  1. On a cruise from Singapore to Sydney, Australia Day outside on the pool deck was announced. A couple, who knew the host dancers, asked hadn't they met their budget. That is where I learnt that there was a budget expected on alcohol sales.
  2. Sunday, I bought a steak and mushroom pie and a pork and fennel sausage roll at the HOTA Markets. The pie was so vile I gave it to the dogs. Seems I didn't see the "peppered" steak and mushroom pie in the front. I like pepper but not so much that it made the pie uneatable. The sausage roll was delicious. They also sold persimmon donuts, which was something different. I'll stick to My favourite food at the HOTA Markets, which is Japanese.
  3. You need to contact Princess to sort this out. They shouldn't be doing anything without your permission.
  4. The problem is if your ship is delayed getting back in to port. It can happen because of weather conditions, rough seas etc. The elephant in the room is Covid which could delay disembarkation. There won't be another Ruby, where passengers are rushed off the ship. My neighbour, who is a pilot, was shocked to see that I had booked an authorised connecting flight from Brisbane to Sydney to join an international flight. When he couldn't change me to an earlier flight, he gave me strategies to catch a taxi between domestic and international airports in lieu of Qantas shuttle. He knew what could go wrong!
  5. Bon Voyage! What great long cruises to look forward to
  6. Can you easily make a 11.55 am flight? My answer is "no". I would suggest you spend a relaxing last day in Sydney, Stay on the ship until announcement is made for all passengers to leave the ship! No stress!
  7. I would be cranky also as it is a great saving on medical? Did you get the recent $250 once off?
  8. Am I right remembering defined benefit means you receive a set amount for life, eg if you live to 100 you will be ahead. I was cranky when Qld Govt encouraged super members to move out of guaranteed defined benefit to more risky super investments, If you remarry a younger wife does super transfer to her on your passing?
  9. I fly EVA Air Business Class for the same reason. It is great to be able to fly out of Brisbane to Taiwan, then to London with short stopover in Bangkok (where I have a shower and enjoy the most delicious tropical fruit). I love their table setting, fine bone china, variety of teas and delicious Asian food. Flat beds are a bonus.
  10. Tell you son there is something to appeal to everyone on cruises. I took both my daughters on cruises which they enjoyed, but had no desire to cruise again. Both are frequent travellers.
  11. It is worth enquiring about your eligibility if you are on a low income, because it is not backdated.
  12. i just booked a direct flight to hobart from gc in feb for $99 bargain Now I just have to find flight home!!
  13. I didn;'t want to join Superannuation when I joined the Public Service because women only received their premiums and interest if they left (unlike men). Fortunately they changed the rule and I joined. This was the best financial decision I ever made. I have lived off my Super as a self funded retiree for 17 years and continue to do so. I would recommend people leave their money in Superannuation so they will have money for their retirement.
  14. Hurtigruten are currently offering no single supplements on select departures to Antarctica, Svalbard and Norway. Good time for solo travel.
