  1. They had wonderful libraries to start with, it they decreased in size with each class of ship. The Holiday class had a lovely library, though I don’t remember a lot of books. fantasy class had a slightly smaller library…still does. More games than books, I think, two large tables and several nights a cruise it is the venue for the Chef’s Table. Spirit class had a nice library but I think they have all been repurposed. HAL started repurposing their libraries more than 10 years ago. Oceania has a lovely library on their R class ships. Crystal also had a nice library on Serenity Celebrity had a lovely duplex library on M class, but those are gone. But none of the could compare with the libraries on the Queens.
  2. It’s dark because it is the one they are assigning to you. If there were others available and you clicked on one, it would be dark and the original would no longer be dark. EM
  3. I think there may be a place in Venice, but as you might be making purchases in other ports after Venice, I would do it in Athens, in the airport. We did it in the airport in Barcelona. EM
  4. I think this is a question best asked on the HAL board. Having only stayed in inside and OV cabins on HAL I’m not qualified to answer your question…But in reading the offerings of the Neptune suite, the complimentary laundry might be quite handy for a young boy. EM
  5. Cruisetimetables looks like it can be Freeport, Bimini, or Key West. EM
  6. Finally made it to Gatun. A day late and a dollar short…. EM
  7. MY experience is only cruises from US to Bahamas/Caribbean. With perhaps 40-50% non-North American guests. I observed that the European guests tended to dress better than the locals, especially the women. I think with a cruise in Europe, your wife could dress up as far as she likes. But you need some input from those who have cruised MSC in the Med. As far as dancing, there were venues I didn’t visit so I don’t know…but they did have quite a few dance classes. EM
  8. I see she is. NOw on the move again. Might have to skip Ocho Rios.
  9. Pacific World (former Sun Princess) was scheduled for EB transit yesterday, due into Ocho Rios tomorrow . She made it through the Miraflores and Pedro Miguel locks but hove to at Gamboa and is still there. @BillB48might your sources have any idea/explanation ? I see a number of tugs gathered around her now…. EM
  10. A Tale of Two Cities. Yes. I haven’t sailed in YC yet. But I have lived in big cities (NYC) and small towns (pop. 250). I prefer to live somewhere between. But I have evaluated my priorities in cruising. First, I want to be ‘on the boat’. Without my sister, I no longer need a balcony. Insides are fine, but I like a couch so my next cruise is in an OV. I hardly drink, so no drinks package or included. I like to be where the action is, though I seldom participate. I love to people watch. I don’t sunbathe. I don’t need a butler. Exercise is good for me, I have a walking goal. I spend little time in my cabin unless sleeping or journaling. My 📺 usually stays on the bridge cam channel. I like good food, but am not gourmet. Being in the gen pop suits me fine. EM
  11. I believe the theory is that in the case of a real emergency the elevators may not be working. EM
  12. Look for it to be listed in the dining options on the back of the daily schedule. This is from Seaside in August, look at the last item under Lunch.
  13. Yes. On Seaside in Aurea they opened bottles of Acqua Panna and left the bottle on the table. The one time I was in a different part of the MDR they poured from a pitcher of ice water. The bottled water was not cold. EM
  14. Certainly. Not been in YC but the tea caddy in the main buffet has at least a dozen choices of tea, including green. EM
  15. I have six MSC cruises, all outside YC. Well, Armonia doesn’t have YC…. I have been perfectly satisfied in Bella and Fantastica. Since I didn’t use the spa, Aurea was just a more expensive Fantastica but with My Choice dining. My next cruise is ten days on Seashore in a Fantastica OV. Received an offer to bid on upgrade but YIN was more than I was willing to pay. I’ll wait for better offers. The dinosaur is in Peter Punk on Seaside. It might be a takeoff on Peter Pan with a lot of other stuff. Not sure who the main character was supposed to be, maybe the dinosaur. Lots of background music but no singing. EM
  16. I’d just settle for an older adult. EM
  17. There are slides, too, and a zip line. Not sure about age/height requirements. EM
  18. Amber Cove has a pool bigger and better than Grand Turk. There is a free HoHo bus in San Juan and it takes you by both forts. Downtown is walkable. Stop for a snack in the area across from the pier. EM
  19. All it means is make sure your credit card company allows foreign transactions. You might even tell them you are traveling and include Switzerland. EM
  20. Generally anytime dining has been in the midship dining room. They will assign you. As to elegant night, usually it would be the sea day before Nassau…but that’s Halloween. So they might move it to Nassau night. EM
  21. Oh my, that’s a long cruise, interesting itinerary. Seems her world cruise is being taken over by Queen Anne. EM
