  1. Why he doesn't the Brisbane Port Authority have an Open Day, with free parking for locals? A gold coin donation could go to a good cause, such as the recent floods.. I'm not going to drive all the way to Pinkenba and then pay for parking, just to have a look. Maybe local bus companies will run day tours for Seniors, like they used to, to the Grain Terminal Wharf in Brisbane.
  2. It always surprised me that more cruises didn't commence from Brisbane, which is closer to the South Pacific islands. Many Queenslanders fly to Sydney to join a cruise or to fly overseas. I fly on airlines which fly direct from Brisbane overseas. Bon Voyage from Brisbane in August.
  3. Your son leads an interesting life. It is good that he puts back through his work with the Museum in Hobart.
  4. The best way to apply is on line on the Government websites. I get mine close to departure, as they only last a couple of years.
  5. Received a beautiful brochure for the 2025 World Cruise Regent - Away in Wonder. 150 nights Miami to San Francisco - 2/1/2025. Bookings open on 15th June, 2022. Interesting route around the Pacific Ocean, Asia, South Pacific islands and South America/America.
  6. Hard to imagine the amount of damage which was done because of a leaking dishwasher hose. I knew of a similar case from a leaking toilet in a holiday house. Good advice was to always turn off the water at holiday houses when you go away. We had a problem with termites in a second floor bathroom. Seems they are attracted to water. A tenant in downstairs unit didn't want to have to shift from his unit, so just put a door full of termites outside against the external wall.
  7. wait until you are trying to get travel insurance as a healthy 80 year old visiting the USA!! My MIL is a healthy 100 year old this year. Think of how many cruises the insurance industry have missed.
  8. In my experience young people are happy to pay tolls or those who can charge tolls to their work. Other people like me think the provision of infrastructure and toll free roads are a Government responsibility.
  9. I have seen it in prime position but have yet to visit. I always go to the Tasmanian museum and art gallery nearby and the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens every time.
  10. Maybe there is a market they are not attracting because of their charge for everything policies. People like all inclusive prices. Our family stopped staying at island and mountain resorts when they changed from being all inclusive. We found we joined in activities when they were included, but didn't when it cost extra. human nature?
  11. Thank you. I visit Hobart in January and cruise ships always called then. It has to be the best port in Australia for convenience in being able to walk to museums, CBD, markets etc.
  12. I meant is there normally a cruise season when ships cruise to Tassie?
  13. I can understand that. I used to buy cruises from an American Coy and kept an eye on the currency conversion.
  14. Why do passengers want to buy OBC in advance?
  15. Not surprised that this BIG local event didn't make the TV news. Queensland misses out being included in interstate news. Our local newspaper, The Courier Mail, is a disgrace so locals don't buy it. The Bulletin is little better. We need competition by a quality newspaper. When I travel within Queensland, I always notice the local TVs stations have better local news coverage than Brisbane.
  16. You get to cruise past Barangaroo, Luna Park, and under the Bridge, the more scenic route.
  17. Thanks for showing the pointy bits! Beautiful contrast between the dark blue sea and the blue sky.
  18. It was the B2B interstate passengers I was thinking about,
  19. Thank you Sounds like a great short cruise. Brisbane put on good weather.
