  1. Who phoned you? Celebrity in Australia? You certainly wouldn't want to cruise with them in the future. I wouldn't! Has anyone ever been denied boarding because of booking in the US? I certainly haven't heard of such a case. I'm sorry this advice caused you stress at the time. Think about it. This advice wasn't for your benefit. I have booked all my overseas travel, in all forms, direct overseas, using my Australian address, without any problems. I'm pleased you had no problems and had the most fantastic cruise. Since the pandemic, I'm happy to be cruising in Australia, booking my cruises in Australia.
  2. Tips which improved my cruise. Balcony - Took large square cushion with handle from discount shop and small soft rectangle cushion. This transformed the small uncomfortable chair in to a comfortable chair on which I spent time every day. Balcony - Few large strong pegs to hold togs and larger washed clothes so they don't fly off balcony, Take extra underwear, as you shower more often in the tropical heat. (Cruise to GBR) Take large cake of soap for shower and a small cake of soap for sink. Shampoo and conditioner, Sunscreen and body milk and insect repellant.
  3. I thought the system was excellent also. The most efficient I've come across.
  4. The small balcony chairs are uncomfortable. For a long transpacific cruise, suggest passengers with a balcony purchase a large square cushion, with a handle from a discount shop. I also took a small soft rectangle cushion, which I take on long flights. I used my balcony in comfort every day.
  5. Luminosa Continental breakfast was available from 6 am. Buffet breakfast from 6.30 am including made to order omelettes, fruit, pastries, bread, 6 cereals, sliced meats and cheeses plus hot food. Breakfast at Restaurant from 8.00 am. Brunch from 8.30 am on sea days. Times varied slightly.
  6. Confirming there were urns with boiling water available in the buffet for making tea 24 hours on Luminosa.
  7. Sounds like she may have been on her own, as it was reported crew discovered her missing.
  8. What number cruise are you up to now, Yvonne? Bon voyage for January, 2023.
  9. I have booked several cruises with the same US TA, with an Australian address. However it is not as good a deal when Aussie dollar is so weak against US dollar. I have also booked several small ship cruises with a UK TA which included local airfares and Govt insurance.
  10. It might be because it is a 13 night cruise. It didn't happen on my recent 7 day cruise on Luminosa.
  11. Very Sad for girl and her family. Also sorry for the passengers who have had their cruise spoilt with Kangaroo Island port cancelled on their four day cruise.
  12. ABC News reporting a young woman has gone overboard from Pacific Explorer in SA waters. She was travelling with a family member. Port stop Kangaroo Island has been cancelled.
  13. Passengers dressed for Elegant nights, but not at tux level. There were two on 7 night cruise.
  14. I have just disembarked from Luminosa. Passengers and crew wore masks.. KN95 most common.
  15. If you have time to spare, you could catch a ferry for a scenic route along the Brisbane River to Bretts Wharf at Hamilton, then catch a taxi to the Brisbane Cruise Terminal. By April, 2023 there might be City Cats available to Brisbane Cruise Terminal.
  16. From the Opera House, you can have a drink whilst you watch walkers walking up the Harbour Bridge and the busy ferries come and go from Circular Quay, If you look at a map of seats in the Concert Hall you should be able to select a seat at a price which suits you. The Concert Hall has recently reopened after major renovation with much improved acoustics. Enjoy your concert.
  17. yes lots of ways We take ferry to Watsons Bay from Circular Quay have fish and chips lunch at Doyles on wharf. then we walk along the short beach up a hill past houses to harbour view. then we return to Doyles where we walk through a park to The Gap. then we walk along the cliff prior to catching local bus to North Bondi where we have a drink at North Bondi RSL, with its rock pool for swimming. then we walk along Bondi Beach to Icebergs rock pool, where we have another drink. from here there is a beautiful walk to Bronte Beach. Or catch local bus back to the City via scenic route or Route 333 express
  18. no Canadians watching! england versus france 1 2. i watched morocco versus portugal 1-0. When my daughters lived in Canada, they were big ice hockey fans They played grass hockey team sport in Aust. I like soccer because it is similar to grass hockey to me. Years ago Queenslanders played rugby league, in local parks, as did NSW (hence State of Origin is still popular). Private schools played rugby union. Victorians played "aerial ping pong". Now there are teams of different football codes everywhere.
  19. Recommended to me on my annual visit to Melbourne for Aust Tennis Open. Haven't got there yet, so much to do in Melbourne, our sporting and theatre Capital.
