  1. It might even be made in China. EM
  2. Yes they are partially covered. Don’t know about size. EM
  3. You might also ask this on the Ports of Call boards. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/212-diamond-princess-roll-calls/ this is a link to the roll calls for Diamond Princess. There is some discussion on page five, maybe earlier of the April 2 cruise about the visas. It would behoove you to read, if not join that roll call. Sorry I can’t give you the direct link…I haven. Learned to do that on an iPad yet. EM
  4. I agree that entry level is different depending on budget. For very successful folks, entry might be Azamara, Oceania, Regent…. For families, or those with limited budget I would think Carnival, NCL, Royal…. But we are talking North America based. In Europe it might be Celestyal, P&O… It also depends on what you want of a cruise. EM
  5. Some do, some don’t. But while it is free or covered by your insurance in the US, you will pay in the neighborhood of $700 for it from the ship medical center. EM
  6. Four times to Glacier Bay, twice to College Fjord, one visit and one miss at Hubbard Glacier. Miss was in July, fog. EM
  7. Totally agree here. My sister had it at about 75 and no rehab. They told her the only rehab was walking. After about three nights in the downstairs bedroom, she took herself up the 17 steps to her room. We had to drag her up to walk, though, as she was very indolent generally. We cruised a few months later. EM
  8. Read some of the threads here. There are multiple comments about which hotels people are using. EM
  9. I think you are confusing St. Maarten with Martinique. For the latter, as well as Guadeloupe you do need a passport. Not for St Maarten. EM
  10. This has been well known on the Princess board for several years. They had removed the barrel chairs from the cabins prior to Covid. EM
  11. The OP has a thread on the Celebrity board, with some answers. EM
  12. My iPhone doesn’t want to do landscape mode, but I don’t see it at all on iPad and iPad mini, portrait or landscape. EM
  13. I would like to see a breakdown from HAL as to the cost for each of 41 guests to house, feed, and return them to the ship. Probably more for each guest than the per diem cost of three cruise days. And kudos for even being able to complete the arrangements. EM
  14. Welcome to Cruise Critic. There are boards here for Ports f Call and you might do some research there in the Caribbean area. You might also see if there is a Roll Call for your cruise. Roll Calls are where other CC members who are on your same cruise can share ideas about activities. Are you sure there is a seven mile beach in Jamaica? The seven mile beach usually referred to is on Grand Cayman. There is also a separate Ports of Call board for the Bahamas. EM
  15. Not enough info. Where does the cruise go? A closed loop cruise from the US does not even require a passport from US citizens, unless the cruise visits Martinique and/or Guadeloupe. Of course, the cruise line itself may require all guests to have a passport. But there is no country in the WHTI that requires six months remaining on a passport. EM
  16. The Celebrity board here has a cabin spread sheet for cabins on S class ships, started with the first Solstice class ship. An attempt has been started to do one for the M class, as well as the newest E class. There is a website for HAL cabins that CC tries to suppress but there are still references to it on the HAL board. EM
  17. No cruise line has your first option. Some cruise lines have a late night service in their kids program which provides group child care for a fee. There is a board here for family cruising and you might research there. EM
  18. There is a vaccine for yellow fever. Used to be you needed a shot every ten years. Now it’s one and done. Also not recommended for seniors, although I was over 65 at the time of my last shot. Limon is in Costa Rica, although the bay at the Atlantic entrance to the Panama Canal is called Limon Bay. To my knowledge there is no vaccine for malaria. There are drugs to take to decrease the likelihood of developing malaria. I have taken some of them. I don’t hear much about them anymore. I don’t think you should worry. EM
  19. I did a partial transit on Pride in 2017. Be aware that unlike other lines that do partial transits, Carnival does not offer any excursions. In thru Gatun Locks, linger for awhile in the lake, then back out. No stop in Panama. I enjoy Carnival, especially since I can drive to the port. I have sailed a lot of lines, and enjoyed them all. EM
  20. I’ve seen the ducking stool on M class covered pool. EM
  21. I only see it on my iPhone, not the iPad or the mini. Or my surface pro. EM
  22. That is not the number he is referring to. It is the 35 in the very upper right of the screen shot he posted. Apparently it only appears on phones, as I don’t see it on my iPads and surface pro. I don’t do Cruise Critic on my phone, but did bring it up to see if it was there, and it is. EM
  23. If you sail Celebrity in a suite, and the kids are not in a suite, they will not be able to eat with you in Luminae unless you pay extra, on a space available basis. Have they sailed Celebrity before? With the port intensive cruises in Europe, I think itinerary is more important than ship/line. What do the kids think?
  24. I have not been in the sanctuary, but from pictures on cruisedeckplans you would not see any of the locks and activity from a lounger, much less a cabana. And you would want one on starboard side because that is where the activity is going thru Agua Clara locks into Gatun Lake. If you are doing an excursion, you would be leaving the ship in Gatun Lake and not rejoining the ship until it gets to Colon/Cristobal. So maybe three hours use, not seeing much? Standing at the railing to see anything. CB in Agua Clara locks yesterday:
  25. Not all cabin doors are magnetic…or enough that a magnet would hold. Also, some lines require all decorations be fire retardant. We have an office supply store in town that orders graduation signs for lawns. Undoubtedly there are other types of decorations. If you are in a college town, maybe a college bookstore would have decorations. Or Walmart…
