increased cost prohibitive. Not sure what we will do. But thank you for that info. It will help for future flights. Very unfortunate situation. I just wanted this out there as a lesson learned.
  16. This may be common knowledge among those power chair users who fly often. We have only flown once since my husband started requiring a power chair full time. To travel within the US, we just drive in our ramp van, and we usually cruise out of US ports. Well, we have a cruise scheduled in August that requires us to fly back from Iceland. Celebrity's air prices were good, so I booked with them. Upon calling to arrange seats, I learned that one leg is a regional jet (small) plane, and the maximum height of the cargo hold opening is 33". My husband's chair is a pretty standard power chair, but it is 41" tall with the headrest removed. So we cannot take this flight. Here's the problem: there are NO other flights out of that airport (Montreal) to the US that use standard size planes. And fares have gone up a lot since we booked, so a routing through a different city on widebody planes that was the same price when we booked in April is now $1000/person more. Yikes. Celebrity Flights is refusing to accommodate, although my Celebrity Sales Agent is still working on it. Anyway, just a warning for anyone thinking of booking a flight through the airlines - confirm the equipment first!
  17. Here's mine, if it helps. I am the only one who drinks soda and "good" coffee, so only one classic non-alcoholic drinks package needed. We would share one internet package if we end up needing it. We are both Elite, so there are some savings there. CRUISE COMPARE SHEET.xlsx
  18. I made my own. Took about 15 minutes. Definitely worth doing for me.
  19. One tip here: unless you and your cabinmate need to constantly be on wifi at the same time, you only need the plan for one device. We just each take turns connecting to check email, text the kids, etc. I need to be able to do Wordle and hubby needs to keep up with his fantasy baseball league, but that doesn't have to be at the same time. Save the money.
  20. I'm a nerd so I made a spreadsheet. We have two cruises scheduled, and on both of them the AI price comes out to $100/day per cabin extra. Since my husband doesn't drink at all and I drink little, the Elite HH will serve my need. I always get a classic non-alcoholic package for the coffee and diet coke. I assumed one basic internet package, as our elite minutes will not suffice, and of course tips. Net savings $36 a day for the two of us. If we drank even just a little more, that would make the AI a good deal. As it is, we are happier a la carte. To each his own.
  21. Thank you! I was looking at that on the deck plan and wondered if it would work. Appreciate the insight!
  22. Upcoming cruise to Iceland/Greenland will be our first on Summit. I would like to be able to get in a decent walk on the sea days, as there are many of them. Looking at the deck plans, I can't see a walking track or any area that would meet that need. Can anyone recommend a place where I could make a few rounds of the ship?
  23. Great to hear. We have an OV on the Summit for our upcoming Iceland cruise. Ours is an accessible one on 6, but the window looks to be the same size.
  24. We used FBC for our upcoming cruise starting in Cape Liberty NJ and ending in Reykjavik. I just called to arrange seats and found that the aircraft for one of the legs of our return flight cannot accommodate my husband's power chair. To make matters worse, every airline flying out of the connecting airport (Montreal) to a US city uses Regional Jets, so this is a non-starter. Since we booked this flight, airfares have gone up substantially. There are other available flights going through JFK instead of Montreal that would work, but they are more expensive. I am working with my CVP on this, but he has gone radio silent even though the site says he has been working the past couple days. Can we count on Celebrity to change our routing at no charge? I did tell the CVP about my husband's power chair when we booked, so I feel this is on them to correct. Cruise is 35 days away!
  25. Would you please share what bag you bought? We probably need one. Thanks!
